Happy new years to all. May the new year bring you more blessings.

Barbara and I have had many opportunities but we look at the year as one that God provided for our needs

We look forward to the new year with anticipation knowing that will take care of us. -- if we just ask.

Thanks for all the prayers this year

Tomorrow we travel to baylor medical center We have and MRI and doctors appointment early Wednesday morning.

We hope to find out about these head shakes. Barbara continues to be pain free but is just tired from the head shakes.

12-30-12

Barbara got up at 2 this morning. Her head shakes were really bothering her. They don't hurt it is just that she couldn't sleep. So we took some medicine to calm the shakes down without knocking her out. We did not make it to church but we did read from the proverbs.
In proverbs the bible says that God will take care of those that love Him.

So barbara just rested today. This evening we ate supper then brian played the piano and Leanna sang hymns. Barbara didn't sing but I did see her toes tapping to the music. She rested in the living room until 9. That is late for her. Maybe she will sleep good tonight.

Many of you told me that you and your church are praying for Barbara. Thanks for the prayers. Barbara told
Me today that we just need to lean on Him and He will get us through each day. So we depend on your prayers to help us.

12-29-12

We got up at 3 and ate a snack. Then at 4:30 the neighbors dog began barking. It made Barbara and I think of uncle Lloyd. After breakfast barbara took a nap until it was time to go to david and Sarah's for thompson Christmas. We had a great time

Barbara did pretty good. She was tired but enjoyed family. Below are pictures of the thompson clan that was there.

Barbara still has the head shakes. We hope to find out more about them on Wednesday She is not in pain. She is thankful for that.

Barbara told me that God promised to take care of us each day. To provide for us not before and not after but right when we need His provision.

12-27-12

Barbara got up an ate at 3:00 then again at 9:00. She still has a good appetite. Her head had the shakes today so I gave her medicine to calm down the shaking. Of course that causes her to loose the use of her neck muscles. We did get to go out for lunch.

This evening david came over and sang songs with Barbara. Leanna has contacted a recording studio and we have put together some girl scout songs that barbara Leanna and david are going to record.

It should be fun. Pray that Barbara will have the needed strength and the voice to finish the recording.

Barbara said that God has blessed her more than she asked for. He is taking care of her each day. Her faith in God has not waived during this year of "opportunities" dealing with cancer She amazes me sometimes

12-26-12

Barbara got up and had a good breakfast. She rested most of the day. For lunch we had left overs from Christmas. She still has her head shakes. They don't hurt her they just make her tired

It was cold most of the day. We stayed inside. Not very venturesome Barbara wanted to go out in the afternoon After I explained about the cold she opted not to go out

12-25-12

Woke up this morning with ice on the ground. Barbara got up and leanna and brian fixed her breakfast. Then it started to snow. OKC did not get as much as predicted but enough to say that we had a white Christmas

Barbara rested until 2 and then we went to david and sarah's for Christmas. We had a gift exchange and then we had dinner. It was really good and fun to spend time with family

Barbara is very tired. Her head still has the shakes. I am sure that her shaking helps to keep her tired

But this is her favorite holiday. So she was up most of the afternoon. She can rest tomorrow

12-24-12

'twas the night before Christmas and I must get this done so I can get to sleep in hope of a big and long Christmas day

Ok it may be long because of the pending ice and snow coming

Barbara got up this morning and requested pork chops for breakfast. I talked her into roast beef and baked potatoes and gravy. I think that is a Midwestern breakfast. After breakfast we had blood drawn then we drove to Oklahoma city. After looking at the forecast of pending weather I wanted to get here before the winter weather arrived. So we are at Leanna and Brian's we will be here for Christmas and then some appointments next week

Barbara did good on the drive down here. she did get tired and wanted to go to bed as soon as we arrived.

She still has head tremors. The doctors are not too worried about this but state it is just the result of trauma to the brain ( cancer, two surgeries, chemo, radiation and avastin).

Tomorrow we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior.

12-23-12

Barbara did not go to church today. She rested while I went
She continues to have a great appetite. Her head tremors continue. She says that they do not hurt just make it hard to eat and drink
Barbara enjoys sitting in the living room watching the cats as they watch the birds eat at the bird feeders outside.

Barbara still had head tremors. She does still have an appetite. She has no pain She rested most of the day

This afternoon she had a headache but after eating she felt much better.

We have received so many Christmas cards telling Barbara that you are praying for her. She appreciates each of your prayers. Thanks

12-21-12

Oh no the world is coming to the end. Oops didn't happen

Barbara did not have a good day. She has had head shakes all day I have tried many things to keep her shakes at a minimum. I do have medicine that will stop the shakes but it will also cause her to be delusional. So I have tried to use that medicine sparingly.

Today was Judy's birthday so we had lunch here so I wouldn't have to get Barbara out. Barbara did eat a little but then went back to bed

Notice that the two new cats have taken over my chair. Barbara wanted to get a yellow. Well you will notice that we have two. Barbara is enjoying them.

The deer are back. I think they read the hunting schedule and know that there is no hunting until jan 1

It is amazing how God is in control and provides for us all the time. Thanks God

12-20-12

Barbara has had a good appetite today. She has also had tremors all day. Therefore she has been very tired. It is understandable that she would be tired if her body is shaking all the time
The home health care nurse advised that she take some medicine to limit the tremors. That has helped and leanna and I have heard her snoring. That is a good sign. Her body needs rest.

Barbara has wanted a calico cat for a couple of months. Well leanna had a friend that needs to get rid of their cats for medical reasons. So barbara now has two cars. They are getting used to the house. One of them has been on the bed with barbara. It would only stay there as long as Barbara was petting it.

It snowed this morning. Only a trace.

