Went to my brothers to take care of the cows. Nope no cows in the hay loft. I did have to break ice this morning. My brother always leaves and let's me break ice. It wasn't bad. 

This afternoon ran around getting things done. This evening got home and Elijah had a present for me. He brought a possum to me and dropped the possum at my feet showing me what a good hunter he is. You guessed it the possum was not dead but was letting Elijah carry him around as if he were dead. You have to love pets that being you live animals as presents.  Hopefully the possum never returns

Church was good. It was on faith of Moses parents. 

After church patty helped me clean up. Some things at the house. Then we took down the Christmas lights. So good to get that done

12-27-14

Had a good day with patty  it began to snow here about 8. About 12 it quit so we headed to joplin to shop. You know that after Christmas sale stuff. Well nothing we wanted was on sale and the shelves were empty. So very little purchased. But on the way to joplin it was snowing so hard that we could hardly see the road. We went inside the mall and came out to sunshine and the snow smelting

This evening the moon is out and looks beautiful and it actually seems like a nice night.

Sarah headed to hospital for the 72 hour chemo drip. She is feeling good. Praying that the chemo continues to work to kill cancer cells

Patty and I headed back to Altamont. Traffic was not bad. So it was an easy drive. 

Checked on my brothers cows  they are fine. Wind had blown some branches off trees at both places. But all the cows are doing fine.

Merry Christmas to all. I hope that you had a great day with your family. I also hope you realize that the real reason to celebrate is that Jesus was born so that he could die for our sins. 

This morning we went to leanna for breakfast. Then Patty and I spent some time with david Sherri and Jennifer peck. They are very good friends from Misawa Japan. 

Then we had the thompson Christmas. A very good time was had by all

Happy birthday to ac hays. Wow another birthday so soon. 

Ok met with the doctor. She said that the Tumors in sarah are shrinking. All tests showed that Sarah's body could deal with another 2 rounds of chemo. So sarah is going to start chemo on Friday the day after Christmas. We do not have a copy of the report so don't know the percentage decrease but know that doctor was pleased.  Thanks for all the prayers 

Made it home before 8 pm.

Wow what a day 

Left at 3 to get to m d anderson for evaluations sarah had an keg a blood test an ex ray and a cat scan. We will find out the results tomorrow when we see the doctor

Ok so I left details out. Patty is a member of the church I go to. She was married to Dave ashby for 35 years. They moved back to the same house she grew up in. She was patty donald from south of Altamont. 7 years ago Dave died.  We have been friends for quite some time and helped each other but then we realized that in fact we wanted to get married.  So now we are in that process. Today after all the appointments we purchased an engagement ring 

We have not set a wedding date yet.

After church patty and I headed to OKC since we will be going to m d anderson with sarah in the morning

So speaking of patty I have asked her to marry me. Yep she said yes. We both loved our spouses. She was married to Dave for 35 years before his death. I was married to barbara for 43 years before her death. We both had positive experiences with our marriage and want to honor them and God with this upcoming marriage. No don't have a date yet 

Had dinner with the kids tonight and talked to them about our decision thanks for your prayers for us as we join our lives together

Did finances this morning. Then took two mowers to Howard's for service. Should have been easy but neither one would start so had to spend time getting the started and on the trailer. Finally got them both up there. 

Did chores for the neighbors this morning and this evening

Trying to pack the car for the trip to Houston to see doctors with sarah and david

Worked on duplex items this morning. After lunch helped to deliver gift of love boxes to needy families in the Altamont area. All the families I delivered to were very appreciative. (Gift of love is needy families are given food and presents for the kids in the family. 

This evening went to a duke mason concert in parsons. It was a Christmas concert. It wás pretty good

Had a busy day. Went to independence to,puck up food bank food for,gift of love. Brought it back to the church. There were people there sorting the food to be distributed on Friday. Then went to my brothers and ate some fresh salmon that he had caught when he was in Alaska 

Then we played cards. It was fun

Had repairmen come by the house this morning. Went to the duplex and they are almost done with the wiring upstairs

Then I worked on Christmas cards for the church. Then it was off to get ready to drive a trailer full,of kids singing   But because of the snow and rain we canceled the singing. The kids were very hyper but we gave them cookies and chocolate milk. I sure that helped when they got home to their parents

Went to fort scott and pittsburg. Finished my Christmas shopping. Then got everything except 2 items wrapped. Actually ready for Christmas.

12-15-14

Couldn't get focused this morning. I decided that today I was going to do Christmas cards.  So after getting focused I wrote a Christmas letter. Then I began addressing envelopes. I got most of them done. I do have a few more to do but feel good that I got done what I did.

Then this evening I worked on Christmas gifts. Had trouble so didn't get them all done

Some of the presents have not arrived yet. I hope they make it. I need to have an alternate plan. So am going to pittsburg and fort scott tomorrow. Will try to find something there. 

Leanna's kindergarten class sent me a veterans message. So today leanna face timed me from school and I talked to the class and thanked them for thinking of me.  Leanna said they were very excited that I would face time them

Church was good  still taking about faith. And those that are faithful. This afternoon worked on Christmas presents.   

This evening it began to rain. 

We had the Christmas program this evening. It was really good the kids did a great job.

Took trailer to Wichita   Met david and sarah at roger Evans house. They were picking up Carolyn's long arm quilt machine. It took a couple of hours to take apart and then get in the trailer. 

