Happy new year to all

Spent the morning studying for a Sunday school lesson. Then I went to sonny and Judy's for supper.  Brenda and jeff and kids were there and so was becky and her girls. 

We had fun. 

Thanks to all for a good year. Yes I lost my wife but I know that she is in a much better place. She left me here to continue on so that is what I am trying to do. So many of you have helped me. I appreciate it.

12-30-13

This morning I spent in front of the fireplace. Couldn't seem to get warm. Then I started putting away the Christmas decorations. Got them all taken down and put away. While I was at it I cleaned the house and did a little dusting. One of those jobs that I am not good at.  

So if you want to do a white glove inspection now is the time. Otherwise get the washer ready to clean the gloves.

Went to church. Had children's message. Talked about New Years resolutions. We need to rely on God to help us keep theses resolutions per proverbs 16:3

Leanna and brian left from here snd went to Branson. 

This evening at church the pastor challenged us to pray for the upcoming year

So this morning david and sarah arrived. David was sick. I think he had too much fun in Disney while on vacation. So we had our Christmas and then we went to spend time with the thompsons. Had great fun eating and talking and playing games. Then we ate some more and played more games and then we talked even more. So now it is time to get back to real life.

Got up early and drove to kansas. Leanna and brian are driving up tonight david and sarah will drive up in the morning. We will then have our Christmas and then go to my brothers. Brenda and jeff and kids and bard will be here from virginia so we will spend the day with them 

It is good to have family that are fun to be around

Spent the morning with VMI  getting ready to go to Africa in January. Pastor Hofmann and I will leave January 20 for Uganda. We will teach for a week then head to Kenya and be there a week. 

Pray that we will say and do what God wants us to say and do. Also that the people will hear what God wants them to hear

Then this evening we went to ac and virginia with mike melissa Hayden david sarah leanna and brian. Yep the THEM Christmas. Had a great time. I very much enjoy that group of people. We ate and played games. We taught Hayden how to play pit. It was fun.

Merry Christmas to all

Drove to OKC today. Had lunch with david and sarah. This evening we had an Italian dinner. Sarah makes the best lasagna   Yep I ate way too much. We had 13 for dinner. Then some played nerf war while others talked. Then ac and virginia left to go pick up mike melissa and Hayden at the airport. 

It was a good day with family and friends.

Things began to melt but not a lot. Spent the day getting ready for Christmas. You know the last minute things

Finished wrapping the last of the packages. Most of them have been wrapped for a month. 

Made it to church for a special candle lite service.  Very well done. Made all of us think about the real reason for the celebration. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin so that He could die on the cross for our sins. Thank you God for allowing your son to die for us on earth. 

Hope and pray that you all have a great Christmas Day. I will be traveling to be with david sarah leanna and brian. 

Got to get to bed early because I heard that Santa has already been to England and is headed this way

Happy birthday ac. 

Today sonny judy and brad came down and we put an attic stairway in. Judy fixed some venison chilli. It was really good. I appreciate sonny and brad helping me get the stairway in. 

The high today was 24 SO the ice did not melt. We have about 1/4 inch of ice on everything. The poor oat tree limbs are touching the ground with the weight of the ice. Tomorrow it is supposed to get up to 40 so it should melt a lot of the ice 

Only one day of shopping left for Christmas.

Looked outside this morning and everything was covered in ice. My poor flag showed that there was no wind. It looked pretty if you didn't have to work in it. 

Made it to church. Not bad getting there but then came home and stayed in front of the fireplace

This evening I had two deer come into the yard. Once Elijah saw them he chased them out of the yard and into the wooded area.

Happy birthday judy. David and sarah made it home from Florida. Drove all night and day in the rain brad flew home for Christmas and made it home this evening   brian went hunting and made it home this afternoon. Mike and melissa are still traveling to see mikes parents. Thanks for all the prayers. Today woke up to 1/4 inch of ice on the ground. Made it had to walk and or drive. I did go to herb and Dorothy's for lunch. The rest of the time I spent sitting in front of the fireplace and working on the computer

Spent the morning in front of the fireplace working on the computer. Tihis afternoon I went to the kesslers and watched them and their 6 grandchildren make candy and Christmas cookies. My job was to sample and make sure everything was good. It is a hard job but someone has to do the taste test

We are supposed to get icy rain tonight about midnight. Imam very thankful for a nice house and a roof over my head

12-19-13

Spent the day helping to deliver the gift of love. It is humbling to realize that others right here in Labette county are in need. Many of the needs are common needs some as a result of tragedy in the families. I would just ask that you pray for those in need. We don't have to know them to pray for them. The bible teaches us that we need to love others as we love ourselves. 

Got information today  that January 20 Larry Hofmann and I will be traveling to Uganda to teach pastors then we will go in to Kenya. Pray that the logistics will be handled and that we will be able to honor God with what we say do and how we react to adversity. 

12-18-13

Spent the afternoon delivering "gift of love" packages to several people in Labette county. Gift of love is where needy people complete an application and the our church and the community take food and Christmas presents to these families. This year there were 41 such families. Still have deliveries tomorrow. Then tonight we took 91 youth and Awana kids out to sing Christmas songs to families. It was a lot of fun and many families enjoyed the singing

Left the house at 5 this morning to go to Batesville. I went to visit with Jim and jana patrick. It was good to have lunch with Jim jana and jenny patrick. They are good Girl Scout friends who moved from the OKC area several years ago. 

My neighbor went with me. Ok she drove. While in Batesville her daughter brought the two grandchildren for nancy and I to being back to kansas. They will spend a week with grandma and grandpa. They are being transferred by the military and will have the movers there this week so while we were that close they brought the kids to Batesville and then we brought them to kansas

It was good to see Kayla and dan and their two kids. It was a six hour ride but they were very good. 

12-16-13

Well today I went to pay property taxes. Something you have to do. Then I went to take care of my brothers cows. Broke ice for the last time. The weather is getting warm just in time for my brother to get home.   Then I cleaned out my freezer. Still have the freezer that is with the refrigerator but will do that later 

This evening I went to a grade  school basketball game to watch david and Suzzann's granddaughter pay. Then had a mission committee meeting at church.

Fixed breakfast for leanna and brian. Then we went to church   After church we went to lunch. Then they left to head back home. It was fun to have them here for the weekend

This evening was the Christmas program for the church. It was great. 19 kids performed. It was awesome. Unusual but awesome

12-14-13

Got up and fixed breakfast for brian and leanna at 5 this morning. At 10 leanna and I went to the car wash. We washed to red convertible. Today was the frirst time that I drove in a parade. We put the top down and leanna and I had two young ladies dressed up in their finest "southern belle" dresses sit on the back   Thanks Hanna and Elizabeth. I know you both had to be cold but you did a great job. I had the heater on high but the girls were sitting in the open. At the start of the parade the team tire was 29. 