12-19-12

Barbara got up at 4:00 and had breakfast. She took a nap got up and had another breakfast. She rested until lunch and said she was hungry. Leanna was amazed at how quickly she ate lunch. Then the therapist came and had her work her arms and legs

She has had muscle shakes most of the day. The nurse said that often times after brain surgery the brain will tell a body part that it hurts or that it should shake. The nurse said it is just like the leg pain that Barbara had earlier. There was nothing wrong with her leg just the brain telling her it hurt. Well now it is telling the muscles to shake. So Barbara has a slight shake

Well tonight the Awana young people (about 60) from church came to carol at our house. The pastor had told me they were going to come here. I put a heater on the porch and wrapped Barbara up with blankets Barbara really enjoyed the songs Many of the children yelled "merry Christmas miss Barbara". It sure made Barbara's evening.

In fact Barbara was singing with the young people and smiling a lot. She never complained about the cold until they drove away

12-18-12

Barbara got up at 4:30 and ate breakfast. Then she slept until 8:30. She ate again. She was tired after the second breakfast so she slept until lunch

After lunch leanna arrived with two cats. She opened the two cages and the cats went under the bed. They have come out from under the bed but are still searching the house. It may take a couple of days before they accept this as home

Barbara is still tired. I don't know if it is the white blood count or the high liver count but it is making barbara very tired.

Just pray for increased energy.

12-17-12

Barbara had a good breakfast She took a nap then she went to give blood. We then had lunch with my brother and sister in law. We came home to take a nap. Then the therapist came and he made Barbara work her arms and legs

Then the oncologist called. Barbara's blood platelets went down to 141,000. Not bad since she had chemo and avastin last week. Also her white blood cells were down. Indicating a possible infection.

Then our primary doctor called and said that Barbara's liver counts were way up She is changing some of Barbara's medicine.

Barbara feels good but is just tired.

The hoot owl came and serinaded Barbara last night She just thanks God for allowing us to enjoy living in rural Kansas

12-16-12

Barbara did not make it to church. She rested while I was gone to church
She has better use of her left leg today. After lunch she wanted to sit in the chair. She was up until after supper then she went to bed

She is just tired.

12-15-12

Barbara felt good all day. She still has her appetite.

Her left leg still does not obey commands. So she is working getting it stronger she Is also using squeeze ball to strengthen her hands and arms. I am sure the therapist will have exercises for her on Monday.

She is looking forward to going to church so she can sing tomorrow

Sunday is coming

12-14-12

Barbara got up and had a protein breakfast. Then she took a nap. We went to Parsons to get stuff at Walmart and then went to my brothers to eat lunch and visit. Barbara rested a little while there. She is still very tired from the travels to Baylor and back

When we got home she took a nap. We had a good supper and now Barbara is sleeping

It was a good day. Her left leg is still not working great but better that last week.

It is raining so hopefully that will help the crops.

12-13-12

Barbara had the best night of sleep. She slept 8 hours without getting up. We got up and after breakfast headed to Kansas we got here about 3. Barbara went to bed but then she got up and wanted to sit in the living room. I started a fire in the fireplace it sure felt good.

We had a good trip and got some positive info from the doctors. Pray that the muscle spasms stop. Barbara said at supper tonight that she wanted to be able to outside and walk around the property. That is a good sign

12-12-12

Barbara got up and had breakfast and then we headed to Dallas for her avastin treatment. There were 4 or 5 others in the avastin room. It amazes us that cancer affects people differently. Some people loose use of a side some loose mental capacity. Barbara has been blessed that she has only had 3 seizures and that she has temporary loss of her left side.

After the avastin treatment we headed back to OKC

Tomorrow we will drive back to Kansas

Barbara did not have any pain today. Her left leg does not obey the command to move so we have to manually move the left foot. It makes going to the bathroom a tricky effort.
But we make it.

Thank you God for a wife that is so appreciative of my feeble efforts to help her

12-11-12

Barbara got early and we ate breakfast then later leanna got up and fixed us another breakfast. Barbara then rested the rest of the morning. She went to the doctor. The doctor said that the tremors were muscle spasms. She said to apply heat to Barbara's arm and hand.
All of her blood work looked great except those pertaining to the liver. Most of the cancer drugs are hard on the liver. About 2 years ago Barbara's liver count went way up. So the doctor is changing the cholesterol medicine. Her blood platelet is 196,000. That is highest it has been since we started this chemo.

Tonight was the last night of chemo for this cycle

In the morning we go to Baylor for the avastin drip

Pray that it will allow the left leg to respond to Barbara's brain commands.

12-10-12

Got up and had a good breakfast at 5. It was 22 degrees. Barbara took a nap then she ate again. Then we went to give blood. After that's we had lunch with Sonny and Judy. Then we headed to OKC where we have a doctors spot in Tuesday. We need to talk to the doctor about the tremors Barbara is having

Leanna had a great meal to celebrate that one year ago a doctor said that a normal person would only live 22 weeks if they had surgery chemo and radiation. Barbara is not normal and here she is one year later

Survivor one year one day

We got up early and had a great breakfast then napped until breakfast time. After the second breakfast barbara had a slight headache and some small tremors. So she rested and did not go to church

After church we sat up and watched the chiefs attempt to play football. Then we rested.

Survivor one year

I had the days wrong on all my previous posts. Today is one year from the time Barbara found that she had a mass in her brain. So today she is a one year survivor

Barbara has had some good days and some bad days. She has progress and then had some set backs but the thing that keeps her going is that the Bible says that God will take care of her each day. So even though she recently had 2 seizures in 4 days and she lost use of her left side again, she is gaining strength and is mentally preparing herself to walk again. Even when she is confused she realizes that God is going to be with her at all times

Today she rested most of the day. Then at 3 she said that she wanted to go for a drive. She needs windshield time so we drove toward Joplin. Didn't make it there but had a nice drive.

