3-31-14

Spent the morning putting things in place to begin building a duplex in Altamont. Then at lunch I made it to my brothers. Then sonny and I were able to beat judy. She has been unbeatable for some time but today she lost.  Thanks for lunch 

Then I came home and took a nap. Spent the rest of the day with finances since April is coming. Wow where has this year gone. 1/4 of the year is gone. 

3-30-14

My Sunday school lesson was on Daniel. Then after church I took a nap then three days walked over to visit. They brought with them two friends. Had a good visit. 

For church tonight we watched a movie. Then we celebrated the march birthdays. Made it home and am ready for bed. Have a busy week scheduled. 

3-29-14

Long day. But I slept on the sofa so making progress

David Suzzann and Matt tooke to Manhattan for aunt Margaret's. 90 birthday

I thought I had it made as favorite nephew. I tried using the broken rub and stool I came but david beat me out 

His name tag said David favorite nephew 

How depressing. Oh sure david wrote his own name tag 

Had a great time. Aunt Margaret was pleased that so many e to help celebrate

Since she is a die heart k state fan I got her a Oklahoma state hat. At least she wore it for the picture

3-28-14

Figured out that if I sit and sleep in the red chair that I can get up and down without pain. Much better that getting in and out of the green chair. So I rearranged the living room. Then sonny and judy came by and helped me arrange it even better. 

So had a good day. Didn't need much medicine. Did drive into town to see if I could handle being in a car

Face timed Thomas. He is hungry all the time. Brian said he is gaining weight so I need to get down there to see that boy

3-27-14

Felt like uncle Lloyd. I slept in a chair last night.  Didn't think I could get into and out of the bed uncle Lloyd slept in a chair for years. Still taking medicine and have a lot of pain but know that my accident could have been worse. 

I drove to my brothers for lunch. Wanted to see if I could handle the drive. Yes played cards and let judy beat me. Ok I tried real hard to bet her but she is on a run of beating me

This evening herb brought dinner to the house. Thanks for the ribs. They were great

3-26-14

So much for having fun. Had an accident this morning. Fell off a ladder and broke 2 ribs and cracked another. So my having fun cutting wood is going to have to wait a while. Went to emergency room and had X-rays done. I have a big bruise on my right side and under my right arm. Won't be playing golf for a while. But I will be able to eat ice cream. Ok just a random thought 

So I take medicine and sleep   Just like my grandson. His medicine of choice is milk. He is eating a lot. He is growing. May have to make a trip to see him since I am not cutting trees

Have had offers to drive me to leanna and Brian's to see Thomas  neighbor have already brought me food  I think Hanna day needs to start a catering business. Great meal. Thanks

Plane on eating at sonny and judy tomorrow. I can still cook but friends want to help. 

Thanks for the prayers. Dr said it will take 3 months to heal. Maybe roger and I can go on a long cruise and just enjoy life

3-25-14

Worked downtown cutting a tree all day. It is the same tree we worked on yesterday. Finally got it done. The other 28 trees are much smaller. Looking forward to tomorrow. 

Go ahead call me crazy. I enjoy being on the back side of a chain saw. Maybe because you need a strong back and a weak mind. Saved all you from saying that I was crazy. 

Talked to leanna and Thomas. They are doing fine. He is eating a lot and growing. I may have to take a trip to Oklahoma to see that boy. 

Not tomorrow I need to cut trees

3-24-14

Spent the day cutting trees. We started working on the biggest tree and we did not get that tree done. So we still have 29 trees to cut. We should get the big tree cut tomorrow   After that it wille a lot easier. 

So I am a little tired tonight. But I did take a hot shower and feel better

3-23-14

Went to church. Then came home and worked in the yard for a couple of hours. Even though it was cold I do not think it hurt my trees. So I should have fruit this year if it doesn't freeze. The trees are beginning to bud out so any freeze would cause them not to bear fruit this year

3-22-14

It was cold this morning. Spent some time outside but didn't get much done. It did warm up to over 55 this afternoon. Elijah and I went for a run. Found that the hay bales on the corner were burning. It was ok since they were set by jerry who farms the property. We monitored the bales so that nothing burned that was. To supposed to burn

Went to a sale but didn't buy anything

Happy spring. It was a great day to be outside. So I worked outside until about 2. 