Had lunch with roger. He seems to be doing fine. He misses his wife but has been dealing with the loss of caorolyn very well 

Didn't do any shopping in Wichita. Too busy. At all the malls

Spent the morning at the duplex or working on bills for the duplex. They have siding on the two ends and are working on the back. Also the electrician is working trying to get it all wired. 

This afternoon I worked on Christmas presents. I know I should have these done but I don't so am working on them 

This evening patty and I went to a high school basket ball game. The girls won by about 50 points and the boys won by about 30 points. Good night for labette county high school.

Went to help my brother this morning. 

Spent the afternoon trying to take a nap and working on Christmas presents

This evening went to a missions committee meeting. We were able to help several missionaries out. I think that is a positive aspect of church outreach

Went to Oswego to pay taxes this morning

This evening was Awana. It was crazy tonight  the kids were unable to control themselves. They would not listen to any body. So it was a long night. I think the kids are just ready for Christmas break

They got the shingles on the duplex today. It looks really nice. I will get pictures tomorrow.

Thomas got everyone up about 5:30. So after leanna and brian left Thomas and I worked at the house. We did laundry dishes fixed the changing table  simple things. Then we went to have lunch with uncle david and aunt sarah. That was fun. Thomas limes them a lot

Then Thomas and I went to see sharon Delaney   She is such an awesome lady. Thomas took a short nap but then just wanted to play while I talked to sharon. So we got caught up on what is happening in our lives. Next month will be 10 years since she lost her husband Del to cancer

I just don't like cancer. Sarah is doing well and looking forward to our meeting with the doctor at m d anderson

When leanna got home from teaching I left and headed home to Altamont. It is always good to get home

Got up early and drive to OKC. Arrived at 7. Thomas was happy to seee. Made it worth to drive down

Pearl Harbor day. Hug a vet

Church was good both children's church and big people. Big people was on faith of Abraham in taking Isaac to be a burnt sacrifice 

This afternoon I went to the fall piano recital for three of the day girls. It was really good 24 students played and I really enjoyed it. 

Then this evening we studied at church about the four blood moons and what they really mean

Drove to Manhattan. Had lunch with aunt Margaret. Then helped her buy a Christmas tree. Then I put the tree up for her. Had a great time just talking with her. 

Then I went to meet drue and Helen. They were in Manhattan to perform the marriage for aj hawkins. So spen some time sigh them then went downstairs and talked with the hawkins family. Thè wedding was very good. So glad that aj found a wife. They will be living in OKC area. She has a job in Edmond and he works for VMI

Spent most of the day taking care of the duplex     Today is raining so the boys are working on staining and painting doors   Inside job. Their goal is to get the siding on before Christmas break

They should make it. 

There are 48 inside doors. Each bedroom closet has 2 doors and there  there are 8 bedrooms. 

A lot of doors but all are needed 

Anyway I got the duplex taken care of for another week

Had a good day today. Went to joplin and met ac and virginia. We ate at Cracker Barrel 

Enjoyed the visit. 

Sarah started her chemo drip today. Continue to pray for her. She is doing fine they just had trouble getting the chemo started 

Thomas is sick tonight. He threw up twice but seems to be better. He started laughing and playing after the second throw up

Went to brothers to help him

He is still not supposed to lift more than 25 pounds

So we went to the farm and changed batteries in one of the tractors then we repaired the started. Then we put a hay spear on the tractor. 

We also put out hay for the cows

Then we went to his house and loaded the bull up and took himto the farm. Then we got a calf in the lot so he could go to the butcher tomorrow morning

Long day. Drove to Forsyth Missouri to take care of some property. So glad I drove there as it was much more involved than I thought. Anyway got it taken care of. Since I was that close I drove to branson and saw the pierce arrow show. Excellent

Let's see they sang oak ridge boys Stadler brothers then made a tribute to military veteran then sang some gospel songs and finished up with some Christmas songs. Very good

Made it home late. Will work at the farm tomorrow

Had a good day. Spent some time doing paperwork and spending time on the phone to correct an app on my phone very frustrating

Then I purchased some unique gifts for friends

The weather is cool but not like that in St. Paul. Had meeting at church this evening

Church was real good. Then the wind changed and it started getting colder 

Leanna and Thomas headed home when I went to church. 

Thanks to leanna for putting the Christmas tree up. It looks good 

So then this evening we had food after church to celebrate November birthday and anniversaries

Busy day. Went to brothers to get my dog. Dog had been staying at brothers while I have been traveling. It was good to have Elijah back home. Then we met the herold clan at the church for lunch prior to going out to the cemetary. We had a small service at the cemetary and then spread ashes on Carolyn's fathers grave site 

Then I met my brother at the duplex. They enjoyed looking at the duplex

After that leanna and I put the Christmas tree up. Just as we finished Dwight and nancy came by. It is always good to visit with them.

Wow long day. Had breakfast with brian leanna Thomas david and sarah. Then I headed to kansas

John and rosy came to visit as soon as I got home. Then leanna and Thomas came. John and rosy left and so did we. We went to sonny and judy to play cards. Mason and jeff was home and mason asked use to come up and play cards as they will be leaving early in the morning. So mason and I played them.  We won by only 10 points. But still enough for a WIN

Drove to OKC today then on to chi kasha for supper with them (thompson, hays, evon and martin)

Had a great time I miss spending time with them. Way too much food then we played games with Hayden. 

When virginia and I fell asleep on the sofa I said it was time for me to go.

Got up early and made laundry soap. Since I have a lot of soap as a result of putting soap out to keep the deer away, I have soap 

So I made 10 gallon of soap this morning

Then I went to joplin and got some Christmas presents

Went to see the duplex. They have gotten a lot done in a week. So there are doors and windows except one. When it cam it it was broken. Then the replacement was broken. So hopefully Tuesday it will come it and be in good shape. 