Today she received a call from England. Girl guide friends called to find out how she is doing. The husband has medical problems but he wanted to make sure Barbara was ok

Barbara is so amazed that people would call her and wish her well. Thanks to all that called, wrote notes, prepared food and visited this last year

Survivor week 51 day 7

Barbara got up today and was still confused. She thought I had moved her to Arkansas. (we had been talking about going on a road trip to Eureka Springs last night)

She still likes to eat the therapist came and had her work out. He had her get up and stand at the sink (maybe she will help me with the dishes. Nope)

We then took a trip to help my brother and sister in law since he still has 5 pound lift limit from his surgery

It was good to help them. Barbara rested. We came home and had supper

Tonight Barbara starts chemo for 5 nights

The first thing that Barbara said this morning was that this is Pearl Harbor Day she still think good but is sometimes confused (probably comes from living with me for 43 years)

Pray that the chemo will continue to do the job.

Survivor week 51 day 6

Barbara got up today at 3:30 and wanted a steak burrito. Then at 8 she ate again. The bath lady came and barbara was confused. She thought I had moved her to an apartment.

After the shower she seemed to regain her memory She felt better. After a nap she wanted to go for a drive. Sow we drove to Oswego to pay our property taxes

We had lunch Znd then came home. She is still tired but feels she is getting better.

Continue to pray that the side affects of the drugs will stop.

Survivor week 51 day 5

Oops. I did this last night and I got distracted (old age) and forgot to publish this. Thanks to Alice who called and wanted to know what was going on.

Barbara got up and we had our first breakfast at 2 second breakfast at 5:30. Third breakfast at 8:30. Yes she still has a good appetite. Donna from church brought a casserole for lunch. It was good for barbara just to talk to someone other than me

Then the therapist came and he said that she was much stronger than on Monday. We rested the rest of the day

Barbara has so much chemicals in her that she is very confused. She thought that I moved all the furniture to an apartment in Oklahoma city. she now knows that we are in Altamont Kansas

Pray that the chemicals from the hospital will leave her body

Survivor week 51 day 4

Barbara got up late and ate then the bath lady came to help give her a bath. She said she was too tired to take a shower but leanna and I convinced her that a shower would make her feel better. After the shower she said she was glad that she took a shower. She is still feeling tired from the stay in the hospital.

Leanna left this afternoon. Something about going home to see her husband and some of his family that drove in from Tennessee when I woke barbara up for supper she said that she wanted to walk to the door unassisted. She tried but realized she needed help. So I helped her and she walked to the doorway then rode the rest of the way to supper. After supper she watched a little television and then she went to bed

She said she wanted everyone to know that she is trying to get stronger. She still loves to pray. Tonight when I was reading the bible to her she said it was easier to understand if she knows the context of the scripture I guess that means that I need to make sure she understands the background of what I am reading to her.

Pray that I will be more aware of what I am reading to her. So that she will understand.

Survivor week 51 day 3

Barbara got up hungry again. Since she taking steroids I am sure she will continue to eat lots. She slept a lot today

The therapist came and Barbara wanted to get up and excercise She was not able to stand but did leg and arm stretches. He said she was still full of drugs from the stay in the hospital. Each day she will get stronger as she gets rid of those drugs

She rested but did not sleep this afternoon. Hope that means she sleeps good tonight.

She really has had zero pain today. She is just tired and has a lack of energy

Survivor week 51 day 2

Barbara rested most of the day. She was hungry and wanted food. She glad that the let her come home from the emergency room and not be admitted to the hospital.
No shaking today. Barbara did get up for a few minutes as sonny and judy came to check on us and david and Suzzann came to visit before they leave on their trip.

It is always fun to get together with family who are also good friends.

Again barbara wanted me to thank you all for the prayers. She said she would not be able to make it without them.

Update on week.51 day 1

Barbara had her second seizure in 4 days We were released from the emergency room at midnight 30. Barbara was like a rag doll but we got her home and put her to bed (all they were going to do in the hospital was to monitor her to see if she had a reaction to the adivan So she slept from the time we got home until now.). Nobody checking blood or blood sugar or waking you up to see if you are ok.
The doctor thinks that by taking her off steroids she started having siezure s. so the doctor has put her back on steroids.

Barbara has talked to both leanna and I this morning.

Survivor week 51 day 1

Barbara is still weak from the medicine given to stop the seizure she lost control of her bladder but control is coming back. Today was the funeral of uncle Kenny.

Rich and alice came by before the funeral to see his sister. Then we went to the funeral. After the funeral Barbara's other brother john an his wife Rosey came by to visit. Then ain't Lucretia and cousin Diane came by. Barbara enjoyed visiting but is very tired.

She is still having tremors in her arms that bothers her because she is fearful that it will develop into a siezure

Ok the shakes have continued for 30 minutes. We are now at emergency room in parsons Dr is aware of our last visit. Shakes only on left arm. Not whole left side like last Wednesday

Will be here for a few hours so will let you know how everything is tomorrow or I may do an update when we leave here. But I am sure it will be early morning.

Please pray for relief for Barbara. Pray for clarity of thought for the attending doctors and nurses

Survivor week 50 day 7

Barbara spent the night in the hospital. They gave her so many drugs to stop the seizure that she is very weak

At 9 they told us that Barbara was going to be going home today. Well it was 3 before we left the hospital. Just waiting on the checkout procedure was tiring for Barbara.

We are thankful that we live in a country that has hospitals that treat people.

Barbara is very tired but she has been in bed since we got home. Leanna and I even fed her in bed. I know that us probably is probably a bad habit to get into.