Had a good time and saw lots of people that someone in our car knew. 

Then leanna and I took a nap. Regular occurrence at this house. Then I finished my Christmas letter. So you should get a letter from me soon.

Happy Friday the 13th. Had an upset stomach last night. So just rested this morning. Then ace hardware called and said that what I had ordered yesterday was in the store. So Elijah and I went to parsons and picked up a stairway for the attic

Then I started working on the Christmas letter. Finally got it the way I wanted with help from leanna. So I spent all evening addressing envelopes. Leanna and brian arrived at 10:20 so I was staying to see them 

The Altamont Christmas parade is tomorrow. I am driving the mayor and his wife. 

12-12-13

Cold but warming up. Got above freezing. We are expecting freezing rain tonight. Shouldn't last as it will get above freezing tomorrow

Spent the morning taking care of my brothers cows. Had to feed them and also cut ice so they would be able to get to water. 

Had 8 deer in the yard last night. They didn't get to my trees so the soap is still working. 

12-11-13

It never got above 30 but the sun came out early and it didn't feel as cold. But at least it wasn't like Minnesota that hovered around the o degree mark all day. 

Worked on Christmas presents. Yes I am making them. This evening I went to Awana's. In fact I had the lesson. I talked on prayer. When can you pray. Where can you pray and what can you pray. I showed examples of david praying in the bible and how it pleased God. At least the kids did not throw tomatoes at me.

Another cold day but at least the sun came out..even though the sun came out I went to the farm and cut ice so that the cows and horses would be able to drink water. 

I am just thankful that I have a house with a roof and can afford to heat it. There are so many people in the world that do not have a home or a roof or the ability to keep warm. Thank you God for allowing me to live in a country where we have the freedom to have have creature comforts

12-9-13

Very cold today. Spent most of the day haying the cows and cutting ice for the cows. The rest of the day I stayed close to the fireplace. 

It began to snow about 4. Looks like own inch is on the ground.   Nothing like they have in the north. And hopefully it will melt soon. The temperatures are supposed to get up to the 30's tomorrow. Whew

Leanna and brian spent the weekend. Leanna helped me put up the Christmas tree. Even have presents under the tree. 

Went to church this morning. Then leanna and brian left to go home. They wanted to get back to OKC before the roads got bad. They made it home with no problems. 

Made it to church thus evening.  

12-7-13

Remember Pearl Harbor day. Brian went hunting. Leanna and I got Christmas decorations down and started putting them up. 

We had lunch and a short nap. Then brian went hunting again. Leanna and I continued working on Christmas decorations. Whew had to rearrange the furniture and item that are on shelves for Christmas stuff. Had fun with leanna as we just talked about the various decorations and where they came from. Lots of positive memories.

Cold day. Did not feel good. Rested most of the morning. 

Leanna and brian came up this afternoon. Her school let out because of bad weather. Once they got out of OKC the roads got better. Only a trace of snow here

This evening we went to see herb and Dorothy  then went to eat at Mj burgers. I am talking about a big time on the town. Now I better go to bed so I can have another big day. 

12-5-13

A cold day. I went to the farm and put out hay.  Then I put out hay at my brothers. 

Then I had lunch with a high school friend. It was good to spend time with him. 

Leanna called and said they were going to try to leave OKC tonight  then that had vehicle trouble. I think they are still trying to fix the vehicle. 

Well I must be getting old. I knew that I had a nominating and budget meeting tonight. Forgot it until the pastor called and asked where I was. Duh old age. Made it to the meeting a little late. Thanks pastor for reminding me about the meeting

Make sure you weather proof you water lines. It is going to get even colder

Spent the day with Dwight. We went to Oklahoma and picked up his tractor and brought it back to Altamont. Made it home in time to go to Awana

Not many children at Awana because if basketball games and the upcoming cold weather

It looks like we are in for several days that will not get above freezing. My plan is to stay close to the fireplace

It was foggy again this morning. 

Went to the farm to visit lady and to check on the cows and make sure they have hay

Then I got invited to a birthday party. Philip wanted some coloring books some underwear and a rubber ball. So I got him some super hero underwear. I think he liked them. At least his brothers liked them

Spent the day in front of the fireplace. Wrote thank you notes and get well letters to some friends.

Wow it is December. Went to church in OKC. There was dense fog like we had in Pacifica California this morning. It made it difficult driving to church. But made it just fine

After church had lunch with david sarah leanna brian and Ralene 

Then I headed home. It was a good drive. No problems. 

Will be in Altamont this week. 

Hope all had a great thanksgiving and were able to return home safely

Played golf with ac and brian today. The last day of November. Wow. Brian wore shorts. Not me I had long pants and ling sleeves

Had a good game but couldn't putt. Still was fun

Here it is Black Friday and I tried to sleep in. Brian got up and went to bass pro shop with his brothers. I leanna and I got up and had breakfast then worked outside. Tried to get the rose bushes trimmed for winter. The yard is ready for winter 

This afternoon I took a nap. Oh it felt so good

This evening I went with leanna and brian to a baby shower for Brian's nephew. It was a fun time. 

We had to stop for food on the way home because leanna said she is eating for two and the second part of her was hungry.  So we stopped for food for leanna and baby.

Spent a relaxing morning at leanna and Brian's. Then I went to david and Sarah's  as usual she fixed way to much food. It was all good but we had leanna brian david sarah ac and virginia there. Afterlunch we played pit. David won. Virginia was afraid that he would win. Last time brian won hands down. This time brian was last. But hey it was fun just to laugh and enjoy family

It was good to see Sarah's father brother and lane and dalton who came by just to say happy thanksgiving. 

After ac and virginia left we just sat and talked. Very relaxed.

Beautiful day. Cold but beautiful. Had lunch with sonny and judy then headed to OKC to spend thanksgiving with family. Oh by the way they beat me severely at cards today. So the life lesson is that even if you win one day you can get beat the next day. Hum. Well it is fun just to play the game with friends and family 

Got to OKC just in time for supper. Took leanna brian david and sarah out for steak this evening

It was good to just spend time with the 4 of them.

The wind died down so it was not quite as cold. At least the wind index was low. This morning I helped the pastor go to the food bank and pick up food for the upcoming gift of love   Where the church gives a food basket to needy families. Then I helped on 

E of the church members cut some trees that had fallen on the out buildings. Then I finished cutting the trees in my roadside ditches. By then the wind had picked up and it was getting colder. So I quit

Put my toys away and came in and sat in front of the fire. 