They start siding on Monday

Today the electrician started putting receptacle in and running wire.

Went to Oswego with my brother and sister in law to pay taxes and car tags.

Ok made it home very long drive. Left Chicago this morning. I knew I was I. Trouble when I started seeing snow removal trucks. It was raining hard but at morris it changed to snow. So for the next 100 miles I drove in snow. So it was just a long drive. 

Glad I was able to visit all the people but it was a hard and long trip. 

Going to try to get some sleep then check in the duplex in the morning.

I must have been more tired than I thought. I left Ohio this morning and drove to Indianapolis. Had lunch with gary and sharon. It was so good to to them. Oh I actually went to mike and Angie's house because gary and sharon where there. Mike fixed lunch. Great food. Thanks mike. Just talked but so glad I stopped to visit. It began raining when I got to Indy. When I left it was still raining. Sometimes very hard but I headed to Chicago. 

I made it to Bolingbrook and stopped at papa's pizza and had a pizza. The best pizza in all of Chicago. It was 30 years ago and still is. Worth the drive. Then I went to visit Diane Schuller got an extra surprise there. Her youngest daughter and family was visiting from Texas. I had not seen Carrie for several years so it was an added treat to visit with all of them

The goal was to go on to St. Paul and visit with rich and Alice but rich called and because of the weather(supposed to snow Monday)  and rich taking care of his grandchildren it seemed impossible to see rich on this trip. So I have curtailed that part of the trip and am heading home. I will just have to make another trip to see rich

Writing this rather late. We left Orlando this morning but the plane had mechanical difficulties. So we made it to northwest Arkansas at 3:40

I left there and have driven to cincinatti Ohio. Mike ellis memorial is Saturday at 10:  anyway I made it here by 2 but the lady at the front desk said it was 3. Oh I am back in eastern time zone. Oh long drive but ok. It rained on me around st Louis then I saw snow just southeast of Indy. Just a long drive

Thanks to david Suzzann and Matt for letting me go with them to Disney. I had a great time and hope Matt did also

Saturday is also a retirement party for david peck. He has been at the baptist children's home for 41 years. I will miss his party but will hope to meet with him next week to celebrate his years at  the children's home. Our son david was named after mr peck. Thanks for all the memories david. You are awesome. 

I just felt that Michelle and the boys needed some encouragement after mikes death. Hence long drive to Ohio.

Went to magic kingdom today  Matt had a good time  yea I was able to get a Mickey ear to eat(ice cream bar). 

The weather is much nicer today. Back to normal Florida weather  but our time has ended and we  must head home in the morning

We went to downtown Disney and Art of animation then circus o le. Spelling incorrect.

Ok I know it is. Or cold but it sure seemed cold. It was 7 degrees in altamomt and 41 degrees in Orlando  we had a good time. Matt was able to go on the star tour 4 times and one time he was the rebel spy. Pretty cool. We had a full day got to the park before it opened at 9 and left at 8. 

The park was pretty crowded.

Left Altamont to come to Orlando with david Suzzann and Matt. I came to help david with Matt. Matt is doing pretty good. He is excited about coming to disney world

Plane was late so we just got to hotel. Thàt is ok no snow here. Will hit Hollywood studios in the morning.

Greg taught in Hebrews about the faith of Abraham then this evening he taught about Solomon teaching that we are all going to die

The duplex is looking good. Instead of tar paper they put a moister resistant covering on the roof it is too cold to put shingles on but next week if it get nice they will put the shingles on. They will put the windows and doors on. Ext week. So we will be able to heat the house as the boys work 

The combine that threw a bearing is still broken down I my field. They rented another combine and finished the field s so my beans are cut and in the elevator

I too the wood chips to my brothers and spread them for him. He is. Or supposed to lift more tha. 25 pounds 

Both he and judy are doing well

10-13-14

Got up this morning and took sarah to the hospital to start round 5 of the chemo drip. Since the chemo is continuing to reduce the tumors the doctor wants to do 2 extra rounds. So after I got sarah in the hospital I drove home

Roger and jerry were just starting to cut my soy beans. After about an hour a bearing burned up and sent the blades through the radiator causing the engine to run hot. So we had to have a repairman come out the order parts for the combine. Jerry had already rented a smaller combine so he went home and brought it to the bean field. He cut most of the field with the smaller combine. He has just a little bit to do tomorrow. 

It looks like so,ethereal in the 30's for bushel per acre

Ok met with doctors today. The surgeon said she was not ready to do surgery on sarah. Too many downsides

The oncologist was very happy the Tumors has decreased in size from 15 to 45 percent in size depending on the tumor. Wow that is good. The doctor is even talking about doing a total,of 8 drips. When sarah started this they said 6 cycles of drip. Now because sarah is handling this chemo so well they want to do 8 cycles. They will have to do a heart scan in December to make sure the chemo is not damaging her heart   Anyway sarah was encouraged to keep fighting and shrinking the tumors

So we left Houston and made it to OKC. Sarah goes to the hospital In the morning to receive chemo drip 5.

Also got up and made it to OKC by 7 this morning. Thomas was glad to see me. Spent the day taking care of him.  We did go see mr peck. We had given Jennifer peck an organ that was miss Lois. Well she has no room for it and wanted to give it back. So I picked it up and will take it back to kansas and put it in storage. 

Tomorrow david sarah and I will go to m d anderson to see doctors. So another long day.