While we were waiting to be checked out of the hospital an unknown woman came into the room and said that her husband had glioblastomia brain tumor. (she works in the pharmacy and saw the types of drugs Barbara was being issued) She said that she would pray for Barbara and I. She said that she was involved in a support group of people who have lost family members to glioblastomia. She said she would advise the group about Barbara and they would be praying for us. God works in mysterious ways. Thank you God for promising to take care of us each and every day

Survivor week 50 day 6

Spent the night in the hospital. They gave Barbara a lot of drugs to stop the tremors. She spent most of the day trying to cone out of the drug fog. They did a MRI. No broken blood vessels in brain to cause tremors. No new tumor to cause tremors. They consulted with Barbara's oncologist they think it was a partial seizure very common with people with glioblastomia tumor. Even though the tumor was removed over a year ago.

So we are still in hospital making sure that the tremor does not return and waiting for the drugs to get out of Barbara 's system

Just thankful that the doctors are working together Barbara should be released Friday morning if she does not have complications

Survivor week 50 day 5

Slept late but barbara had a good breakfast then she took her normal nap until the therapist came. Barbara did her regular exercises then said I want to walk to the kitchen. She surprised me but with my help she walked to the kitchen.

Ok she wanted to eat when we got to the kitchen. She took a map and then we ate supper. Then at 5:55 her left leg began to twitch

I called our doctor and we decided that I should take Barbara to the emergency room In the emergency room they were able to get the twitching stopped. They wanted to keep Barbara overnight to make sure the medicine didn't have any bad side effects.

This was not a seizure according to both ER doctors. They felt it was due to the surgery and healing (which is common)

Thanks for the prayers. So we will spend the night in the hospital

Survivor week 50 day 4

Barbara got up at 5 and was hungry then also at 7:30. Then she took a nap. The lady came to help with a shower. Barbara felt better after the shower.

Then we went to spend the afternoon with my brother and sister in law. Barbara rested most of the afternoon

We found out today that Barbara's uncle Kenny passed away. The funeral will be this Saturday. Barbara is very sad but knows that Uncle Kenny is in a much happier place. Please pray for the family as they deal with the loss of the oldest male Herold.

Barbara did very well today. Her upset stomach is getting better. She is just very tired

Survivor week 50 day 3

Barbara got up and wanted a steak burrito for breakfast I don't know where she comes up with these ideas. Then she took a nap until time to go have her blood checked. She gave blood then we ate lunch.

She wanted to come home and take a nap but the therapist came and had her workout her legs and arms

After he left she took another nap

Good news the oncologist called and Barbara's blood platelets are at 186,000. This is the first time that she has been above 150,000 in over 6 months. Very thankful for this news

The oncologist was concerned that. Barbara had very low potassium This was caused by four days of diarrhea The doctor wanted to get Barbara's primary care doctor involved. So I talked to dr Parikh's office and she prescribed potassium So we have another drug that Barbara will be taking

Thank God for Barbara's doctors they keep trying to help Barbara

Survivor week 50 day 2

Barbara got up and watched the deer I the back yard. Then she ate 2 eggs and two pieces of toast. She was very tired and went back to sleep. She did not go to church.

We had lunch and then she rested most of the afternoon. At 4 she said she was hungry again. So we had supper.

She said she is just tired. Other than being tired she said she felt pretty good. Thanks for all the prayers that have gotten her through this life changing event

Survivor week 50 day 1

Barbara got up and ate breakfast. Then she was watching the deer play in the yard. Then the deer left and all I saw was one lone turkey in the bean field. Then a deer came out of the trees and ran at the turkey. I guess the deer didn't want the turkey in the bean field

Barbara was tired so she just tested. Then this afternoon we went to see uncle Kenny and aunt Ethel their children had a thanksgiving lunch. We spent some time there then barbara got tired so we came home and she took another nap

The trip to Dallas just took a lot of energy out of her.

Barbara got up and had a good breakfast. Then she took a nap. She was tired from all the activities on Thanksgiving. Then we had lunch with leanna brian david and sarah we always enjoy that

Then we drove home to Altamont

When we got home Barbara went to bed. Barbara got up to eat supper and to talk to "ma and pa" her fish. She was sleepy so she didn't eat much
We both had upset stomach's while in OKC. Hopefully we will watch what we eat and won't have upset stomach's

Survivor week 49 day 6

Happy thanksgiving Wow barbara rested all morning because we were eating this afternoon and more family
Sarah did a great job of cooking for all of us. Then ac virginia mike melissa and Hayden came over for desert.
Barbara is wire out but she enjoyed today.

Survivor week 49 day 5

Barbara got up and had breakfast Then she napped. For lunch Leanna brian david sarah barbara and I ate at Barbara's favorite restaurant Cracker barrell

We had a nap. Then david bob ac and mike went to a thunder basketball game. Barbara stayed home with sarah and Leanna. They watched movies

Barbara still has heart burn She has a string voice and is able to be alert for longer periods of time.

Please continue to pray that she continues to gain energy and strength

Tomorrow is thanksgiving. We pray that you all will be able to spend time with family Nd that you will be thankful for the world God has provided us

Survivor week 49 day 4

Got barbara up and had breakfast on the road to Dallas. She didn't sleep at all. She had heart burn. Couldn't seem to get rid of it. She received her avastin drip. Her blood platelets were 131,000. The doctor was very pleased. In fact they want Barbara to have a sixth avastin drip. Then the later part of December barbara will have another MRI and see the doctor.

Since the blood platelets are staying up barbara is also on schedule for the monthly chemo.

The doctors were pleased and moved the appointments to later on the month

Survivor week 49 day 3

Barbara ate a lot of protein this morning. In fact the ouster stew angel brought some to Barbara. She finished eating it at 4 this morning. Thanks Terri and russell. So this morning barbara had her blood checked. No results but barbara had lots of protein to keep the platelet count high.

