Thursday

Barbara slept late then we went to therapy. She seems to get stronger when she does therapy. Then we drove to OKC we met David Sarah Leanna and Brian for dinner. It was good to spend time with them.
Barbara did pretty with the drive down she is tired but her legs did not swell

We had to put Trouble (our cat) to sleep this morning. He was given to us by a Girl Scout friend in 1996. Thanks Cathy He lived a good life but was having major health issues.

We have a doctors appt in the morning then we will try to visit two friends that have had recent surgeries

Wednesday

Barbara is very tired today. It is Wednesday of chemo week. Last time
Wednesday was a hard day. She didn't hurt she was just tired.
We got to see John and Rosy again. They will head back to Indiana later this week. We head to OKC tomorrow after therapy. We have a doctors appointment on Friday.

I was able to get Barbara an electric mobility scooter. She will use it when we are out in groups.

Tuesday

Today was a therapy day. Barbara slept 12 hours last night after taking chemo. She seems to do better after therapy her brother John and wife Rosy came by. It was good seeing them. Then Donna from church came by with some food. Thanks Donna.

Barbara took her second day of chemo. So far no sickness. She is much stronger than me.

We received about 3/4 inch of rain so wheat harvest has been slowed down a little.

Monday

Happy Memorial Day. I hope you had a great day and that you thought about those that have died and what they meant to you.

We had a fair day Barbara did very well but about 3 she got real tired. So she napped

Tonight begins her 5 day of maintenance chemo. She is taking 380 mg of temador each night. She doesn't seem to have any ill effects. Last time she got real tired on Wednesday. We will see this time.

Just had one of those may flash storms. Lightning thunder and hard rain for 15 minutes

It will slow the wheat harvest down

Sunday

It was good to go to church. Barbara's brother John came to visit today. It was good to visit with John and Rosy. After church we went to eat with my brother. Then Barbara got very tired. I brought her home and she took a nap. She rested the rest of the day. I think rest does her good.
I am amazed at Barbara. They sing at church and they say it is on page ... Well I open the hymnal to that page but barbara doesn't need the book to know the words. I guess she has a lot more musical ability than I will ever have

Received a letter of encouragement from Diane. Thanks we needed that

Satyrday

Busy day. I got up and was spraying the fruit trees at 6:30. Then I started mowing. Barbara had asked me to let her sleep until 9 so I tried to stay busy and outside so I wouldn't bother her

Then I got ready to go to a sale where they had a mobility scooter Barbara didn't feel that she could go so she just stayed home and rested. I didn't buy any at the sale. I came home and finished mowing. Then Barbara and I just sat outside and enjoyed the quiet (have you ever watched wheat ripen)

That is our excitement. Barbara kept her feet up and has no swelling so it was a good day. She still loves to eat and even likes my cooking.

I thought I told everyone this before but I will say it again

When we saw the doctor on Monday we asked him for a new timeline. As you know the doctors gave Barbara 11 to 22 weeks to live. Well that has passed so Barbara asked the doctor what the prognosis was. He said that he didn't like to give date but that the mean for someone with glio blastomia multi forma was 22 months if the did chemo and radiation

Well we have done both and he said that is just a mean. He said he is having some patients that have made 5 years. So it really depends on God. He did say that Barbara would have some good days and some bad days. His goal is to minimize the bad days.

So we thank you for the many prayers and please keep praying.

Friday

Barbara didn't feel good this morning. She felt like a wet noodle she didn't want to go to therapy. O CEO she got there she got stronger. After therapy we met Sonny and Judy and put flowers on gravesites It was good to be able to remember family.

Barbara came home and took a nap. She seemed to do pretty good tonight

Thurssay

This was a long day. Cousin david and Suzanne was at the house at 7:30 to drive to Manhatten to see aunt Margaret and uncle Robert. We spent several hours just visiting and catching up. We also got to see cousin Miriam

Made it back home at 7:30. Barbara's feet and ankles are swollen. Will need to keep them elevated tomorrow

Wednesday

Well got up today and Barbara said she was not going to therapy. She went and then we went to lunch. Therapy makes her very tired. But she is excited that the doctor said she did not have any cancer present in her brain she knows it will come back bit for now the prayers have worked and she does not have cancer

So we are going to be involved in the relay for life on June 15. We have 4 survivors and 11 others that will be o the track for 12 hours. If you want to donate to the cancer society now is the time. If you would like to donate 5 dollars then we can get a (luminary) in the name of someone who is a survivor or even in memory of someone who has passed away. If you want send the money to me and I will get the appropriate luminary in place. If you do that then I will need the money prior to June 14.