Bottom line had a good day

For traveling to be with family drive save as there are some crazy drivers out there happy thanksgiving to all

Still cold but at least no ice or snow  

John and rosy came into town from Indiana. It was good to see them. Had a good lunch then spent time with them. 

Rode the 4 wheeler this afternoon to see the kesslers. Elijah likes to run with me. 

On the way home saw a big buck north of the house. Then when I got inside and noticed that there were 3 does in the back yard. It is fun to watch them

Had a good day. Went to church then went to my brothers for lunch. After lunch we played cards. They let me win but I took the win anyway

Then this evening at church we watched a movie about the founders of America. How this country was founded on belief in God. I it was a good movie 

The weather is bad so travel safe. Enjoy family time

It was freezing this morning but felt that I needed to get the ditches needed to be finished it had a half mile to do today. Got half of it done this morning. Then I came in and warmed up and ate lunch. Then I went back out and finished the job. Whew got it done.

It was cold this morning. I could not get started. Maybe I need a tune up or just a starter

Anyway this afternoon I spent clearing brush. I got the half mile in front of the house done today. Will try to get the half mile on the north done tomorrow if it isn't snowing

Well it appears that the trip to Africa is going to happen. Pastor Hofmann from Phoenix is going to go with me. We leave in the middle of January and return in February. The pastors over there in Uganda and Kenya are starting to communicate with us and get a plan together. Please pray that pastor Hofmann and I will honor God in what we say and do 

Leanna called tonight. She is doing fine and the baby seems to be doing alright according to the doctor  please,pray for her also

It rained almost an inch. Decided that I didn't want to work outside in the cold rain. Spmost of the day. Working on my computer. I got all the data put into the computer that I had lost when my computer malfunctioned. I still have to massage the figures to make sure I didn't miss anything

Looks like tonight is going to be cold   But it is the 21 of November. We should expect a little cold weather.

It was cool this morning. So I spent the morning cleaning out a hedgerow. That is the type of job that takes a weak mind and a strong back. I was tired  and took a nap. Wow was I tired. 

Still have more to do. Will work on it tomorrow (line from gone with the wind) if it isn't raining all day. 

Tonight we had Awana's. I enjoy the boys even if they don't always behave. It is fun to watch them memorize bible verses. 

11-19-13

Spent some time trying to put my quicken accounts on the computer. Then I went outside and was going to clean some brush from the road side.  We'll I started and the. Thought that I purchased some dr equipment last to do that. Sine I was going to help my brother with his calfs I figured I would just get the equipment when I went up there.   So I helped get the calfs in the lot and ready to go to market. Then we loaded the brush cutter up and I brought it home. Had dinner with sonny and judy. Then judy proceeded to beat me real bad at a came of cards. Ok I let her win. NOT.

It was a georgous day. Wow the moon was out so bright that it looked like daytime at4 this morning

Picked up pecans this morning. Leanna said she would make me a pecan pie if I would get some fresh pecans. Gone. In fact I hulled them this evening

Went to help a friend this evening. He became a grandpa tonight. Yippie Jill baby dad and grandparents 

Go outside at look at the moon. Wow. If you have already gone to bed look in the morning.

Made it to church. Had children's message. Talked about we as believers are the light of the world. After church came home and had to prepare food for the thanksgiving meal this evening. 

This evening we had a nice meal at church then a message from the pastor.

This morning david and I got sarah over to the quilters bin to teach a class

Then we did some target shooting. We had a good time

Then we had lunch and took a nap. Trying to get david to take naps daily like I do. 

David and sarah left to go home about 5

At 7:30 I went outside and Elijah and possum had a possum cornered in the garage

Oh great. We'll anyway they allowed me to take care of the possum. I then had to praise both Elijah and possum for helping me to catch to possum

Spent the morning inputting receipts. I have decided that I will do an hour or so each day. Then I will get it done sometime. Not setting a date to have all items put into quicken again. Oh I guess I do have a date. Dec 31. 

Had lunch with david and Suzzann.  Thanks it was great. 

Then david and sarah came. It was fun to see them. We went to sonny and Judy's for supper and then we just talked. Just a relaxing time.  Good food good companionship. Good evening

Sarah is going to teach a class at the quilters bin tomorrow so she is working on work packets for each participant.

It's Thursday which means that it's wash day. Got my domestic work done. Then I tried to make some entries on quicken. Spent over an hour on the phone with quicken people.  Got it working so now I just have to spend time inputting all the transactions for the entire year. 

It was a good looking day today. 

11-13-13

It was cold this morning. At noon the computer repair man called to say he had the "fix" for my computer. They fixed it but lost all the data input for 2013. So I will send some time inputting the last 10 1/2 months expenses. I will just do a little at a time. For years I have told people to not to try to eat the whole elephant. But instead just eat a little each day. So I will be working on this project for a few days

This evening was Awana 's. The boys were pretty good. They seemed to want to learn.

Went to pay for vehicle tags today  then we drove to Columbus to sell some walnuts. What a surprise. The place we sole the walnuts was out in the country. The man was 82 years old. He asked sonny and me if we wanted to see his museum. Of course we said yes. Judy waited in the car.  This guy hat a Hugh collection of farm tools and implements. Ok more that I had ever seen in one place. 

So if you ever visit and want to see old implements or tools let me know I take you to a place that will surprise you

This evening went back to the revival in tyro. It was good. The preacher taught on God's love.  He loves us and we don't need to do anything to increase that love. We as humans try to curry favor with God but the bible says that Jesus Christ loves us just because not because of anything we have done

Going to get colder tonight. Make sure you have your plants covered and your faucets covered.

Had a good Veterans Day.   It was a beautiful thang God put together for today. 

Have you noticed the clear sky's and stars. 

Worked on Christmas presents again. Then I went to a revival in tyro. Ac's pastor was sing at the revival and I wanted to go and listen to his group. They reminded me of the chapel singers that we had at John Brown University. They were pretty good. I plan on going back tomorrow night.

It was a beautiful day today. We are still studying the life of Peter 

This afternoon they began to cut my beans. I left to go to church and they only had about an hour to finish the field. Not great beans but just glad they were able to get them cut.

Went to a auction where a cousin was selling the family farm and everything else after the farm being in the thompson family over 100 years. Lots of antiques. 

After the sale I helped sonny load a trailer then just talked

Cats can't tell time

The government is always making new laws to try to help us. Well I think they need to send cats to school to learn to tell time

The government just did a change of time from daylight saving time to regular time

So my cat now wakes me up at 3  instead of 4. I don't mind getting up at 4 but not 3. So when she wakes me up at 3 I tell her to go back to sleep for an hour. We'll as I said she can't tell time and she then wakes me up 30 minutes later. So I think we need to have a program that will teach cats to tell time. 