We had lunch with sonny and judy then drove to OKC. We had dinner with Leanna and will be staying with david and sarah

In the morning we head to Baylor medical for the avastin treatment

Survivor week 49 day 2

Barbara got up at 5 and ate. Then again at 9:30. She had an upset stomach so she did not go to church

She rested most of the day. She said she was just tired. She did not complain of any pain but did have an upset stomach all day. One of the side affects of avastin is upset stomach

Barbara gives blood in the morning then we will drive to OKC. She has her last avastin drip on Tuesday

I cut some dead trees this week and one of them had the (hoot owl) nest in it. Barbara was afraid that it would run the owl away. Well about 10:00 she woke me up to see if I heard the hoot owl. Needless to say no I didn't I was trying to sleep. So I opened the window and sure enough at about 2:00 I heard the hoot owl. I think he will build another in the remaining trees

Last night I bought Barbara two fish so you can see them on the table. We have named them "ma and pa "

Pray for safe travels and that the avastin will continue to reduce the swelling in Barbara's brain

Survivor week 49 day 1

Fist breakfast was at midnight then at 5 Barbara got hungry again then we had regular breakfast at 7:30. Then Barbara took a nap. Wow that gave me a chance to work on yard. Then Ronda visited. She will be traveling so it will be next year before she returns to southeast Kansas.

Then we saw 26 turkeys in bean field. They went into the woods and then the deer came out to visit. Barbara really enjoys watching the wildlife.

Then barbara decided that she needed some fish. I think she just needed windshield time but anyway we went to parsons and bought two fish and a fish bowl. So now barbara has fish. While there Leanna and Brian called and asked if we could buy any hostess items. The only thing they had we now have.

Brian and Leanna have hostess items up on eBay. People are paying big bucks for Twinkies. We will see how Brian and Leanna do.

Barbara did very well today. She is just tired.

Survivor week 48 day 7

Barbara just rested today. She ate but was tired
Ronda Barbara's niece came by to visit but Barbara was too tired to visit.

She had liver for supper to try to build blood platelets. She is showing signs of low blood platelets. Not surprised because she finished chemo last week.

Please pray that she gets her energy back and that the blood platelets don't go too low

Survivor week 48 day 6

Barbara had breakfast then rested. Then we had three health care people visit. So barbara was very tired she took a nap. Leanna left to go home and spend time with her husband. Barbara said that she wanted to eat out tonight. So I called my brother and they met us at the restaurant we got a pleasant surprise as we were eating. We saw Brad and Katie Herold. Brad had been to a wounded warrior function in Alabama. He was able to come and spend a little time with his parents and Katie's parents. It was good to see them. Also saw Brad's mother and father and grandma alloway.

Barbara enjoyed the visit but was very tired when we got home.

All the health care people said Barbara was doing good but she just doesn't have any energy

Survivor week 48 day 5

Barbara got up and had s good breakfast. Then she sat in the chair. She tried to sleep but never slept good. Then pastor Greg came to visit and while he was her the therapist came. Barbara did quite a big with the therapist today. Then we ate and she took a nap.

Tonight right on time the deer came into the yard to eat. Again there were vehicles on the road stopped watching the deer. I counted 10 but there may have been more.

Barbara really enjoys watching them each evening. Yes the come in the morning also but she usually is not up to see them.

My question to you is--did God put
Clocks in the deer so they would know when to come to eat?
It is pretty awesome how God designed all of nature to work in conjunction with all other parts Thanks God

Survivor week 48 day 4

Barbara woke up hungry. She ate the sat in the chair. She said she was going to sleep but never did

She took a shower the we had lunch. Then the therapist came. Then she took a nap.

The oncologist called and said that her blood platelets were at 100,000 this week.

Then we watched our deer frolic in the back yard. Over 10 of them they were playing in the yard and there were even cars on the road stopped watching them play

Barbara felt good most of the day. She was just tired.

Survivor week 48 day 3

Had breakfast at 4 this morning then again at 7:30. Barbara still has a good appetite. This morning Barbara had her blood drawn so the oncologist will be able to follow her blood work

Barbara rested the rest of the day. She did enjoy watching the deer in our back yard. They think they have a playground in our back yard

Didn't get a call from the oncologist about her blood. Will call them tomorrow

Survivor week 48 day 2

Barbara got up and had a big breakfast. She was tired and said that she would take a nap then get up and go to church. When I woke her up to get ready for church she said that she didn't feel well enough to go to church

So leanna brian and I went to church. I spoke on persecution of the church. We hurried home and ate lunch. Barbara felt a little better but not great.

When we got up and were getting ready for supper we had to take a break from preparing a meal. We had 11 deer in our back yard there were 3 bucks one with an 8 point rack. They were just frolicking in the yard. Thanks Roger and Jerry for putting feeder corn out for the deer so they would be playing by the house

Survivor week 48 day 1

Barbara was very tired today. She ate and was hungry. In fact this afternoon she told me she could eat a trash can hum maybe that is the reason she doesn't complain my cooking. At least I put salt and pepper on the trash can

Barbara did go to the garage with me to work for a sort time. I think she enjoys the fresh air.

Tonight was the last night of chemo for this cycle.

We had 5 deer in the back yard this evening. It is fun to watch them. Then when they run away their white tail is flying in the air. Maybe that is why they are called white tail deer. Duh.

Survivor week 47 day 7

Very slow day for Barbara. Eat and rest all day. She was outside getting sunshine when the therapist came to help her walk.

She then rested until supper time. She wanted to get outside again so we drove to get something to eat. Windshield time.

This evening she just rested and took her chemo.

Barbara was impressed with the sunset this evening. She said God allows the most beautiful sunsets to be in the Midwest

Survivor week 47 day 6

Barbara still has a good appetite. After breakfast she took a nap. Then a health care lady came to help with a shower. Then a beautician came to the house and cut Barbara's hair. After lunch Barbara took another nap. She is just very tired. She said that she has very little pain

She told me that even though the chemo just makes her tired it is worth it because it keeps the cancer away

Tonight is day 3 of chemo for this cycle

Survivor week 47 day 5

Barbara got up hungry this morning. Doesn't she always wake up that way. We ate then she took a nap.

