Wednesday

Was balancing the checkbook when I received a call from David Herold he said we had wind damage to our house in Kansas. He said that we lost most of the shingle tabs on the south and west side of the house. He said I should call the insurance company. Also the chimney cap was blown off. The trampoline had blown over against the direct tv dish that was bent over to the ground. Also the camp equipment shed was destroyed. Michele Day and some of her children were at the house putting all the equipment in the big shed looks like just wind. A lot of places also got golf ball size hail

Today at radiation we found that there people here for radiation from 27 states and 7 countries. I think that being here is just God taking care of us. We very much appreciate David and Sarah letting us live in their house.

Barbara is doing good except for being tired and her legs have begun swelling. So today we purchased some special socks to restrict the swelling.

Happy leap year to all. May God bless you in your daily lives

Tuesday

Barbara rested most of the morning as I was at a house closing David and Sarah sold their house to Courtney and Calista. There was a little hick up last night but we worked it out and now Courtney and Calista are home owners. We are so proud of both of you.

Then on the way to radiation Barbara received a Facebook note asking if it would be alright for the council wide group to request that items be brought for brain cancer patients in Barbara's name. Council wide is a huge campout that girl scouts go to once a year. They camp together and play games and sing and have events. They are also going to be donating items for brain cancer. Barbara cried when she read the Facebook request. Thanks girl scouts for showing your love to Barbara

While I was at the closing Brian had his mother at the spine center having a procedure done on her neck to relieve the pain. We think it was a success. Pray for Leanna and Brian as they take care of Ralene

Barbara feet are starting to lose some of the swelling. She walked some last night and kept her feet elevated. Leanna is coming tonight to walk with her some more. We just try to keep her active so she will be healthy and be able to fight the cancer in her brain

God has a plan for both of us and we just need to be willing to serve Him

She is receiving her radiation as I write this. Pray that the radiation kills the cancer

Monday

Well the second sign of radiation has shown up Barbara now has swollen feet. The doctor today said that we needed to watch the swelling and if it got worse call him. If it did not disappear then he would give her medicine to get rid of the swelling next week

Today was day 28 of 42 for chemo and day 13 of 30 for radiation

The doctor said that she would get more tired as we progressed with the radiation.

Continue to pray for strength for Barbara and wisdom for the Doctors and health care individuals

Sunday

Made it back home today from Fort Worth. Barbara did very well with the travel. We now know that we have to make shorter days and we will still be able to travel.
Leanna has started to write a blog also. Her blog is very good at explaining Barbara's prognosis. To view her blog go to bugnbobnmore.blogspot.com

We are just glad that David and Sarah allow us to stay at their house so we can be close to daily radiation

Wedding in Fort Worth

Today we went to Nikki Anderson's wedding. She was in leanna and Barbara's girl scout troop 16 years ago. So we drove with Leanna and Brian to Weatherford Texas for the wedding. It was good to see Nikki and family. Barbara did well but got really tired so we are in a hotel in Fort Worth. We will make it home Sunday.

As we were leaving the wedding Brian received a telephone call that his uncle Richard was in the hospital with a heart condition. So he and Leanna went to the hospital in Fort Worth to visit Uncle Richard. They wouldn't have been able to visit him if they had not gone to the wedding.
We just praise God that Barbara has the strength to attend a wedding

Friday

Got up this morning and we talked to david and sarah about them buying our house. We typed up a contract and signed it. David took it to work and sent it to the banker and I took it to Stewart title for closing. We have a closing date of april 4 at 9 am. Then we went for radiation. While barbara was getting her radiation I went to the wellness center and they sent off for a handicap parking sticker for barbara.
We then hurried home and began preparing Chinese food for a dinner for David's birthday. For the first time in 40 years barbara didn't cook. She gave order but leanna and I did the cooking with david and ac assisting. Real good Chinese food.

Talked to my friend pastor ishmail in Uganda. He wanted to know how Barbara was and to tell me that he is beginning to teach a class of 130 pastors how to study the Bible. Please pray for him as he teaches. As he said Satan hates it when we teach others to study the Bible.
Barbara had a good day. Thanks for the prayers.

Radiation day 11

Barbara is still tired but wants to make sure that she continues with the radiation
Her fall does not seem to cause her any problems.

Her left foot is like a brick so she is now using a walker for control and so she does not fall again

After radiation we went to pharmacy to get medicine. Then we met up with leanna sarah david brian and Ralene to celebrate David's 40th birthday.

Yep we live a wild and exciting life.

Thanks for the prayers. We praise God for getting us to the procure cancer center for proton radiation.