Now leanna thinks that barbara really wanted the calico cat not for her but for me. Which reminds me why my license plate is bugnbob. See even now 8 months after barbara died she is still able to bug me. 

No wonder I loved that lady so much 

This evening I went to the days for supper and to listen to and give a "state" report. My state was Colorado. Had fund learning about the states and watching the children give their respective state report. 

I am so thankful that leanna is a teacher and that she stays late to work. This evening as she was getting ready to leave she saw one of the young boys coming back to school crying. Two others a little older were with him. Someone had tried to pick the little boy up as he he walked home. He was scared. Leanna called the police and the police were able,to identify the one trying to get the boy into the car. The parents were notified and came immediately. Praise God that nothing happened to the little boy. Pray for his safety and that God will comfort he and his family

I am reminded daily how precious life really is 

11-7-13

There was frost on everything this morning. I just didn't want to go outside. So I worked on inside items until noon

Then I went to get a yellow fever shot at the health dept. I got there and even though the government says that I have to have this shot to travel to Africa they told me because I am over 60 that I have to have a prescription from my doctor   So I now have to get my doctor to prescribe that I get a shot that the  government says I gave to have. At least I trust my doctor snd she is going to prescribe the shot for me

Also today I received info from my insurance. I get to keep my insurance. Yes i do have a big increase but at least I keep my insurance. So I am thankful I am just trying to get all the paperwork done so I can go on a mission trip in middle January. 

11-6-13

Wow what a day. Had trouble sleeping so was up had had my 4 mile walk in by 5:30. Then I went to the local vow to listen to my brother tell about his military service. I was surprised to find that he was speaking to 250 4th graders. Surprised him also. He did a very good job. 

The entire veterans program was very well done with my brother telling about the navy and man telling about the army and the the vow perssonnel teaching about flag ediquette and also folding of the flag. Then there was a definitions of pow and Mia.  

This evening we had Awana. Had a good session the boys I was with memorized several verses. 

11-5-13

It rained most of the day  I took my mower to get it ready for next spring. 

Worked on some Christmas presents. Saw my first Christmas decorations on a house as I was coming home from the memorial that hospice had for Barbara. Ok there were others there but anyone who had a loved one die this year was invited. It was nicely done. I was glad I went.

Judy and sonny called and we went to lunch  then I started to mow. We'll had problems with my mower so Elijah drove to sonny's and borrow his mower to finish the yard. Got it done before dark. Had to hurry but got it done. Then I took the mower back to sonny's.

Wanted to stay busy because 8 months ago Barbara died. I think I am doing ok but knew I needed to be busy today. Tomorrow I am going to a memorial that hospice is griving for families that lost a family member this year

Some days it seems like such a long time and at other times it is just like she died yesterday. Still miss Barbara a lot. But that is understandable. Thanks for your prayers for the Thompson family

Went to church this morning. We talked about the persecuted church

Took a nap this afternoon then decided to bake some oatmeal raisin cookies. Took them to the evening bible study.     on the first Sunday evening we have bible study in a home so I took my cookies to munch on after the study

Sonny judy and I drove to OKC this morning. Leanna and brian were having a gender revealing party today

We'll the. Up cake we ate was blue. And then michell showed us a note from the doctor that said "it's a BOY". So we are going to have a baby boy in the martin family  please pray that baby and mom will continue to be healthy

Until named we are now calling him "bb". Short for baby boy. Ok I am sure that leanna and brian will be searching in earnest for a suitable name for the little guy. But in the meantime I am going to do,all I can to plan on spoiling him. That is my job.

It's November. Wow how time flies

It was a pretty day out. Have you noticed the fall colors. Hum that is what we were to see on the cruise but we were 2 weeks early. God sure puts on a show each fall

Thanks for the prayers for my brother. He had a good report. No sign of continuing problem. In fact he doesn't even have a future appointment

It rained again today wow

The days came over this morning and worked on studying states of the union. It was fun to help them. I also got an assignment from Michelle. So not I have to study about Colorado. 

Tomorrow my brother goes to see the doctor to make sure he is cancer free. Please pray that the doctors find that he is cancer free

Had lots of rain today. Didn't get anything done outside. So I spent the day on the telephone.  

This evening we had Awana's. It was crazy hat night. I took three differ erect kinds. I let others use two of them. Had a good night. It is fun to watch the kids learn bible verses. Tonight I had one guy that for two years hasn't done much. Tonight he did 5 sections that would be 10 verses. It was fun to see him finally get it. Now next week it may be different but tonight he really wanted to learn

It rained over an inch. So I stayed inside and did odd things. Then my brother called and wanted me to come have lunch with them. So I went up and had lunch. Then we played cards and let my brother just beat the pants off birth judy and I 

I also talked to the CEO of VMI  it looks like I am going to go to Africa in January. Please pray that I will be prepared and allow God to use me while there

I spent the morning just messing. Then I rode the planter with roger as he planted wheat across the road. When he finished he then planted my field. This was the field that they just picked the corn in

So I now have wheat in the field. It is supposed to rain tonight so it was important to get this field planted

Elijah and I took a run today but we did not see any wildlife.

Had a good day. Went to church. Taught children's message. Spoke about giving and what the church does with the money it receives. The pastor taught about acts 2 and the teaching of Peter at Pentecost. And what is out role and what is our mission field

Leanna left after church. Then we had a business meeting. I had a short nap and the went for a run with Elijah. We saw 12 turkey and 1 big deer. It was good to see the wildlife

The ladies at church asked me to drive the church van to the church outing at the cooper lake. So I drove the van and had 5 ladies trust my driving. Had a relaxing evening at the lake and had good food and good message from the pastor

Ok you know you are in a small town whe you go to the grocery store to buy food and the owner looks in your basket and says (so your daughter is coming home for the weekend. Knew this by what I was buying)

Then today I parked in the middle of the street to let Leanna go to the post office. Leanna gets out of the car and the grocery store owner comes out of store and gives Leanna a big hug and want to see her belly  I live in a small town

So Leanna and I went to independent for the neewollah parade. Saw some friends and then saw a Girl Scout that was in iur troop in OKC. She came over and talked to Leanna and I. 122 entries in the parade. Yep I live in a small town

Spent the morning in the attic looking for baby stuff. Leanna came up today and wanted to know what was in the attic. So I found 2 beds a changing table and a bassinet  Leanna can now plan other needs

We went to sonny and Judy's for lunch. Erica and Elena were there because becky had to work. It was fun to spend time with the girls

Leanna rode the 4wheeler that may be the only way I can get my grandchild to ride the 4 wheeler(inside Leanna's belly)

Spent the morning talking on the phone with the attorney's office to get my name cleared. I was headed to the court house to talk with an attorney when I got a phone call from the summons issuing office.  They said that the summons had been squashed and that I would receive a letter saying that I was not the robert Thompson they were looking forward. Whew. 