The therapist came and she walked for him. He was impressed. It is not pretty but she died move one foot in front if the other

The liver angel came and brought Barbara some live and also chicken casserole the casserole was real good. Thanks Suzzann we will eat the liver on Sunday before we give blood on Monday

Tonight Barbara took the second of five chemo doses. So far they do not her sick to her stomach.

Survivor week 47 day 4

Barbara got up at midnight and ate breakfast then again at 7:30. Then she took a nap. We received the chemo this morning. Then after lunch we got a call from the oncologist that we need to start chemo tonight. So we have started the chemo treatment tonight. She will take chemo 5 nights

The doctor also said that Barbara's platelets are at 114,000. They keep going up each week.

Survivor week 47 day 3

Got up this morning and Barbara was hungry. Go figure. She said she wanted to walk to breakfast so with my help she walked from the bedroom to the kitchen two days in a row So I fixed her steak and eggs. She said they were good. She was tired so she took a nap. Then she got up and she went to have her blood checked. No call from the oncologist about blood results. I did talk to the company that sends the chemo to us. We should have it tomorrow by noon. So unless the oncologist tells us otherwise Barbara will take chemo for heh next 5 days

Then we bought sone food and took to sonny and judy's. Barbara didn't feel good enough to get out so we just drove the car into the new shed put the top down and had a picnic right there in the shed. Sonny is getting stronger each day from the surgery.

Barbara said that God puts on a show each morning. She enjoys getting up and watching the sun come up. The sky had streaks of red right before the sun came up today. Thanks God for displaying your majesty. We know you are in control. Barbara said tonight at supper that she didn't know why she had cancer but that God had a plan to use her having cancer for His glorification

Survivor week 47 day 2

Barbara got up this morning and wanted pancakes. But the exciting thing is that she said she wanted to walk to breakfast. Yes I had to walk with her but she made it Then she had an upset stomach and was not able to go to church (probably my cooking)

This afternoon my brother came for a visit. He is still recuperating from his surgery.

Barbara seemed to feel better after lunch and a short nap

She gives blood tomorrow

We still have not received the chemo so please pray that it arrives this week

Survivor week 47 day 1

Barbara got up this morning and was hungry. After breakfast we went to independence for a genealogy class. The class was good. After the class we got something to eat and ate it at the zoo. In fact we ate watching the bears.
Then we came home and took a nap.

Barbara has had a good day. Her toe has almost healed.

Survivor week 46 day 7

Barbara got up and wanted pancakes. She then took a nap. After she woke up we went to Oswego so we could vote and also pay out taxes for our vehicles. So we were able to vote and get our 2013 tags. Then we had lunch and went to visit my brother. He is now home from his surgery recuperating

Prayers have been answered for him.

Barbara has a little pain in her right toe. She is tired but looking forward to walking without a wheelchair

Pray that she will keep looking to God for her energy

Survivor week 46 day 6

Barbara got up but was very tired from a long day yesterday. She asked she could take a nap. So she slept and then we had lunch with friends. Then we drove home.

We got home at 6 tonight. Barbara's ankles were swollen from all the traveling. She is feeling good but tired. She said she was glad to be home

Survivor week 46 day 5

Got up and took Barbara to get a MRI then we met with the oncologist
He was excited with the MRI results. The MRI showed that Barbara's "diseased area" had shrunk 50 per cent. Also there was no growth. They are going to begin to take Barbara off steroids. A little at a time. Also we are scheduled to begin chemo this weekend
We are also scheduled for a fifth avastin drip. The oncologist thinks that will help with reducing the need for steroids.

Barbara then got her avastin drip and we headed back to OKC

Barbara said tonight it is not too late to pray and thank God for a good day. She knows that God is in control.

Survivor week 46 day 4

Barbara got up this morning and was hungry. Big surprise. After breakfast she took a nap until lunch. After lunch we headed to Dallas. We have an 8:15 appointment tomorrow morning

We received a call from the oncologist late this afternoon with the blood platelet count. 112,000

That was better than last week but not as high as I thought it would be

Barbara is anxious about tomorrows MRI.

Please pray that the cancer is still gone. Pray that Barbara will continue to get stronger each day

Survivor week 46 day 3

Barbara got up and we went to give blood. We still have not heard the results. Then she rested the rest of the day. She has an infection on her right big toe. I have been treating it. Our hope is that she will have blood platelets over 100,000. Hopefully the infection will not prohibit her from receiving chemo next week

Tomorrow is a day of rest and travel to Dallas for the avastin drip on Wednesday

Survivor week 46 day 2

Barbara got up and ate breakfast. She took a nap
This afternoon we went to the 100 year birthday party for girl scouts

If you remember we went to Washington in June for the national 100 year birthday of scouting. Well today the local western Oklahoma girl scouts celebrated the 100 birthday party. Barbara had a good time. She got to see some old friends

Then we stood in line for hot dogs and when we arrived at the window to order there was a "danger" sign. It made us all smile

Barbara wire out so we came home to rest. She is glad that she went to the birthday party

Survivor week 46 day 1

Got up and We had breakfast with leanna brian and LeAva

Barbara felt good so we went to the Oklahoma History Center. Very interested. We only saw about half of it. We need to come back to see more

Then we came back to the house to rest. Tonight is the OU Notre Dame game. Barbara watched a little of the game.

Survivor week 45 day 7

Got up this morning and got ready to drive to OKC

Barbara was confused and kept asking if she was going to get the avastin drip today. She did not sleep on the trip to OKC. When we got here she immediately took a nap. Then we went to supper with leanna brian david and sarah. Just a very good time spent with the family.