It should be pretty exciting to see Mike who is a survivor over 2 years Barbara a survivor of 6 months Michelle who is a survivor of One year and LeAva who is still going through treatment all walking the first lap together.

God is so awesome and is allowing us to honor these 4 individuals

Tuesday

Got to David and Sarah's late so this morning all we did was get up and head to Kansas. We made several stops but made it to Kansas by 3. Barbara took a nap then we just relaxed. Received a call from dr finks office with good information about the blood work. Most markers were within Range except Barbara's blood sugar. We can't seem to get it down as long as she takes steroids.

It is good to relax and let Barbara regain her strength

Sunday

Went to church.
Barbara is having trouble with her left side and walking is difficult

Our children are so nice to us. We have a room in their house Thanks David and Sarah

Today we drove to Dallas to be ready for doctors on Monday. We stayed with cousin Danny and Cherie

We spent the evening looking looking at their Israel pictures. Last month they were walking in Israel where Jesus walked. Very good pictures and stories

Thanks for you prayers Barbara is very apprehensive about the appointments tomorrow

Saturday

We drove to OKC to spend time with David Sarah Leanna and Brian. We will head to Dallas tomorrow for doctor apts on Monday

Barbara got sick today. I think it was something she ate. I will watch and make sure. Her stomached is very sensitive. She was also very weak today. But she slept most of the way to OKC and also at David's house.

We will go to church in the morning then head to Dallas

Friday

Today we slept late. We got up and went to visit Sonny and Judy. Barbara felt pretty good and we played games then she got tired so we came home to take a nap. We rested all afternoon then went to visit David and Suzanne and Matt.
This was the first day that Barbara felt like visiting with anyone. All the swelling in the feet and legs is gone.

We received a call from dr Finks office that according to her blood work she was fine

She is still tired and runs out of energy quickly.

But hey she does have two holes in her head. We go for oncologist visit on Monday. We will head to OKC Saturday

Thursday

We went to therapy today. Barbara spent 2 hours in therapy. She was tired and came home and slept. We had a telephone repairman come and install a land line and also Internet. Barbara slept most of the time the repairman was here.

No more therapy this week.

Wednesday

Barbara went to therapy today. It took 2 hours. She came home exhausted. The therapist told her to rest a little. Not Barbara. She slept for 3 hours. Then we went for her eye exam.

I went to church and Barbara rested.

It was a busy day but we made it.

Tuesday

Let Barbara sleep late. The we went to town to have weekly blood check. Came home and Barbara napped. She is just very tired.

She went to bed early.

Tomorrow we have gait training and other therapy. Hope Barbara has the energy to complete the training

Sunday

Sunday is church day. Barbara got up and said she was too tired to go to church. Right before time to go she woke up and said she needed to go teach her Sunday School class. So she did. She had 4 young men today. Leanna and Brian helped her teach then we all went to church service

Then we went to lunch with Brian and Leanna. They headed home and we came back to take naps.

I like taking a nap. That is one of the benefits of taking care of someone who is tired. We both get to take naps

Saturday

We had a party tonight. 22 weeks ago the doctor told Barbara that she had 11 weeks to live if she did not have surgery and chemo. He said she had only 22 weeks if she had surgery chemo and radiation

She may be tired but she still very much alive. We thank God for that.

Anyway Leanna wanted to celebrate with Barbara so we has a 22 celebration party

So we had a fire in the fire pit and roasted hot dogs and bratwurst Then we had cake and ice cream and s'mores

I think 32 helped us celebrate

Sunday is coming so we have to get some sleep so we can learn from the Pastors message

Friday

Leanna and Brian were here so we had a good day. We tried to keep Barbara sitting with her legs up to reduce the swelling. It began to work.