Wednesday

Had a good day. Barbara took a shower and washed her hair. That made her feel better. Then we went to a lunch at the radiation place. Each Wednesday they have a lunch and then have a guest speaker for those taking radiation. We learn new information each week. Today they introduced two new patients. Both vey young and both from England. After treatment we got two geo-caches because Barbara did not feel like getting one yesterday

Then we went and bought a birthday gift for our son David who will be 40 tomorrow. The gift we wanted to get him has not arrived so we got something else

Barbara did well today but ran out of gas after 5 hours. The treatments just make her very tired
The picture tonight is of a quilt that Sarah (my favorite daughter- law) made. Is she amazing or what the quilt goes well with the ladybugs decor in our room. Thanks Sarah

The lesson at church tonight ended with (we are here on earth because of God's grace). Isn't it amazing that God takes care of our every need just when we need it not before.

Slow Tuesday

Today Barbara is hurting. We think that all the pain medicine they put in her on Sunday is now gone. Her left ankle hurts and also her left leg. Her head is beginning to itch so we know it is healing.
Went to radiation but Barbara didn't feel like getting a geo-cache today. We will have to double up later
Mostly just a day of rest. The doctor said rest was good.
I have put a picture of Barbara after the Sunday accident. The 17 staples and 7 stitches hold together 7 1/2 inches of cut. She said it looks worse than it feels.
Continue to pray for Barbara. Pray that she will not fall again. Pray for fast healing. Pray that the chemo and radiation kill the cancer

Thanks for all the cards and e-mails and Facebook comments. We read them and are encouraged

Busy presidents day

Drove to Dallas last night and stayed with Danny and Sherri Borgman. We needed to be at baylor medical center at 8. We had an appointment with doctor Nester the oncologist. She said Barbara was well. Our next appointment with her is one month after the radiation is done. We also did lab work while in the office. We then went to the neuro surgeon Doctor Doughty. He wanted to see the damage done by Barbara's fall. he said it was healing well and said he did not need to see us again.

We then drove to OKC for radiation. We met with Doctor Keole and he looked at the stitches and staples and said that we could do radiation. He did advise that we needed to be taking less steroids. He pus Barbara on a schedule to lower the steroid usage.

So we had a pretty good day. Then we found a geo-cache. Our friend Virginia had a
procedure to reduce the pain in her back. So far it has been successful.

Thank you God for allowing us to have a good day.

Fall on Sunday

This morning Barbara was getting
A clemantine
to eat. She fell. She said her left foot didn't move so she lost her balance. She had a big gash on her forehead going up to the area of the last surgery. David sarah leanna brian and I took her to the emergency room. So now she has 17 staples and 7 stitches in her forehead. I have talked to dr Fink dr Doughty dr Parikh and left a message for dr Keole We had an appointment with dr Fink tomorrow morning and one with dr Keole tomorrow afternoon. So we will be keeping those appointments and include dr doughty after seeing dr fink.

We are back home resting. The medicine they gave Barbara is really good. She woke up in the emergency room and said "I am hungry". Dr said that is a good sign. We got her home and she wanted to sleep

From what the doctors said we will continue with the chemo and radiation.

Thank you God for taking care of us you have us in the right place at the right time. You said in the Bible that you will provide for all of our needs. You have and you are an awesome God

Pray that Barbara will handle to drive to dr Finks office alright and that the stitches will not hinder the radiation

Saturday

Slow day. Barbara went shopping with Leanna and then David and I met them Brian and Ralene and had lunch. That was enough for Barbara. She took a nap and now is ready for bed. She just gets very tired.

Sunday is coming. So we will go to church and then go to Dallas. We have an appointment at 8 on Monday with the oncologist. Pray for safe travel and that the doctor will have wisdom while looking at Barbara's bloodwork.

Radiation day 7

Received call from chemo oncologist. She was concerned about Barbara's white blood count. She was concerned that Barbara had an infection. We determined that it was due to steroids. Barbara takes 16 mg daily. Will see oncologist on Monday
Took radiation today, only effect is that Barbara is very tired all the time. Doctors say that is understandable
Got a geo-cache today.
The weekend is upon us.