Church was good. I taught the boys about how the bible is divided and makeup of the old Nd New Testament

After church I went to the herb and Dorothy 50 anniversary party. Then I went to help sonny with some projects

VMI board meeting started at 7 this morning. I made it home at 6:30. Long meeting. But we got a lot discussed and decided. We will still have to have a phone call meeting to handle the compensation package. It was good to see all the board members 

Got a phone call about mike ellis. Not looking good. He is not responding to electronic probes. Pray for mike Michelle and the medical staff

Rafters are up and sheeting started on duplex

Left and drove to Tulsa for a VMI board meeting. Had meeting until 10 this evening 

Received a call at 6 about my friend mike ellis. He had a turn for the worse. Doctors said that the don't what else to do.  Told Michelle that if he doesn't improve then they will remove the life support. They gave mike 3 days. Pray for mike and family and medical staff 

11-6-14

Finally got all the brush from when I broke my ribs chipped. It was a nice day and I was able to get the yard cleaned up so that it will be ready doe spring growth. Beautiful day. Did you see the moon and the sun rise. Wow breathtaking 

The duplex now has the ceiling joist up I will take pictures In the daylight. It was dark when I went into town

My friend mike ellis is in the Columbus university hospital. They are going to be doing a procedure to get him up and ready for a heart transplant. The surgery will be at 7:30"in the morning. They asked for  prayer. Mike had not been up out of the bed in 30"days 

11-5-14

Thomas is 8 months old. He weighs 20 pounds 14 oz  he is also getting taller but leanna did not measure that. Today I helped my brother work at the farm. Then I had lunch with them. I was trying to be nice to judy and she took advantage of me and beat me real bad in a card game.   

Then I came ho,e and spent a couple hours chipping wood. Had to stop to get ready for Awana. Tonight we took the kids roller skating they had a blast. I forgot how 7 12 year old act in the car. I drove with 7 of them to coffeyville and then back. They all wanted to ride in my car on the the home. What did I do wrong. Got them all returned to their homes or to their parents. So it was a good night

Election Day. I hope you all got out to vote. It is our obligation as American citizens

Had a good day taking care of Thomas. We had lunch with uncle david and aunt sarah

Then we just spent time honing our skills of jumping in the jumper, scooting on belly backwards, scooting on bottom round and round and in general making grandpa smile.  It is a very hard job I have

I left in time to get home this evening. Thought I had a meeting in the morning but found out it is next week. Oh well I am home. 

Sarah is still doing good. She has so much energy. I am glad the chemo has not slowed her down

Leanna is still teaching but knows that her real job is taking care of Thomas. 

I just received a call about mike ellis. He was supposed to receive an artificial heart this week. Well last night he had a setback. They are still evaluating his markers. Michelle is hanging in there. Pray for mike Michelle and the boys and the medical staff that is watching mike. He is still in Columbus Ohio university hospital

Got up early and drove to OKC to take care of Thomas. He gave me a big smile when I came in the door. 

We spent the day taking naps, jumping, crawling, and turning over. But we were happy when mom got home and caught us practicing our backwards crawl. 

So brian bought a roast and asked if I would fix it today.  So we had roast potatoes, carrots sweet potatoes and onio for supper. I just put it all in a slow cooker and played with Thomas 

Sarah had a good day teaching. She went to the vo tech and had a class all afternoon.  It was good for her to be back teaching

Got extra hour of sleep. Needed it. Began a new series for Sunday. School. We are learning about the bible and walk through the bible then Greg taught on the faith of Noah. 

I tried to rest but spent most of the afternoon in the phone

For tonight's church our small group went to Edna for the circuit rider church service. So I saw a shootout.  Then had a cowboy poet sing and recite cowboy poetry. Then had a good message on following the call of God. Whether you are a pastor or a grandpa God has a plan for our lives

Went to the memorial for Carolyn Evans . It was good to see the herold clan. Very good service. It was a good celebration of her life.

Happy Halloween  went to the far early. Checked cows at both places. No new calves. Then I checked on sonny and judy. They were I. Their assigned places. Sonny I. The chair with iced tea and a blanket. Judy on the sofa with iced tea and a blanket. So both are doing good

Then I came home and changed clothes to go to Branson to watch Jonah   It went with david and Suzzann and their granddaughters. The show was good. Enjoyed it. 

We made it home late. It is going to get into the low 20 tonight  so we will have a hard freeze tonight

Sarah is doing good. She is tired but the doctor said she should be tired as a result of the chemo she has been given. Keep praying for her and david

10-30-14

They put up the first rafter joist.  I picked out ceiling fans washer dryer  dishwasher garbage disposal and refrigerator. Then I looked at a different siding and different flooring. Have a good idea of what I will use. Just need to make sure what color Eddie is painting the interior

Went to check on sonny and judy. They are both recovering very well. They each have assigned areas. Like sonny has his chair blanker and drink by his chair. Judy has her blanket drink by her sofa

Thn I went to the farm  a cow was having a calf. Oh no not right she was having twins. We lost one but he remaining one is doing very well. 

Then our renter called to say the refrigerator wasn't working so I headed back to the farm and worked on the refrigerator. Got it working. 

Sarah seems to be doing good but is tired. 

10-29-14

Made it to the hospital before 7. The doctor came in and told us that judy calcium was low and they w ould have to check. Her blood at noon but he thought she would go home. 