My fruit trees are budding out. Hope we don't have a freeze. If we do the fruit trees will be hurt 

This evening I went to the home show in parsons. Talked to a couple of guys about fireplace inserts. I will try to use the one I have another year 

Thanks sarah for helping me fix my email problem. I was unable to receive emails and sarah was able to help me get my email back. Thanks you are awesome

3-20-14

Went to the funeral of ab thompson. He was my parents rural carrier for many years

Then I came home and worked on my wood pile. By the time it got dark I had finished restocking the wood but I will need to clean up in the morning. Need to work on my Sunday school lesson in the morning

Thomas is still doing good. When I talked to leanna I could hear him in the background. I am glad he is doing good.  

3-19-14

Visited Kayla, Lydia, and Andrew before they headed back to virginia beach. Pray that she has a safe drive with two small children

Also got to see Dwight  nancy and Elisa. I always enjoy spending time with them

 Then I went to my brothers to visit with becky Elena and Erica before they headed back to Kansas City

And sonny and judy. 

Did a little work at the farm. 

3-18-14

Woke up this morning and took more pictures of my grandson. I told leanna that I would stay until after she saw the doctor for the weigh in. Leanna has been very anxious about the weight gain of Thomas. So anyway I fed him this morning and then he proceeded to throw up all over me. Yep trying to burp hi and he gave me a shower. Oh well that is the reason we had washing machines 

So we went to the doctor and he weighed 6 pounds 12 oz. that was a weight gain of 12 oz in 5 days. The doctor was impressed. So leanna started relaxing a little bit. 

Yesterday I put together the glider and odoman. Today I tackled the bed and changing table. Got both of them put together. Then I headed back to Altamont. 

3-17-14

Happy st Patricks day. Well had trouble sleeping so I decided that I needed to drive to OKC to se my grandson. 

So I left early. I got to OKC before lunch. It was good to see Thomas and leanna. About noon grandma Raelene came over and between the two of us we just held Thomas. 

Then I spent some time putting together a glider and foot stool that leanna and brian got from babies r us.  

I did not plan on staying in OKC tonight but leanna and brian convinced me that I should stay. So I went to walmart and purchased a change of clothing and toiletrie items.

3-16-14

Went to church this morning. No boys in my class so I went to an adult class. Then to church. After church the pastor asked if I would do the lesson for tonight.  So I came home and tried to prepare a lesson. I taught on the necessity to assemble together and to study the word of God

No one threw tomatoes so I survived.  

It snowed today but the ground was so warm that it did not stick on the ground. We did get about an inch of rain

Tomorrow is st. Patricks day. Don't forget to wear the green. 

3-15-14

I told toy david herold can fix anything. So he called and said that even though the spark plug would spark it was not firing under compression. Duh everyone knows that. Like had no idea. Anyway david said all I needed was a specific spark plug. So I got a specific spark plug and put it in the stump grinder and magic.  It started. 

So it is ready to grind more stumps. No I do not hire out. I stay busy just doing mine and the farm and a few friends

It tried to rain this afternoon and is supposed to snow tomorrow. So I brought more firewood in and started a fire. Feels good

Am tired. 

Talked to leanna Thomas and brian. They are doing fine. Thomas is hungry and wants to eat. 

Meh eats poops and sleeps. All are good for newborns

3-14-14

Was working on paperwork and at 8 the sheriff came to visit. He had a warrant for me. It seems that I still owe money to the city of Topeka for not paying the water bill. He said that we had the same problem earlier. He took my social security number and date of birth. He said I was the wrong guy. He was not serving the warrant. Wrong robert thompson. 