Then I got my grandchild a new toy   Yep I got a 4 wheeler so we could ride around. Never mind that the mamma said no rides on the 4 wheeler. Leanna is such a spoil sport.  Hey Elijah liked me having the 4 wheeler. As he ran with me everyplace I drove it. 

Worked on Christmas presents this afternoon after a long ride on the new toy. 

I got a phone call from the VMI staff. It looks like a trip to east Africa in January is being planned. Pray that we can make this happen

Yesterday my tv receiver stopped working. They said the would send a new one and I would get it in 5 days. We'll this morning at 9 the delivery man came and brought me a new receiver. So my tv is working again

Then at noon the sheriff came and issued me a paper saying the I had to go to court for not paying a debt. The only problem is that the robert Thompson they are looking for has a different social security number was never in the military and klived in Topeka all his life. So I am trying to get a letter from them saying that I am not the robert thompson they are looking for. Yes I do live in Altamont but not the one they are looking for. Reminds me of law enforcement days and stolen id. I will continue to work on it 

We to Awana this evening. It was good the TNT boys and girls did very well. So did the others but I work with the TNT boys.

Tried to get caught up on reading my for e last 3 weeks. Finally got that done and was working on getting things put on the computer. My brother came by and talked. We nit iced that they were beginning to pick the corn. After he left I got in the combine with roger. We got the corn picked by 8. They will work the ground soon and plant wheat    corn was not great but good enough that we will not file an insurance claim. 

Leanna is doing good. She saw doctors yesterday and today. Baby is doing good. 10 oz and growing. She sent me a picture of the baby. Already like a good looking baby. But I am not too excited or too proud. I am sure that I will bore you with details. Please be in prayer for leanna baby and brian

So had a good night sleeping in my own bed. My cat spent the night making sure I didn't leave her. She had to feel my breath all night. Today was a cool day. Put some firewood in the fireplace and had a fire going this afternoon. 

This evening I spent on the front porch. Sure is relaxing to be able to just relax on the porch

Went to church with david and sarah. The we went out to lunch with leanna and brian. Had a good lunch then I headed home. I stopped to pick up my dog from my brothers. He wasn't home. 

I got home and found that my lawn had been mowed. Hum the. I talked to my brother.  He and judy mowed my lawn for me. I think I have the best brother in the world. Who else would mow my yard for over 3 hours. Thanks

I went to church this evening. It was good to be In my own church. I am so thankful that I have church friends. Also my children. I enjoy hanging out with them. 

So I traveled to canada to see the fall foliage.  When I got home this evening the flowers that leanna and brian planted were blooming and beautiful

Got up this morning and drove to OKC. Spent time with david and sarah. Then this evening I had supper with sarah brian and leanna.  David had a meeting this evening so he was not able to eat with us

Spoke at the pastors conference. Then we had 5 other great speakers. Very good conference. I was glad that I came. Aj and I will head north tomorrow. So we will make it to OKC Saturday evening

At Austin bible church. The pastors conference started today. Had three real good speakers. Plus several smaller speakers. So it was a good day

Had breakfast with leanna brian david and Sarah. Then a j hawkins picked me up and we drove to Dallas. We met drue to pick up the VMI display board.  While ther we took pastor Hoffman and crowder to the airport then we traveled on to Austin. There is a pastors conference here. 

This evening we went to church at Austin bible church.

Spent the morning with david looking at the new Moore police department. Pretty impressive. They are still a few months from move in dat but definitely making headway. Then I spent this afternoon getting Christmas presents for the thompsons. I already have the presents for the (them) Christmas. Have most of what I need for the thompsons. 

This evening sarah leanna and I spent just talking.  David was at the church for gaming night. And brian had to work.

Had lunch with brian and leanna. Leanna is on fall break. Then I went to the VMI office to prepare for a speech   this week in Austin.  This evening mike and Brenda came over to David's and we had pizza. Brenda gave david and I a haircut. Sarah was at work this evening teaching a quilt class

It has rained most of the day. 

I talked to Ac about his brother.  He is still in the hospital. Not sure when he will get out. He is not going to be able to go to rehab. They are looking for a full t,e care unit for him. Continue to pray for the family as they make decisions about Gene's care

Went to church in OKC this morning. A lady walked up to me with a big smile on her face and said thank you for the prayers. I am cancer free. Wow God is wonderful. This lady was diagnosed with cancer but now no cancer. After that news church was very good. I went out to eat with friends. On the way back to David's house I talked to Ac. His brother has been put into the hospital. They have scraped pus and fluid off his spine. They don't know what is wrong. Gene is older than Ac he is being kept in the hospital for testing to determine what caused the pus and fluid. Pray for the hays family as they care for gene. Pray for strength for the care givers and for their families

Had a relaxed day helping david and sarah do odd things around the house. I enjoy helping my children.

Today we left virginia and flew to OKC. It was real good to see david and sarah at the gate in OKC. I had a great time with the hays and evons  here we are at the airport in Norfolk. 

I will visit with my children a couple of days then go to Austin for a pastors conference.

Got up and it was trying to sprinkle. We decided to play golf. So called a course and drove to it. We were able to get right on. It was just a nice moist day paying golf. Even though it was raining we had fun. 

Melissa cooked a great meal and then I packed. So I am now ready o go in the morning

Another rainy day in virginia. Went shopping and then this evening we had dinner with brad thompson Shawn and Carrie hicks melissa mike Hayden Ac virginia and me. Had a good time talking trying to catch up on happenings for the last few years. 

Melissa helped Ac and me with our I phones. Maybe we can use them more now. Doubt it but she tried.

Got up and had a leisurely breakfast. It was raining hard. Then we went to a movie. I rate movies by either I slept or no sleep. This one was a no sleep. Then we came back to mike and melissa and just talked and  relaxed. Tonight we played some cards

It rained all day actually felt like a fall day.

Spent the day in airports. But at about 6pm we were finally in the car with melissa and Hayden. It was so good to finally be there with them. We made it to the house and mike had just made it home so we were able to spend the evening with all of them. He was supposed to be on a NATO trip but didn't get to go because of the budget crunch. The good thing is that now we get to spend time with him  we are in virginia beach for the rest of the week

Met an 82 year old woman on the plane. She had passed out and they couldn't find what was wrong with her. This was her first outing since passing out. She was going to meet her college roommate. It was fun to talk to her. She just needed to have someone talk to her to keep her mind off getting sick. God has a way of putting people in our path that we need to talk to. Thanks God

Spent the day at MIT and Harvard. Interesting. As we were walking around Harvard Ac said "and these are our future leaders". I had to laugh. Ok the one guy had a maroon jacket with 2 inch square wooden buttons and a nice bow tie that was worn vertical  not horizontal. Then swoosh we saw a guy rush into a shop. He was wearing a sear sucker suit again about inch wide on the sear sucker design. He had a derby cap on with bushy hair sticking out all around  oh and he was carrying a cane. I am sure a future speaker of the house or president pro temp of the senate  

Then at MIT we met this guy that seemed like he had an iq of 200. He told me that if I had a smart phone I could see a map of the school (with a look that I was a real dense guy). When I pulled out my I phone and pulled up the map he looked shocked that I would have such a phone. 