So we waited for the noon test then waited for the results. Then we waited some more for the doctor to officially tell us we could go home. Finally we made it out of the hospital. Judy is very tired but definitely ready to come home. She has another appointment next Wednesday. The doctor thought they got all that neede to be gotten. Judy does still have a strong voice. The doctor was afraid that he could have nudged her voice cords. But everything seems to be fine

Voted this morning. Realized that I might be in OKC on Election Day so on the way to joplin we stopped and voted

We got here at noon. Judy went in soon after but didn't go into surgery until 2:00. At 4:30 they told us that the surgery was a success. They got the thryoid  they did not think they messed with the vocal cords. And sure enough she was talking when we saw her in the room at 7:00. So she is doing fine. It will depend on the calcium level as to when she goes home. Doctor think she will go home Wednesday if calcium level is ok.   Sonny doing good. He is still in a lot of pain from his surgery. Not able to drive or to lift more than 5 pounds. Becky is here to help with judy.

They poured concrete in the duplex garages this morning at 6. I know it was dark but we have electricity and lights in kansas so they poured the concrete

The high school boys began to put up the ceiling trusts. 

I went to my brothers to help. Had to help judy first as she wanted some things done that sonny couldn't help her with. Then I went to the farm and check cows. Supposed to be having some more calves but not today. 

Just finished watching the Redskins beat the Cowboys. Good game

They planted wheat on the corn ground last night. So now I have wheat ready to grow.

Church was good. Came home and took nap. Then prepared food for the harvest feast at church tonight. We had way too much food  it was all good

My brother is recovering from surgery. He said more pain today than yesterday. They must have given him good drugs for surgery. He is not to lift more than 5 pounds. But doctor told him he could drive as he felt like it. 

Sarah is doing good. Her chemo drip went well. She likes to sleep in her own bed

Leanna is busy trying to get everything done from 2 weeks vacation to go back to school on Monday 

Me I went to joplin and shopped. Ok not much shopping but a little and of course ate.

Spent the day putting blinds up. I bought wooden blinds. So it took quite a bit of time. Got them up and very pleased. Will just need to get used to having blinds. 

It rained this morning. Going to be nice this weekend. Should mean wheat gets planted this weekend.

The duplex looks great. Plywood to cover the sides are going up. We also got rid of the dirt piles. Will take pictures tomorrow

I spent the day getting a new air conditioner and new heater put in house. The guy said they were on their last leg. Thèy were installed in 1976. So they lasted a long time. So we have a new system and should stay warmer in winter and cooler in the summer

Spent the morning at the duplex. They are beginning to put up plywood on the outside walls. Also getting ready to put the rafters on. So bottom line it is progressing quite well

Mowed this afternoon. It looks like I need to bale the grass.

Took sarah to doctor to start her chemo drip. After checking her in I headed to Altamont. It was good to get home very tired so took a nap. Then I went to my brothers. Today is his birthday.

Drove 1300 miles from Orlando to OKC today. Yes full day but david sarah and I drove. Needed to get back to OKC for chemo treatment for Sarah. 

Vacation was great.

Last day at Disney. We spent the day at Epcot. I think we ate our way through Epcot. It was really crowded as there was the wine tasting festival today. We should have gone to Epcot earlier in the week but no. We had a good time anyway. This morning we did a special tour the showed how Disney grows their food without dirt. Nutrients only. Very interesting

Cousin Carolyn herold Evans passed away this morning after a battle with various health issues. Her immediate family was with her and I want to thank you for you prayers for the roger Evans family   It will be hard without Carolyn but they will make it if you continue to pray for them

Spent the day at Hollywood studios. Thomas that a good time. He just takes everything in And doesn't seem to be bothered. He didn't get a good nap today. Each time he went to sleep we had to move him and that woke him so he never got a good nap. Hope that means he sleeps good tonight.

Everyone is well and doing good. So we are over sharing the flue with each other and now we can just have fu

Big day. We went to downtown Disney and did some shopping. Ok several hours. Then we ate at the T. rex Resturant   It is very similar to a rain forest Resturant. Then we hurried over to magic kingdom after we changed into our Halloween costumes. There were lots of people with costumes. I received several for my goofy pirate costume. David and sarah received some for their 20's mickey costume. They dresses as roaring 20's pink poodle skirt and david black shir and white tie. Of course with Mickey ears. 

Leanna brian and Thomas were mr and mrs incredible with jack jack. Very cute. 

watched the parade and the special fireworks. Late night as we got home at midnight.

Played golf this morning. Sarah did a good job but got a little tired so she stopped early proud of her for even trying. She found out that it does not hurt to swing a golf club

After golf brian leanna Thomas Ralene and I went to visit a missionary frien in Tampa. Well I was holding Thomas and had walked to a big mirror in the hallway. Thomas was looking at himself. His mother walked by and spoke to him he said mom mom. As clear as a bell. Well leanna cried as this is first time the words have been clear. No doubt he said mom mom befor he said grandpa. I tried but lost 

The duplex is coming along good even with the large amount of rain they have many of the room studs put up for the upstairs. It really look like a house.

Went to have lunch with Mary poppins Winnie the poo, tiger,Alice in wonderland, and the mad hatter. Thomas enjoyed them all then fell asleep on aunt sarah. David did not go with us since he was sick. Then we went to the animal kingdom. We did the safari ride. It was very good. Of course Thomas fell asleep. But woke up hot. So we stopped and came back to the roo. To rest

This evening we went back to magic kingdom and did a couple of thing that Thomas would enjoy. 

Then right befor the fireworks he fell asleep. 

So it was a good day. David started feeling better

Sarah is still not sick. 