So after he left I got my stack of paperwork out that I have collected from previous attempts to serve a robert thompson. I called the attorney and questioned their ability to find robert thompson. They assured me that they had blocked my address since it was very apparent that I was the wrong robert thompson. They told me that there are over a 100 robert thompson in kansas. Hopefully this will cease

So then I tried working on my chain saw. Got it running. Then I tried working on my stump grinder. Did not get it running. So I took it to david herold  he said he thought he could fix it. He can fix anything. 

Got home in time to run over to help neighbor who had some cows out. Police had notified them of cows out and they were out of town. Dwayne had all the work done by the time I got there

Then I came home and tried watching kansas play Iowa state. Good game but Iowa state won. So now it looks like baylor is beating Texas

But am tired and need to get some sleep 

My grandson face timed me tonight and he was playing the piano. Wow not only is he good looking and smart but also talented. I don't think I am prejudiced  

3-13-14

Went to my brothers. Did a little at the farm then went to his house to work. We dug more post holesand set a gate. Got it done. Then I headed home to get ready for city council meeting

I have applied to build a duplex in Altamont. So I should keep off the streets and out of trouble. 

It will keep me busy for the next year and keep my mind active and me active. Barbara and I had talked about using where uncle Lloyd lived. With barbara sick we put everything on hold. So now I am getting it started  lots of work. First thing is to get the lot cleared so we can put a building up. So next week I will be cutting most of the trees on the lot and getting more firewood. 

It looks like building will start in April if the weather allows.  

3-12-14

Happy Girl Scout birthday. It turned out to be a nice day weather wise  it was supposed to be cold and nasty. But it was actually a nice day

Helped put up the pinewood derby track at church. Then this evening we had the Grand Prix for Awana. We had 33 cars participate. It was a lot of fun. Each car got to race 4 times then the top 11 cars had a race off to see who was fastest. Lots of excitement.  

3-11-14

Went to my brothers to help him clear a fence row. Well we got that dun before lunch so we went ahead and built the fence. So we got it done but we are both very tired. 

Just as we finished the wind changed and it got colder. So it looks like we will have some cold in the morning. Nothing like they are having in Minnesota 

Thomas was tested for jaundice today again. His level was 13. Which is very good for his body. 

So he is doing better after working on his sun tan yesterday. 

3-10-14

It was good to be home. Just messed around this morning then I went to town to conduct business. Decided that I need to talk to my grandson so I called leanna and using FaceTime got to talk to Thomas.

Got caught up on all the mail. Pretty easy day 

Did you notice the beautiful sky this evening. I sat on the front porch with Elijah and just enjoyed life

3-9-14

Got up this morning and was at Leanna's house. Yeh leanna Thomas and brian all slept at home 

Went to church. I it was good. Then after church I went to david and sarah to help cook Chinese food. I wanted Chinese food for my birthday meal. So david sarah  and I prepared and cooked the meal. Had ac virginia sonny judy david sarah brian leanna and the new comer Thomas. Food was great company was fantastic

Then sonny and I headed home. I got sonny home and picked up my dog. Elijah and I headed home. Made it by midnight. It is always good to be home. 

Thanks for your prayers for mrs peck. They are going to put her mother in the nursing home in corn Oklahoma. That is the same place that ac's mother was. I know mrs peck appreciated your prayers and just wants to make sure her mother is taken care of properly

3-8-14

Spent the day at the hospital. We were told that probably we would be released. But it was 6 pm before they had the release papers. Anyway we now have Thomas at home. Leanna is very glad

Thomas was hungry when we got home and he actually grabbed the syringe   Yes leanna is feeding him by syringe until he learns how to feed from the breast

It is fun the be the grandpa.

3-7-14

Got to the hospital and Thomas was under the blue light. That means that his jaundice levels were high and they wanted to get them lower. So he is to be under the blue light for 24 hours. So I did not get to hold the boy at all. He only came out from under the lights to eat.