We are going to just rest for a couple of days. Then on Tuesday we head to Dallas where we will get the avastin drip on Wednesday

Survivor week 45 day 6

Barbara had a busy day. First the health aide came as we were eating breakfast. Then right before lunch the therapist came and had Barbara walk with a walker. Then the nurse came. Whew

Barbara had some pain in her right ankle. She had more energy but is still tired

This evening she asked if we could go for a drive and get something for supper. So we drive to parsons. Did not put the top down as it was 47 degrees

While in parsons we stopped at the hospital to visit her uncle Kenny who had gall bladder surgery today. He is over 90

On the way home Barbara made me stop the car and look at the sky. She said isn't it amazing how God makes the sky so beautiful and different each night. God is awesome

Survivor week 45 day 5

Barbara is still unable to eat enough food. We had breakfast at 12:30 5:00 and then at 8:30. Then she napped until noon. After lunch we went to visit my brother. Barbara just wanted to get out of the house and ride in the car. It was good to visit with Sonny and Judy
I went to church and when I got home we had another meal. So she has had a good day

She feels pretty good and is just building blood platelets

Survivor week 45 day 4

Barbara had a pretty good day. She had an upset stomach most of the day. But her attitude is good.
She continues to eat good protein food. She continues to talk about walking and having a normal.

Survivor week 45 day 3

Barbara woke up at 2 this morning and was hungry. We had liver onions mashed potatoes and gravy. The she slept until 8:30 and we had waffles. Then we went to give blood. Yes late this afternoon we heard from the oncologist that her kate let's were at 108,000. That was Barbara,s goal
Barbara continued to be hungry all day. The steroids she takes cause her to be hungry

No chemo until we meet with the oncologist on the 31st. This will allow her to continue to grow platelets and then the chemo mat not drop her platelets so low

This evening Barbara wanted to celebrate her platelet count so we called David and Suzzane to celebrate with us. We drove to Oswego. Barbara just enjoys driving in her red car.

Survivor week 45 day 2

Barbara got up and ate a huge breakfast. Then she took a nap until time for church. We went to church. After church we ate then nap time. Then barbara got up and just wanted to go for a drive in her red car. So we drove to Joplin. It was a nice day to take a drive. While driving she was singing songs. In our family we call this (windshield time) yep she is her fathers daughter Sure is nice that she is feeling better.

Tomorrow we go give blood to determine if we can start chemo again.

Survivor week 45 day 1

Barbara slept late She had a slight headache part of the day. She has more energy but still gets tired very easy. Leanna left this afternoon. She headed home to OKC. It was good to have her here this week
Barbara helped me memorize some bible verses for church

The middle verse of the bible is Psalms 118:8. Trust in the Lord but do not put your confidence in man
It was fun to watch Barbara memorize the verse even though she has two holes in her head. She amazes me

Survivor week 44 day 7

Barbara got up without pain this morning. She rested this morning and then the therapist came and had Barbara walk with assistance

This afternoon we took Barbara to find a geocaches. It was about 3 miles from the house. Barbara said she got cold as we wheeled her wheelchair through a cemetery. But she had fun

Then we went out to eat

Overall a good day.

Survivor week 44 day 6

Barbara had a headache this morning. She took some medicine and slept most of the morning. At noon I called the oncologist about the headache. After talking toe about Barbara's blood pressure and blood sugar. The felt that the headache was caused by the change in weather.

I am to monitor her headaches and let the doctor know if they continue.

Headache went away this afternoon. Went to parsons to get medicine. Then we went and had supper with Sonny and Judy. Saturday is his birthday so we wanted to spend some time with them.

Barbara said it was good to get out of the house.

Survivor week 44 day 5

Today Barbara just rested. The therapist came and had Barbara do exercises. She was hurting but did the exercises. The liver angel came and we had liver for lunch Then she napped. Then the nurse came and she was feeling better

Then she wanted steak for supper. So I grilled a steak then I went to Awana's. Leanna arrived just as I was leaving. It is good to have her here.

Barbara's pain was a 6 or 7 today.
Tonight she talked about walking and not losing her balance. Lots of things to work on. Pray that she will be patient and not
Get discouraged because she can't immediately do something

Survivor week 44 day 4

Barbara got up hungry. She was also having a lot of pain. Today she asked for pain medicine in the afternoon. First time

Then tonight she again asked for medicine. She said her pain level was a 7 or 8. She was very tired. She just can't seem to get strength.

She ate a lot of protein to help build blood platelets

Survivor week 44 day 3

Barbara got up this morning and ate everything I fed her. Then she napped until time to go to give blood

She gave blood and then Ed had lunch with Sonny and Judy. Then we came home and Barbara slept
The oncologist called and said her blood platelets were 88,000. Not good enough for chemo but definitely going in the right direction. Next week she should be over 100,000 and start chemo. But this week she will rest and build platelets

Thanks for all your prayers. Barbara keeps telling me that she needs to get her energy back so she can tell people about her friend Jesus.

Survivor week 44 day 2

Got Barbara up late and she ate z huge breakfast. Then we went to church. It was the first time for her in s long time. Yes it made Barbara tired but she wanted to go. Then we had lunch and drove to Altamont. Barbara said she just wanted to go to bed so that is where she is

We had a good week. Spent a lot of time in doctors office. So now we have 2 weeks to just relax and grow those blood platelets

Survivor week 44 day 1

Barbara slept late today. After lunch we went to Carla and Jason's wedding barbara had fun but got real tired
As we were driving home from the wedding we drove through a storm. It just showed us how powerful God is and how amazing this world is

Barbara wanted to take a nap before supper.

Survivor week 43 day 7

Today was a day of rest. Barbara had nothing planned

She ate breakfast then rested then ate lunch then napped and then ate supper. Lots of proteins trying to get the platelets up over 100,000 so we can continue her chemo

She had very little pain today just very tired.

Tomorrow she is going to a wedding of a friend. Please pray that she doesn't get too tired.