It was fun to be on each campus.

In Boston. Rainy day. Several of the tourist venues were semi closed because of the government shut down. According to the people here the park rangers were instructed to make it difficult on the tourist to view the venues. So there were not a lot of things to see. We tried but most was just to be able to say we were at the freedom trail or Paul revere's grave. Still fun to be here. 

We tried to change our flights but they were go to charge us double to change our flights. So we will stay in Boston another night

God is in control  we need to let Him be in control. It is a hard lesson for me. I want to help God but he doesn't need my help I keep trying to learn that

I have phone service again. 

I can see the lights of Boston. 

The weather has been great. The seas have been calm. Therefore the leaves have not turned to fall colors. Becaus of the government shutdown we were unable to go to Acadia national park. 

We did get to see som beautiful areas in St. John and Halifax. I was a little disappointed with the entertainment on ship.   It was ok but not great. Met some nice people. So trip wa ok

Today we will be in boston

On a cruise headed to Arcadia national park and along comes the government shut down no park is open   hum our government at work. Not   They don't have a clue how much they are effecting so many people. It is just a game with them so many lives will be changed as pay checks are not received and bills keep coming  

Yes God is still in control. Boy am I glad of that. 

So here is a tree that the fall colors are being displayed. We chose this time of year to go on a cruise to see the trees as they change colors. Pretty awesome. Isn't it great how God does that every year

Well yesterday and today I did a little geocaching. Barbara and used to do that. She much more than I.  She had over 1000 finds. Hum I am less than 500. Still it was fun

Ok I will not send a post while I am in canada. I am alright I will send something when we return and have cheaper cell usage charges.  So don't worry. I will return. That sounds like a threat

Got up and went to the JFK library 

It was good. We went via train. So we get to the train station and get on a bus that takes us to another trIn station but the col thing is thT the bus was diesel but about half way the he bs computer says we are now going to stop and change over to electricity. And sur enough we do I thought it was cool 

Then we got on the cruise ship. As soon as we left the harbor we lost internet. So I had to wait until this morning to send this today we are going to be inbportland maine

Left OKC at 7 to fly to Boston. Had two good flights. Made it to Boston on time. We checked into the hotel. We then ate at a local Resturant then we decided to venture out and take the train downtown. It worked out fine after we realized that the train station we were at was closed and we needed to take.the Bus to snother train station. Made it downtown. Saw place where boston massacre happened. Also walked part of the freedom trail. Then we took an evening trolley ride around the city. It was fun. Lots of construction in  Boston. 

Tomorrow we get on a cruise ship.

In OKC. Got to visit good friends david and sherry and their daughter Jennifer. David was in the Air Force in Japan and we became good friends. In fact our son david was named after david. Then I went and spent some time with Ac and virginia. I know that I will be with them the next 2 weeks but I just enjoy being around them. 

I talked to pastor Drue about an upcoming mission trip to east Africa. It looks Like late January will be when we go. 

Tonight we had a dinner for brian his birthday is next week but I will be gone so leanna brian david sarah and Ralene and I had dinner.

Had a great lunch with sonny and Judy. Then I drove to OKC had dinner with david and sarah. Then david and I went to a gaming board meeting. It was interesting  david is the treasure. I was interested because I may try starting a gaming club at church in Altamont

Worked on the nut trees and fruit trees. I put the monthly soap on each of the trees to keep the deer away. So far it has worked. I use Irish spring because it has the most smell  this time I also put some on the trees that the raccoons use to eat the corn from the field. Hopefully it will keep them away also. I read on the Internet that it works for raccoons also. So we will try it. 

Tonight was the first night of the year for Awana's. the boys did pretty good. Please that God will be honored in what we say and do.  Also that the young people will understand the bible verses they recite

Hat a beautiful day. Mowed then I went to Joplin with church members to a life choice fundraiser. Dr Ben Carson was the guest speaker. Vey good evening

Worked in the yard cleaning it up from the concert Saturday evening

Then I spent some time in David's new combine. Modern technology. It has GPS. S he does not have to steer the combine. 

S,ermines people don't like their name  well I have always like my name. For many years I have been on the no fly list with airlines. It means I get special attention each time I fly. Just because I have a common name. Once I prove that I am robert thompson with my date of birth and social security I get to fly

Well last week I received a letter from the napa county chile support saying that I was $20,000 behind in child payments. I called sacremto  and asked to talk to napa county. After a long wait i was connected to a lady in napa California. She was sure that I owed $20,000. I assured her that I had never lived in napa never had a court order for child support and that both of my children were over 40 living in Oklahoma.  She was surprised and then told that they were looking for a robert thompson much younger than I and with a different social security number. She said that I could forget the letter of demand since I was not the robert thompson they were looking for

So this morning at 8 I received a call from a collection agency saying that I owed them $30,000. After much talking and me telling her my Date of birth and social security number she said oops they were looking for a younger robert thompson  

So I am thankful for the name my parents gave me but this last two weeks I have been mistaken for some other robert thompson. 

So please be aware that companies are just going to the Internet and finding a similar named individual and requesting money from them. Just another twist on the Id fraud that everyone hears about

Before you pay any bills make sue it is for you. Make the company provide you with your social security number or date of birth. 

No I am not going to change my name. One flight attendant suggested that to me

 Went to church. Brian did a special music and also played his saxophone at church this morning He is very talented    The lesson was still on the life of Peter. How he failed but then was used by God in a huge way. 

It was fun to have leanna and brian here for the weekend. We did go to sonny and judy for a short visitThey left later than wanted but did make it home after 9. 

I made it to evening church. It was good as usual

Leanna brian and Ralene arrived at noon today

After lunch leanna announced in her teacher voice that we all had mandatory nap time

I did lay down but no sleep. Then we got ready for a pot luck and sing along. 