We were able to relax a little. Barbara and Leanna took naps while Brian and I played golf. It felt good to hit the ball and be out on a golf course

Looking forward to another day that Got has prepared for us

Thursday

We had a good day today. I didn't feel well this morning so I took two naps. Barbara took naps just to bond with me

She did pretty good today. She is just tired. We went to the physical therapist today and we have an appointment for an evaluation next week.

We did get everything unpacked and most of it washed

Barbara's blood sugar is still high so we are monitoring that also the swelling in her legs is going down as she sits with her legs elevated

Wednesday

Home sweet home

We just made it home. We had a full day
First weenie David's dog ran away. Sarah a I found him. The Barbara and I went to see our family doctor. She was worried about:
1. Low blood pressure
2. High blood sugar
3. Swollen feet and legs
4. Osteoporosis made worse as a result of steroid usage
5. Tested Barbara for a UTI

Then we rushed to pickup the ladybugsmiracleflight t-shirts. I now have all those that you ordered. If you want me to send it to you it will be $15.50. For shirt and shipping

Then we went to meet dr Keole at procure. The had a fire on the second floor so we had to evacuate the facility. We have an appointment in July. He wants to see Barbara in the month that dr Fink does not. That way they will be able to monitor her closely

So we made it home and Barbara has already gone to sleep

He appetite is still great and she is still tired

God has been good to us and we think we have great doctors.

Tuesday

Left Amarillo this morning drove to OKC

Barbara got here and took a nap. Sonny and Judy headed home they got home at 6:30. Thanks for letting Barbara and I go with you on your 45yh anniversary cruise. It was great fun

After a short nap Barbara and I went shopping. Then we went out to eat with david sarah Leanna and brian.
We are so thankful that we have children that we enjoy being around

Barbara seemed to get better as the evening went on

We have 3 doctors appoint and then we head home to Altamont

We had a great time but need to be home

Monday

Ok the wind was blowing so we did not get to go up in a hot air balloon. Instead we spent the morning wit Sharon Angie Mike Chris and Christy. What a good substitute for hot air balloon.

Then we drove to amarillo Barbara had a hard day as yesterday was very tiring. So we stopped early and will make it to OKC Tuesday

Sunday

Well we made it to la early this morning. 1:30. Then we got up to drive to Albuquerque we were supposed to be on a balloon ride at 6 on Monday morning. Well about 180 miles we received that bad weather would prohibit a balloon ride. We drove on to a hotel

Barbara had a bad day just sitting was hard on her bladder and swelling of the legs. We did stop every 2 hours for rest stops but still Barbara was and is wore out

We are going to take it easy tomorrow

Saturday

Ok we have spent the day getting to and at the airport. We are on the plane. We will be kate getting to LAX. Something about the cleaners not cleaning the plane.

Anyway we had a great time and are glad we came

Barbara did her final chemo last night for this round. She has fallen asleep several times in the wheel chair.

Monday

Very slow day. Barbara was tired so she rested most of the day.

I was able to finish mowing the grass. Then we had the tv repairman come since the last storm damaged the dish so we were not getting reception. Now at least we can watch the news.

Barbara said it was good to be able to teach Sunday School but it made her very tired.

Wednesday

Today we are at Kona. Barbara and I did not get off the ship. We would have had to tender to get off and there was no way we could tender with the electric scooter. So we stayed on ship. We rested and we ate. The we had a massage. Barbara had a milk massage which is toile your slim soft. Since she is taking chemo her akin is very dry.

So far the cho has not made her sick just very tired. We are just relaxing and enjoying the cruise.

Thursday

Slow day. We are in kauai barbara and I did not go off the ship. We have been here before so we have seen most everything. Good thing because the chemo is making Barbara very tired. She slept most of the morning. Also resting in the afternoon.

She has not gotten sick from the chemo. Just very tired.

Two more nights of the chemo then 23 days to rest

Thanks for the prayers. Way back on dec 10 when Barbara became a cancer survivor we prayed for a miracle. Well we have seen miracles everyday. Thank you God for taking care of us each day

Tuesday

Made it to the big island. Took a helicopter ride up to the volcano to see the red glow of magna(larva). Pretty neat.

Barbara did very good with her chemo. She had a little bit of upset stomach but no vomiting I think that is because of your prayers. She was very tired this morning but wanted to go see the volcano.