What a day

Started at magic kingdom  first thing we did was spend time with Mickey Mouse. Thomas really enjoyed mickey. The trip was worth it when Thomas played with mickey'snose

Did some rides the went back to condo to take a nap

Then we went to Epcot and had supper with Mickey

Got up early and drove to OKC. Thomas gave me a big grin when I walked in the door. He knows how to butter up his grandpa. Already

Sarah Thomas and I spent the day going places and getting ready for Disney. 

Had lunch with charlie and nick thigpen. Nick recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan  it was good to see him. Charlie had a court case here and the. Was going to spend some time with grandchildren  it is always good to spend time with charlie. 

Tonight david and I fixed snack food for the trip. He fixed Chex mix and I fixed gorp (raisin, peanuts,craisins, and M and m's). 

I think we are ready. We leave a free work tomorrow

Seems like a long time I wrote on this blog. Yep missed last night. 

So church was good. Still studying in Hebrew.had lunch with sonny and judy. Then came home and took a nap. Tried to watch a little football but mainly talked on the phone 

We had small group at bill and larue's house tonight instead of church. Had a good time studying and just talking. 

Sarah is doing good. She going to try teaching in November and December.  I think she can do it and it will do her good.  

So my grand niece called me this afternoon. She scored a goal in soccer. First goal for her in 5 years of playing. She was excited. The ending score was 1 --1. So good thing she scored.

Went to church this morning. Very good. Then I came home snd took a nap. For some reason I was tired. Then I watched some football

Went back to church this evening. Again it was good. Then this evening we celebrated September birthdays and anniversaries. 

I am not going to OKC in the morning. I will be taking care of Thomas Thursday and Friday so will head down to OKC then. 

Sarah was released from the hospital this afternoon. She said she was doing good but was real hungry.

Got up early and worked on my windows. Did some measureing. Then I went to listen to becky speak to 78 United Methodist women. She did a very good job. 

Then I went to order blinds for the house. It will be 2 weeks before the blinds come I

A lot of work done in the duplex. After taking cinnamon rolls to the high schoolers i went to my brothers. Brad was home so i had breakfast with him. He is headed back to virginia beach. Then david and suzzann took me to see carolyn herold. She is in rrhab in wichita. She is very weak but wanted us to watch her do therapy. She only has a wisper for a voice. She is determined to get stronger. 

Sarah is receiving day 2 of the chemo drip. She seems to be in good spirits

9-25-14

So got up and loaded the car with Sarah's sewing stuff. Then we went to check her blood then meet with the OKC doctor   Then we checked her into the hospital. She started chemo drip this afternoon. But she checked into the hospital at 10:00. We took her sewing stuff up to the room and she will sew   That is how she passes the time 

I headed home. Got home just in time to change clothes. There was a life choice fundraiser in joplin this evening.  Sarah palin was the guest speaker. She gave a good speech.

Sarah had two doctors appointments today. They said that the cat scan showed that her tumors had shrunk by 10 to 40%. Depending on the tumor. The large on shrunk over 20%. Both doctors were happy that the chemo was working as good as it did. So the plan is to repeat the process. So sarah will do 2 cycles of chemo drip rest then chemo drip and rest.  Then back to m d Anderson 

We were pleased with the results. Thanks for the prayers and please keep them coming.  

I will take sarah to the hospital tomorrow do start her chemo drip.

So we left at 3:30 this morning. Made it to m d anderson with no problem. Sarah had tests all afternoon. We just made it to the hotel. So I for one will have an early night. 

It was a cool morning to drive.

Left at 3 to drive to OKC. Thomas was happy to see me when I arrived at 7. So I took care of Thomas all day. Such hard duty a grandpa can hardly stand it. But I will try to do again next week

Tonight leanna sarah Thomas and I had supper then we planned the trip to Disney for Brian's 50 th birthday. Sarah designed a cool t shirt  design for the birthday boy 

Early in the morning david sarah and I will head to md anderson for tests and appointments. Looking forward to it in some respects but dreading why we are doing this. Cancer is not a good thing for humans.

Went to church. After church we had a meeting about going to Israel. Then I went to my brothers. Brad and his girl friend were home. So got to see brad and jelly. And becky and Elena and Erica plus sonny and judy and david and sarah and Leanna Brian and Thomas

Made it home from there in time for evening church. 

Now I need to get ready to drive to OKC in the morning

Got up because Thomas was hungry. That boy likes to eat. 

We just rested and talked  then we got ready for the concert/cookout. 

This evening we had 61 at the house. We had hot dogs hamburgers and stuff they the church ladies brought. Good stuff. No one went hungry. Thanks to all the cooks that made this possible. Pastor Greg had a short message on being steadfast in our faith. 

David and sarah surprised me and made it here right before the concert. It was good to see them

Took cookies to the duplex for the high school students. They are progressing

Went to town to get groceries and stuff. Leanna Thomas and I think brian are coming tonight. Should get here about midnight

It started raining at 3. We got 1 1/4 I inch.  So that means work at the duplex didn't happen. Did have to pump water out of duplex

Was busy this morning. The duplex looks like a bee hive. Eddie giving orders to about 30 students. Pretty amazing

Sent more money to Uganda to help with the orphans. You would think the government would be glad someone is trying to take care of the many orphans in the country. But they try to impede ishmail and pastor john as much as possible as they work with orphans

Spent the afternoon getting ready for the concert and cookout this weekend 

Then I worked on finances

Church was good still studying the Christian doctrines and how they developed

Thomas and I went to visit ac and virginia. Had a good time. Virginia gave him a ball. He lived playing with the ball

Then after a nap we went to see sarah. Had a good visit wit David and sarah. Sarah had 3 balls that were smaller than the one virginia had. Thomas was able to play with these balls easily. 