Leanna was released from the hospital. But she was allowed to stay in the same room with Thomas. Ok so was brian.  So leanna and I spent a slow day in the hospital room. Me trying to make sure Thomas was ok and leanna trying to get a little sleep

At 4:30 leanna gave him milk supplement because she was not producing enough.  Thomas liked that but then proceeded to poop and throw up. I am sure some remained but he got everything dirty. So I have brought all his clothes home to wash them and then take them back up in the morning

There is a good possibility that Thomas will be released in the morning. They will be testing him at 4:00 in the morning to see if his jaundice levels have decreased

Leanna was a little depressed that they were not coming home today. But the doctors want to keep Thomas at least one more day

3-6-14

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Heard from people I had not communicated with for a long time

Good day

Spent the day with my grandson and leanna. Tried to get her to sleep and let me just hold that little guy. But momma wanted to hold him also. So I shared. Especially during feeding times

Please be in prayer for the peck family. They have to make some hard decisions about her parents. It is hard when we become the card givers and assume the role of authority.  Sometimes our parents don't accept it very well. Also sherry  mother may need more care than david and sherry can provide

Pray that they will make the right decisions and that her parents will be able to accept that their child is now making hard life decisions

Seems like I have already written something today but here goes

Big day today at 8:15 this morning leanna finally had a baby boy after 36 hours of labor. Mom baby and father are all fine. 6 pounds 7 oz. 19 inches long. 

So I have spent the day holding a grandson or going to take a shower and a nap. Whew the. Ap felt good as I did t get much sleep the last two nights.  Not complaining  as leanna gave me exactly what I wanted for my birthday. A grandson. 

I didn't know I wanted a grandson for my birthday but glad to have the little guy. 

I am beginning to realize what all those grandparents have been saying. About now great it is to have a grandchild. I am going to try to enjoy him as much as possible

Update. Still in the hospital room. Leanna is dilated to a 10 but Thomas is not coming out to play. He likes it where it is nice and warm

So we are still in a holding pattern. Leanna has been in the hospital 32 hours

Ok left home and made it to OKC at 6:30 am. Leanna was in the hospital. So they have tried lots of things but nothing has made thomas come out into the world. But the nurse that has been with leanna all day told us that Thomas will come in the wee hours and that we need to get some sleep

So I have nothing to report but if I find out anything I will get on this blog and send out a message

I think thomas is going to be stubborn and independent.

Still cold today. Tried staying busy. Called sarah and david because a year ago their mother and mother in law died. Sarah us suck and david is working

This evening I too 1500 ladybugs out to the centenary. I had purchased some flowers so I went to put them on barbara grave. She has been gone a year. Some days it seems line yesterday and other days it seems so long ago. Still miss her a lot

Then Leanna called to say that at her doctors appointment the doctor noticed an abnormal fluid indicator. She thought that Leanna and brian should induce labor. So after some thought they are heading back to the hospital. Leanna will be there tonight preparing so they can start the inducing the morning. 

So Leanna will be at saint Anthony hospital in Oklahoma City. If all goes well she will have a baby tomorrow

Keep praying for them and the doctors

3-2-14

Made it to church. It actually wasn't bad. It is cold. After church I rested. Ok I took a nap then I met sonny and judy for a shrimp fry. No I didn't eat shrimp. I had chicken and it was real good. They just dumped buckets of shrimp on the table and everyone ate off the table. It was a fund raiser for a local church. Interesting. 

On the way home the bank clock said it was 4 degrees. So I put another log on the fire.  Don't plan on getting too far from the fireplace.

Got ready to go to Kansas City for Elena's birthday. She is 9 today. Had a great time. Elena also did a piano recital for us. It was her first recital. She did a good job

We left early to beat the weather. It was beginning to sleet when we left. But it was warmer here and was just starting to sleet when I got home.  Becky called to say that church had been canceled  they are expecting 8-9 inches we are expecting less than 5 inches