Thanks for the prayers

Woe with pharmacy

Last night received a call from
our neighbor in Altamont. Seth and Micah are the young men taking care of our cats while we are in OKC. They saw that a delivery had been left on the front porch. It was sent (next day) delivery. They took it to their mother and I asked her to open it. It was the medicine that we had ordered for barbara's diabetics The only problem was that we had specifically told them to send it to the house on OKC. They did one prescription to this house so we know they were aware we were living in OKC. It is so good to have good neighbors. Thanks to the Day family. Also my brother was coming down to visit Barbara so they went by the Day house to pick up the medicine and bring it to us. Thanks also to my brother and sister-in-law
So we had a nice visit with Roy and Judy. Then we went to radiation. One of the machines had broken so they were running behind. Most of the morning patients were still there receiving treatment. Anyway when we got done Barbara wanted to come straight home because she was HUNGRY. So no geo-cache today. Good think we found 2 yesterday so we are still on pace to get one a day.
The only side effect Barbara has so far is that she gets very tired easily

Thanks for your prayers

Day 5

What a day. At the proton center we were invited to a graduation lunch. One of the guys had just finished his treatments. He was the 628 person to complete proton radiation in Oklahoma city. About 100 in the room were given hope by having state of the art treatment. The information says there are 9 proton center in the us. Well three of them will open this year and one planned for 2013. Barbara feels that God led us to this center

We were able to get another geo-cache so not only will barbara be able to finish the treatment she will also finish one of her goals to get 1000 geo-cache's

Thanks for all your prayers

Valentine's day

Day 4 of radiation. Our days seem to be consumed with radiation and chemo treatments. The people at the radiation enjoy the music that barbara brings to play while she is receiving radiation. I spend the time reading. Then we go find one geo-cache. This makes barbara think and also gives her something to look forward to. She also has to get out of the car and help me look for the sites. (unless there is snow on the ground and then she stays in the vehicle)
We very much appreciate our son and daughter in law who have allowed us to stay in their house (fish and relatives stink in 3days). They haven't asked us to leave yet. Our daughter and son in law visit each evening. Then friends send their love and friendship. Thanks to all of you. You make this trip through cancer tolerable.

Took barbara to olive garden for valentine's day. Need to pick another restaurant next time(poor service)

While standing in line getting medicine refilled gave a gospel coin to a lady who wanted to give it to her son in the middle east. Please pray that people understand where they will spend eternity.

Doctors appointment

Today we met with dr keolo after radiation. We meet with him every Monday. We found out that the MRI showed that the cancer is only on the right side and is not connected to the spinal cord. Nor is the cancer in the left side of the brain. Which is good He thinks that the cancer can be treated effectively with the proton radiation
He said that the treatment will be six week in duration

We praise God that we have been placed in this program. Thank you for your prayers for barbara and I.

Sunday

Today I fixed breakfast for barbara. She did not have very much energy so she took a nap. I went to church. She rested all day. I guess that chemo and radiation are already making her tired. The oncologist called Friday and said that barbara would be getting tired and also because her white blood cell were so high her immune system would not work correctly. I guess that we just need to pray for strength for her. Also that the chemo and radiation will kill the tumors in her head.

For those of you that are not aware of geo-caching. Using the government
Satellites someone hides an item and list the coordinates. That enables anyone with a gps to find the site. There is a log to sign to show that you found the item and also you notify the person that you found his item via the Internet. Usually There are no prizes but only a log to sign. It is just like a
Scavenger hunt. This items are all over the world and barbara enjoys hunting for these items.

Cold Saturday

Barbara didn't feel good. Didn't want to eat. She finally ate and felt a little better. We went to leanna and Brian's house. Barbara rested and knit and I helped leanna do her taxes. They are done. Leanna and brian have his mother living with them. She was in emergency room yesterday. Medicine seemed to help her and she is doing much better.
Pastor Greg from Altamont Kansas asked if he and his wife could visit. They needed to come to OKC to pick up an exchange student that was being moved from her exchange home in chickasha. Was good to spend time with pastor Greg and his wife and meet their new exchange student (cherry) from china.

Received call from oncologist. Barbara's white blood is way high and her platelets are high also. Pray with us that she does not get sick. Her immune system is not working good with the white cell count so high

Remember as Tony Evans used to say "Sunday is coming". Don't forget to go to church and learn what God wants you to do with your life.

Day two

Had a much better day at radiation. Barbara was only on the radiation table 35 minutes. So for the next five and a half weeks we will travel to the radiation site and she will take the treatment. In addition she is taking chemo by pill each night. So far no adverse side affects. I spent most of the time with my insurance liaison She wanted to make sure that barbara is being taken care of and that I know that doctors are available if she begins to have adverse affects from either the radiation or the chemo.
After the treatment we got one more geo-cache. Yes it was cold but we found one geo-cache. Trying to reach 1000 by the time we complete radiation treatment.