Ok the good news. I filled up with gass I. OKC. The price was 2.88. It has been a long time since has was that low

Ok you caught me. Last night the picture of Thomas was eating peas not green beans. 

The east side duplex basement has most of the studs. Today they put the garage wall in. Poured concrete. In the morning they will take the forms down

Sarah had a reaction to the chemo. She is fine just needed a little  extra medicine to take care of the effects of chemo 

She was going to sew today.

A lot of woolk done at the duplex. The boys made two mistakes but the advisors caught both. Adjustments made. It is beginning to look like a house.

Talked to sarah. She is feeling much better. 

Thomas had his first green beans tonight. Yep he liked them.

Went to lions club meeting. Then went to check cows at my brothers

On my way home I stopped by the duplex. Wow there were over 20 boys working

Then also the concrete guys came back and dug the footing for the garages

 So it is really liking like a house

Sarah is doing better today. Her voice sounded stronger and she said she felt good

This afternoon I rode the combine with david as he cut the beans. Not my field but rich field. Beans made over 40 bushel per acr

Had a good day just taking care of Thomas. 

Sarah is still having a little trouble. She doesn't have the energy she usually has. But that is expected. 

Still we went out to eat and planned a trip to Disney world. 

I headed home tonight. It was a great night to have the top down and drive home. Made it just fine. The animals were glad I returned home

Left the house and drove tonokc this morning. The moon was bright all the way. The moon actually went down just as I was getting off the turnpike. 

Thomas gave me a big smile when I got here. That was my pay. Thanks Thomas

So we spent the day then this evening I went to see david and sarah. Sarah is doing good. She is having a little nauseous feeling and her back is hurting. But she said she has a support that keeps her going. So keep praying and dropping her notes 

Tomorrow will be more of the same 

Oh today they started putting sticks of wood in my duplex. A dream is becoming a reality

Church was good. Then I decided to have fried chicken. I don't do that often but it tasted good

Then I watched golf and football. Oh I took a nap

We had small groups tonight. We watched a lesson on the blood moon. Very interesting. It raised a lot of questions. 

Must get some sleep as I go to OKC in the morning. Here I come grandson. Ready or not.

Pretty low key day. Rather dreary this morning. So I started working on a puzzle

It is way hard

Then I sprayed for bugs. Yes to keep them away not to intice them to come into the house

Then I worked on finances. Whew. There is way too much month left. 

Now it is back to the puzzle. Not making much progress

Thomas is 6 months old today. He had his 6 month checkup today. He is in the 75% in height and weight for his age. Leanna didn't write them down so he has to call the doctor Monday and get the height and weight. But it sound good

I purchased some more ladybugs and took them to the cemetery I have been releasing ladybugs every 6 months  then I went to the Labette county football game. Well the game started late because of weather. Then it started later because of more weather. But like good fans most of us just sat in the rain and watched the game. Then the half time activity was to introduce each of the senior athletes and their parents. Well they had introduced all of the football players and were starting on the volleyball senior when one of the football players passed out. So for over 20 minutes he was lying on the ground getting medical attention. They finally secured his head and put him in a gurney and into the ambulance.  But here is what was neat. While he was lying on the ground the students started getting on the field. I think all lc students were on the field in a circle praying for this young man. No adult were In the circle  I was sitting close to the student section and there were no students left In the stands. 

Oh independence scored 21 points in the first quarter.  Labette county has a girl field goal kicker. She made the first points for Altamont.  She also kicked an extra point after a touchdown it rained until after the third period started. Independence won the game. 

Sarah is I. The hospital getting her chemo drip. She has to take a 72 hour drip. She is feeling good and thanks everyone for the prayers

9-4-14

Spent the morning with my chain saw. I cut down a tree that I had planted in 1976. It was an apple tree. This is the last fruit tree from the 1976 fruit trees. So it was kind of sad but I already have trees that have produced  fruit that I planted in 2010. So it is not like I won't have trees. Anyway cut the tree down then used my stump grinder to get the stump ground

Sarah reported to the hospital. She is receiving chemo for the next 72 hours. When this cycle is over we will go the Houston for a MRI to see if the chemo is working. Sarah has a positive outlook

9-3-14

Had a roof leak after the big rains. First thing I went to check on my brothers cows. Then I crawled into the attic.  I found that the leak came from the fireplace. So I got. Y ladder out and got on the roof. 

Remember what I did last time I was on a ladder. So no broken ribs this time. I got some tar and went back up on the roof and put tar all around the chimney. 

Then I went into town to see if any work was being done at the lot. Nothing. But the water had been drained. That was good. I did some domestic things around the house.  Then after lunch I mowed. The grass was the tallest it had been all summer. Finally got it mowed 

This evening went to church. We are studying where we got our doctrines and the scripture.  Tonight was on Augustine and what he wrote about. The books city of God and confessions are still being printed even though he wrote them in in the fourth century. I think that is amazing

Spent the day taking care of Thomas. What a hardship. Then I headed back to Kansas. Made it home. I had 4 1/2 inch in the rain gage.

Drove to OKC we had a family cookout. Ate too much. 