Part of getting was putting the flag on our new pole. Barbara and I had talked about putting up a flag pole. When we lived here in 1976 we had a flag pole. So we have one now also. Did a flag presentation and then prayed for  our country and our leaders 

Then we got ready for the sing along.  Here is brian singing and the singing and playing the saxophone he is pretty talented. Suzzan was the winner of the new guitar we gave it away to someone that stayed for the entire concert. Congratulations Suzzann

Worked on getting ready for a potluck dinner here tomorrow evening

We are also going to have a concert and give away a guitar. He is Elijah practicing singing "who who let the dogs out". I think it may be a hit

Got up early to get my laundry done before sonny and judy picked me up,to go to Branson. We wanted to see Joseph. It was really good. Very good telling of the events about Joseph in the bible

Then we drove in hard rain from Joplin home. 

Sat next to a guy who was a teacher of melissa Evon when she was in college. He remembered her. He tried to tell me where she sat in class. He retired from being a college teacher 10 years ago 

You just never know who you will meet

Had a good day. 

Have been walking at least 4 miles a day. Trying to get rid of the 40 pounds I gained while feeding barbara 5 or 6 meals a day. Yep I ate each time she did. 

David  called and I loaded the stump grinder up and took it to aunt Neila. She had 5 stumps that needed to be worked on. Then I came home and did 3 more here. I don't know how I miss them but they just appear. 

This evening I drove 7 eighth graders to coffeyville for a church skating party. Nope I didn't skate. 

We had 45 skaters so it was a success.

Yippie it is raining. Had right at an inch of rain

Went outside o work bit was a light steady rain. So I worked inside. Ok maybe I did take a short nap

This evening I went out and dug a hole for my flag Pole. Then I poured concrete. It will be set up in the morning.

Got to the airport at 5:30 this morning. Made it home a little after lunch. Had a great time in Florida 

It was good to get home. 

I have been trying to get a cold so will rest  I will take some medicine and try to get some sleep

Sunday is here. 

Got up and went to universal studios. The very first roller coaster ride I lost my glasses. On the way down I saw them so I was able to tell the maintenance guys where they were. One of them came back and said he couldn't find them. I again showed him exactly where I had seen them. He came back with them shortly. Didn't enjoy the rides much after that as I kept worrying about losing my glasses. 

No problem had a good day with david and Suzzann. We will leave at 5 in the morning for the airport. We have an early flight

David needs to get back to picking corn.

Went to Daytona speedway to drive a race car it was awesome. Yes you have to be at least 70 or you will slide off the turn
I went over 160. So did david herold. He went faster than me
Still had a great time

Then we drove down highway 1 to a street rod show. Some beautiful vehicles.

The main thing was that I got my fireplace insert motor fixed. Now I am ready for cold weather

Then I came home and mowed the yard

Am sitting outside with my cat listening to the frogs in the lagoon.

Rested then went to church. We studied Joshua.

Went to the state fair with aunt Margaret at 89 she rode a camel we also saw sheep dog working sheep. Very interesting.

We had a good time

The this afternoon I went to play golf at prairie dunes. It is ranked 11 in golf boos for courses in the u s It was a beautiful course. Didn't play great but had a blast. Then I got to spend with bob patty david Kathy Amanda Whitney and aunt Margaret. I did get to meet the future mrs Matt Lansdowne. They had to get things fine for the upcoming wedding

Aunt Margaret and I drove to hutchinson for the Kansas state fairer had a real food time. It got hot and we got tired so we went to david and Kathy's house to take a nap. Aunt Margaret likes to take a nap just like I do.

Then david and Kathy came home from work and we went back to eat health food for supper at the fair. None of it was good for me but I figured that I was at the fair and would eat healthy later

They have a butter sculpture. It was neat. A big 5 fr tall horse pulling a one bottom ow and then right beside a case tractor pulling a much larger plow. The sign said 100 years of progress. This the 100 year for the Kansas state fair

Leanna brian and I went to church
The pastor taught on the life of Peter. How Peter denied Christ three times and was used by God to spread the Gospel. So we should be eager to spread the Gospel. Just let God use us
After church we had a lunch to prepare for the upcoming Awana year

After that I headed to Manhatten to visit Aunt Margaret

It was good to be able to spend time with family this weekend

Fixed breakfast for leanna and brian. Then we talked 

Leanna had purchased some more ladybugs so we took them out to the cemetery. Also our good friend virginia had made a ladybug wreath. Notice the nice wreath. Thanks virginia. Also the next picture is of me releasing about a 1000 ladybugs 

We did take a nap and then brian had to work so he made calls and did estimates for future paint jobs. 

This evening we worked on a couple of projects. Got them done then brian played the piano for leanna and I.

Today would have been Barbara's birthday. I received several messages and telephone calls. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and prayers

This morning david and sarah arrived and spent the day with me. Then this evening sonny and judy and leanna and brian arrived. I had prepared a meal to celebrate Barbara's birthday. Sarah made some cake so we topped the meal off with cake and ice cream. 

It was fun to sit around with family and enjoy life. 

I am so glad we celebrated Barbara's life tonight.

Laundry day and mowing day. Got both of them done. 

Tonight I went to a "cowboy" church. They had special music so I went with a friend.

6 months ago barbara died. In some ways the time has flown and in other ways it has been a long 6 months. But God has gotten me through it and I know He is in control

Pretty much a rest day

Got up early and went to town to take care of some business. Then I came home and had lunch. After lunch   I took a nap. 

Then I cleaned. It is amazing how much dust and dirt can get into a house. Will have to spend another day cleaning because I saw too many chickens. Yep every time I started a project I saw another chicken and started another project. Hum I will get back to cleaning the house I think

Becky called and said that the girls were in the play house/swing set doing their homework. I think they like it. So yesterday's hard work was worth it

Got up early to start working on the swing set for Elena and Erica

Ok so it took all day to put it together. But watching them play on it when it was done was worth it all.

We drove home and made it before midnight.

Wow September already. 2/3 of the year gone in the history books

Went to church and learned about Peter  learned that he fell asleep 3 times instead of praying. Hum I have fallen asleep during prayer. 

After church sonny judy and I drove to Kansas city to Becky's house. We are going to put together a gym set in her yard. It looks complicated. One guy on the Internet said it took him 10 hours to put together. So I will be laboring on labor day. Just to make a play gym for 2 nieces   They are worth it

Did not sleep well. Found out last evening that a friend of our died from brain cancer after a 6 month battle. That and the fact that today is the one year anniversary of the death of uncle robert. And those two events made me think more about the 6 month anniversary of Barbara's death. So I didn't get much sleep but did balance my check book from 1 to 4 this morning

I did talk to aunt Margaret and also Bill husband of our friend. They both realize that God is in control. That we were left her for a purpose. So I will push forward

Then I received word that ac and virginia were close.  So I  drove an hour to have lunch with them   Had a good time.  They had been in Branson for a couple of days

I then went to help Dwight and nancy move some furniture. Whew they got it all moved before I arrived. Stayed for dinner anyway. I just enjoy hanging out with them. 