Thanks for the prayers we could not function without them

Thursday, February 9, 2012

Radiation day

Today we started proton radiation. Took barbara for radiation and they said they were going to use proton radiation. We have an appointment for 2 pm each week day for 6 weeks. Thanks for all the prayers to get us this far. After the radiation I took barbara to find a geo-cache. She has 960 at the present so I figure that if we do one a day we will be close to 1000 by the end of 30 treatments That is one of Barbara's goals.

Spent some time with the banker to get the loan closed on david and Sarah's house.

Expect miracles

Today barbara wanted to go on a field trip with me. I needed to drive to Norman to take care of some business so she I went out for breakfast and then took care of the business. We then visited david and sarah at their work. Barbara said she needed to get out. We had a doctors appt about her general health. Still planning on radiation tomorrow at 2 pm. Pray that the doctors and technicians aim the radiation correctly so the the cancer cells will be killed or slow in their growth.
Barbara had a full day and was ready for bed when I got home from church
God thank you for the miracles in our lives. You are an awesome God. You will never leave us or forsake us. Thank you

Radiation scheduled

Today we received word that we would start radiation on Thursday. I never thought I would be glad that barbara was scheduled for radiation. I guess that our lives have changed. We had a good day. Received calls from Uganda Kenya Altamont Phoenix and OKC wanting to pray with barbara and I.
Pray without ceasing and expect a miracle

Monday, February 6, 2012

Today was for waiting. We were waiting on the radiologist to notify us when to start radiation. They called at 5 pm to say they still working on the plan of treatment So we are still waiting. Barbara had a good day. She is having no adverse affects from the chemo
As we were reading the Bible this morning the Israelites had to wait on God to deliver them. So maybe we are to wait on God for a better plan.

Super bowl

Sunday morning. Went to church. Barbara didn't feel good so she stayed home and slept. 1 Peter 5:7 says to cast all your cares on the Lord. Message was about loving others. Got home and leanna had given barbara the poem"footprints in the sand". Isn't that what 1 Peter 5:7 said, only in a different way.

When I got home two friends were in our room painting sayings in the wall. The first saying is "believe in miracles everyday". The second one says " may you live every day of your life with joy" and the third saying says " faith hope love". They also put ladybugs on the wall. Sarah put up yellow curtains. Thanks to everyone helping to relax

The giants just won the super bowl so it is time to go to bed. But one other verse was mentioned in church this morning. 1 Thes 5:17. Pray without ceasing

Please continue to pray for barbara and I as we wait for radiation to start. Also think about someone in you life and say a prayer for them

Slow Saturday

Waiting is not fun. We know the tumors are growing but we are waiting on the radiologist.
Today barbara and leanna went to lunch with church ladies. Once a month they meet for lunch.

David sarah and I went grocery shopping. Then they wrote a contract to sell their house. Contract signed by all parties. I will distribute copies to banker and title company company on Monday. This will take a lot of pressure off david and sarah.
Sarah fixed salmon for dinner and we all watched the movie "cars 2"

Slow day but needed to do something to keep barbara active. People have asked what they can do. At this time prayer is what we need from you

Friday, February 3, 2012

Rainy day

Guess what God is in control. Did you see and feel the rain? For areas that have been dry for so long it was good to see it rain.

Today we talked to the nurse for the radiologist she said that the doctor is working with the surgeon and the oncologist to try to get the right radiology. She said to call on Monday and hopefully she will have a plan.
We know that God has a plan and that there are others in much worse shape. Please pray for us to be relaxed as we wait so that we can honor God in what we do and say

Thursday, February 2, 2012

Baylor medical center

Barbara, Sonny, Judy and I drove to Baylor today to meet with
Nuerosurgeon doughty. after reviewing the jan 31 MRI he said that the tumor had returned to both areas in which they had previously been removed. He said it would be detrimental to her quality of life to combine both surgeries. He advised us that we needed to start radiation as soon as possible. He reminded us that this tumor is the fast growing type and we need to start radiation soon.
We headed back to OKC and made calls to dr fink who said we should continue taking the chemo and dr Keole who advised us that they would work on getting radiation started soon.

Pleas pray for speed in starting the radiation. Also pray that we will have patience while waiting.

Remember God is in control and has a plan for our life

Cancer returns

Ok we need prayer. Received a call from the radiologist this morning. He said he can not use radiation on barbara at this time because cancer has returned. We have an appointment with dr Doughty in the morning at baylor medical center in dallas We will probably will have another surgery in 3 or 4 days. This is the fast growing kind
Remember God is in control. He has us with the best surgeons and best oncologist and best radiation doctor. We just praise God for getting us to the right people at the right time.
Barbara woke up this morning having problems with her left side so pray we can get it removed before she looses all use of her left aide.
read psalm 23. God will get us through this
Thanks for the prayers