We did swim. Thomas loved being in the water. He kicked his legs and laughed for abor an hour. He is a tired little boy

Then the big boys had a nerf war. There were 6 warriors. 3 on each side. Notice in the picture getting ready for the war. And that's only half of the guns they had

Church was good today. Then I came home and worked on paperwork for the duplex. Spent all afternoon. Will have to finish it in the morning

We watched the movie God is not dead at church. It was really good. Ok I didn't fall asleep. That is how I rate movies. Sleep or no sleep. 

8-30-14

Headed to OKC today for another birthday party for sarah. Was presently pleased when I got to talala and oolagah. Both towns had American flags flying to celebrate Labor Day. I loved seeing the flags flying all along the highway all through both towns. 

Had a good time at david and sarah.  There were several people there. I spent most of the time outside by the pool watching the kids swim. Then after everyone left I headed home. I got 5 miles from the house and two deer were by the side of the road. Usually that means they will cross right in front of oncoming traffic. I was lucky that they did not cross in front of me.

Went to the lot early. Was supposed to pour basement floor  chance of rain was high but we started and had all but one yard in basement when the rain started. So we let it rain (couldn't stop it anyway). Then we used squeggies and got the water out if the basement. Then the day turned nice. We have a basement floor. 

I checked my brothers cows then I came home and worked the updated plans for the duplex. 

Long day but glad we got the floor in.

They worked at the duplex. They put the water barrier down and put wire and rebar  we are ready to put the concrete floor tomorrow   

Had lunch with sonny and judy. They are headed to Alaska. Had to get my final instructions. 

This afternoon I worked duplex plans. 

This evening had supper with 12 class of 1966 graduates. Yep second week in a row we have met. Had a good evening.

Worked at the duplex this morning. Then I rode the combine with roger. He picked 18 tows at a time. Got my fields by 1;30 then I helped them move to chetopa. Church was good. We talked about the persecuted church

Sarah had her appointment to give blood. Her white blood cell count is good. She not having any adverse affects to this round of chemo

So I headed home. Had a lot of lightning the last 10 miles. No rain. Roger is picking corn in the north field. So if no rain they will pick both fields around the house tomorrow

Made it to OKC at 7 this morning. Was greeted with a big smile from Thomas when I walked in the door. We just hung out today. We had lunch with Leanna then we went to david and sarah. STSh was feeling real good. So we went shopping. Mainly I pushed the cart and sarah shopped. But we got some nice clothes for Thomas

Then this evening we planned our trip to Disney. Brian will be. 50 this year I obtained a couple condo's for Disney so we needed to figure exactly what we were going to do  very productive evening

Church was good. Then I has lunch with sonny and judy and their church. Enjoy that group   This evening we studied about the wisdom of Solomon 

Yesterday I needed to sew something so I got a needle and thread. For an hour I tried to thread the needle.  I even found a head light to abed light on the needle. Al to no avail. So I went to see Hanna day. She has young eyes and she threaded my needle for me. Thanks Hanna 

I talked to sarah today. She does not appear to have any adverse affects from the chemo. Keep praying

Worked at the duplex this morning. We have electricity. The plumber put some plastic pipe on. He thought he would have the basement plumbed by Tuesday. Then the basement guy will pour the floor

It is starting to look like a building. 

Sarah sounded good when I talked to her. No adverse reactions to the chemo

Thomas rolled over. He doesn't rember how but I am sure will do it again real soon

Busy day. Spent the morning getting things arrange for the duplex. I think I am going to stay busy making decisions about the duplex

Then I went to visit the kesslers. Kayla and dan were home on leave before heading off to Italy. Yes they had both Lydia and Andrew with them. Also Lindsay and peter and Floyd were there. Jason and Accala were there also of course Eliza. So all 5 of the younger grandchildren were there. Had fun watching the kids

Then this afternoon Elijah and I rode the combine with david. I think Elijah had fun picking corn.

Spent the day in joplin with sonny and judy. Judy had doctor appointments all morning. Then we shopped at various stores. Made it home in time to to to meet some class of 66 classmates at a local Resturant. Had a good time. There were 12 that showed up for supper. 

We laughed we talked and we told big big stories. Sarah Tullis took lots of pictures and will be putting pictures on her Facebook page

No workers at the lot. Kind of bummed out

I spent the morning deciding about doors and windows. Still have to make specific choices but know in general what doors and windows 

Then I went to have limch with sonny and judy. 

Then I came home and mowed both the lot and the house 

This evening at church we walked around the grade school and the high school and prayed for the students and staff for the new year. Yes school starts in the morning

Took care of Thomas today. Took birthday gifts to virginia. And then we had lunch with ac and virginia. 

This evening I spent with david and sarah then headed back to Altamont 

Manny duties are only for. 2 days a week

Sarah is having a little nausea as a result of the chemo last week. Continue to pray for david and her as they travel this cancer road.

Got up early and drove to OKC  started manny duty again 

My brother in law who is way older said I would never regret taking care of Thomas  he and his wife have moved toMinnesota to take care of grand children. Just trying to be like him. They say the best compliment is to mimic someone's actions. Thanks rich. 

So I am trying to help Leanna and brian

This evening I spent with sarah and david. She is doing  pretty good. Very tired and a little confused. Getting some rest will help that. You sure dont get rest in a hospital

Had a good day at church. Had lunch with sonny and judy. 

Took a long nap this afternoon. 

Had a little water in the basement. The concrete guys will sump pump it out. 

As we left church it was lightning. Maybe more rain tonight

Drove to hospital to be with david and sarah. It is her 40 th birthday  took cookie candles and balloons  mike and melissa came so we got this cool picture 

Sarah seems to be doing good. Positive attitude. No major reactions to the chemo. Keep praying