8-29-13

Spent the morning helping one of the church ladies move into a new house. About 7 of us moved her stuff from one house about 40 feet to the new house. It was hot but we got it done prior to lunch

Then this afternoon I went over to help with a calf that got out. Fixed a little fence and then did my milking. Didn't get anything done here but was able to help others. 

Out side with my cat and dog   Since the sun went down it became tolerable to sit outside

Played some golf this morning. Then I mowed. It was hot. 

Today I have done something I have not done in 40 maybe 50 years. I milked a cow by hand. Through high school I milked for Ed Dickerson. Of course we had machines. 

Today my neighbors took a little vacation and I am the designated milker  I am thankful for modern inventions like milking machines. Actually it wasn't bad milking. It is just that cows need to be milked in the. Owning and the evening. I am glad that I can help the neighbor. 

Church was good tonight   We started a series on studying the 66 books of the bible. Interesting.  

8-27-13

Sonny and judy came at 6 this morning and we drove to silver dollar city. It was the last week of southern gospel singing. So we saw 5 gospel singing groups. It was a fun day. Did have one group that had just written a song for a friend whose wife had brain cancer and was married for 47 years. The song was about her strong fight during the last of her life. Just a little too much like barbara. Anyway I made it through the day. 

I know that many others have battled cancer  also many have cancer and have won. It is just that Barbara did not get to live   She was ok with dying and going to heaven. It is my job to carry on and serve God.

Went to church this morning. We are still dealing with the life of Peter. 

After church I mer sonny and judy and we drove to Pittsburg to eat chicken. Delphine is moving next weekend and won't be going to church in Dennis anymore after 64 years. So they had a farewell lunch for her.  It was good to see her. Many years ago she was my Sunday school teacher

Then this evening at church we studied the life of jeremiah   It was good.  I don't think I would have wanted to be a prophet.

I talked to melissa today and they are getting a female corgi soon to replace Maggie. They are excited. 

8-24-13

We have many things to be thankful. Give your children a hug. They may not remember it tomorrow but in 20 years they will thank you for the hugs and love 

Another great day.

I talked to melissa tonight. They have already found another dog. Not to replace Maggie but to fill the spot left when she died. It is hard but the family is trying to heal and enjoy another dog.

A lot of mixed emotions today. I am still getting communication from friends. So thank you very much

This morning I found out that a good friend of David's lost his 17 month niece. Mike helped 

to raise her and this morning the little girl had congestive heart failure  pray for mike and his family as they deal with the loss of a young life. 

Then I found out that mike and  melissa lost their dog to cancer. After mike had cancer their dog got cancer. They knew that there was no cure. It is just hard. Their son Hayden  loved the dog and it is going to be hard on all the family

I found out today that a church friend had a lump in her throat. She went to a specialist and a biopsy was done. It seems to be just tissue but they will have to wait for the results on Monday. It will be a long weekend for them

I just talked to lee Ava who is walking in the relay for life in Moore tonight. She called and sent a picture of a luminary in Barbara's name. Thanks lee Ava 

So keep praying. There are many needs. 

Saw a young deer crossing the road. Then about 3 miles from there saw a turkey on the side of the road. She did not fly away when I drove by.

Thank you God for allowing me to have the friends I have. My friends have called texted or come by to cheer me up. I didn't know that I needed cheered up but enough friends have contacted me to make me realize that I am one fortunate guy

Did you notice  the moon this week.  It has been pretty spectacular

Rested and read most of he day. I did go to my brothers to check on his dog and to see ifs white cow was out

Then we had church we were studying Habakkuk he was praying for. god to have mercy on the people even though they were going to be punished

I would pray the same for America. I am afraid we have some punishment for turning away from God. We can only pray that God will have mercy on us

The moon has been beautiful this week. Thanks God

8-20-13

So today got up and no desire to do anything. The whole Scarlett Ohara  "I'll think about it tomorrow" was filling my head.  So I made myself play golf. For those that know me that is usually not my attitude about golf. But I played and felt better. Didn't play great but I played and got some exercise

Then I came home and spent time in the yard feeding salt to the craw dads that have decided to live in my yard. The only cure for them is to put salt in the hole. I guy told me to put bologna on a string and then just pull each craw dad out of the whole. Just like fishing. Ok I haven't tried that method

Then I decided that I would mow the yard. Got it done

Then people called and told me to quit being lazy and just fix the peaches. So I just finished fixing a bushel of peaches. So now I have peaches in the freezer. It feels good to have them done. It sure made a mess of the kitchen  so I also had to mop the kitchen floor and wash all the dishes used in preparing the peaches 

No more Scarlett Ohara for me  thanks for keeping me on task 

8-19-13

Decided that I would go play golf. But first I picked the last remaining peaches from my trees. Had fresh peaches for lunch

I played a round of golf. Didn't do well but had fun. 

 I drove to my brothers and checked on the dogs. Elijah was ready to come home he just waited by my vehicle door so that I couldn't drive away without him. 

Then I came home and read. Then I decided that I would put a puzzle together. Anything to not work the peaches   

As Scarlett said in gone with the wind I will think about that tomorrow. So following in her footsteps I will think about the peaches tomorrow

8-18-13

Got up and went to church. Greg and Mona talked about their trip to India  it sure brought back memories of trips to India 

I came home and took a nap

Then I went for a bicycle ride. Just needed to get some exercise

Then I went back to church tonight

So overall had a good day. Looking forward to the coming week

Had a good time in OKC. Headed back to Altamont. Made it here with no problems. 

spent some time with friends tat lost their homes in the may 20 tornado. Even though they lost everything all their passions they realize that God is in control they look to Him for support. How refreshing 

The cat was glad to see me come home

Today is Sarah's 39 birthday. 

I had a mid year checkup with dr Parikh. She still tells me that barbara was her favorite patient. After that I went to see david and sarah. David took off for her birthday. We went to Norman to pick up a piano for sarah. Then we had a late lunch. I was hungry as I was not able to eat prior to the dr appointment  then we went home and we had a great party for sarah. We had family david side and sarah side. We had david work and sarah work and then their church friends. Nice group. 

I think sarah really enjoyed herself. 

Got word that a girl guide friend of ours from England lost her husband to cancer yesterday. Cancer does not show favorites. It attacks young old male female or whatever. I pray that a cure will be found soon so that people can quit suffering. 

8-15-13

Big day today. I mowed then left to drive to OKC. We had dinner tonight with ac virginia david sarah leanna and brian. Ok it was a celebration for sarah and Virginia's birthday. Enjoyed just talking with them

 Also today is richard Herold birthday. Wow he is way old. Yep he hit the big 70   I know he looks so much younger.