Survivor week 43 day 6

Got up this morning and took Barbara to her regular doctor. It was a good thing because she gave Barbara a prescription for the stomachs cramps Barbara has been having. It is caused by the chemo and now Barbara has a medicine for her upset stomach.

Then we went back to Leanna's house to rest. Leanna wanted to make Meatballs for supper. So we invited ac virginia melissa Hayden Kim Wes and Ralene. The food was great and we had a great time with family and friends. It lifts Barbara up to have friends and family around her

This afternoon she said that she could feel the avastin going through her body. She said she felt better. In fact she lifted weights and did arm exercises

She is looking forward to walking without a wheel chair or walker.

Survivor week 43 day 5

Got up this morning and drove to Dallas. Barbara received her avastin treatment today. We did not see the doctor

Then we drove back to Leanna's. It was just a long trip and Barbara is tired

She is hoping that this third treatment will give her more energy. She said that she wants to walk into the doctors office tomorrow. She has the right thought but her body is too weak

But the Bible says that God will be with us all the time and that He will take care of our needs

So our prayer is that we will rely on God to get us through this situation

Survivor week 43 day 4

Got up this morning and packed the car and we were on the road by 9. We headed to OKC for a doctors appointment. We met with dr Kahn about Barbara's leg pain. He said that the pain was caused by the chemo. He concurs with the oncologist that the leg pain is caused by the chemo. He said it was a good thing that she was not needing the pain medicine

He said that we did not need to come back to him unless more pain developed

One doctor done. Barbara is wore out by the trip to OKC plus 2 hours in the doctors office

We made it to Leanna's house and Barbara wanted to take a nap. She took a nap and then we ate supper and she went to bed. She just doesn't have energy.

In the morning we will drive to Dallas for her avastin treatment

Pray for safe travels and that the avastin will continue to cause Barbara to gain strength

Survivor week 43 day 3

Got up this morning and the health care lady arrived at 7:45. After she left Barbara took a nap. The we went to give blood to check her platelets

When we got home Barbara took a nap. The oncologist called and said that Barbara's blood platelets were at 65,000. That is up from last week which is good. We are still scheduled to get the avastin drip on Wednesday.

So in the morning we will head to OKC where we have 4 doctors appointments in 4 days.

Barbara is doing pretty good she is just tired. As the platelets go up so does her energy level. She told me she wanted to go out and mow the grass. I think we will wait before she does that.

Survivor week 43 day 2

Barbara got up this morning and wanted a baked potato and chili for breakfast. Guess what. That is what I fixed her. She went back to bed while I went to church. She rested most of the day. She did not have much pain. She was just tired and had no energy

We had liver this evening for supper getting ready for the blood test tomorrow morning. We will find out her platelet count tomorrow.

Then we head to OKC and Dallas for 4 daily doctors appointments.

Got up this morning to 10 deer in our back yard. They sure do like the soybean leaves It is fun to watch them. I woke Barbara up so she could see them.

Survivor week 43 day 1

Barbara had a good breakfast then took a nap. Leanna fixed a 4 bean soup that was full of proteins. Then Barbara took a nap. Leanna left and went home to spend time with her husband
Barbara and I went to the chicken noodle dinner at the church in Dennis. Good food and good fellowship. We were able to see many people that we had not seen in years

Barbara got tired but had a good time. She had very little pain today. She just doesn't have energy. We do go for blood test on Monday so we will find out if her blood platelets go up

Survivor week 42 day 7

Barbara got up and ate a good breakfast. She had an upset stomache. She took a nap until noon. stomache was gone. The therapist came and made Barbara walk.
Then we went to meet with Katy Herold. She and Brad are going to have a baby girl. She is in Kansas for a month and will then head back to Hawaii to be with Brad. It was good to see her. See picture

Overall it was a good day. It got chilly so we had to turn on the heater.

Survivor week 42 day 6

I think Barbara is crazy. This morning she asked for chili eggs and baked potato what a combination. Yep that is what she had for breakfast. Then she napped.

The beef liver angel had David bring liver for lunch so we had liver for lunch

Barbara has not had much pain today just tired she rests a lot and is still eating real good

Survivor week 42 day 5

Barbara woke up at 2 this morning and said she was hungry. We snacked then we got up at 7 and she ate a real breakfast. Wow did you see that sunrise this morning it was beautiful
Thank you God for arranging the sunrise this morning. Barbara sure enjoyed it.

She napped until lunch and then the therapist came and made Barbara walk. It wears her out but her legs are getting stronger. Pray that she continues to build muscle and gain strength Her platelets are low and she is void of energy but she still tries to function. After the therapist left she took a nap. This evening Leanna arrived for a few days. She and barbara spent the evening talking

She had a slight chest pain this afternoon but it soon passed. Hope it stays gone.

Survivor week 42 day 4

Barbara got up late this morning and did not feel well. She had less energy than usual. We ate breakfast and she napped then we ate lunch and the health care lady came then the nurse came.

Barbara took s nap and then started feeling better. She even began to look better.

I think she was just down because of the low blood platelet count. She still wants to get stronger and wants to beat this cancer thing. She knows that God has a plan for her.

Survivor week 42 day 3

Barbara got up early and was hungry
After breakfast she went back to sleep. Then we went and gave blood she was tired but we went out to eat after giving blood. Then the therapist came and Barbara walked for him. Then she went back to bed

Late this afternoon the oncologist called and said that her blood platelets were down to 52,000. Well that was a little depressing so I grilled Barbara a steak to help cheer her up and to build her blood platelets. The doctor advised that Barbara needed to be safe and not get any bruises or cut herself. We are still scheduled for an avastin treatment next Wednesday. So we will just try to build platelets this week and then head south next week

Survivor week 42 day 2

Barbara had breakfast but had a headache so she went back to bed
After I got home from church we had lunch and Barbara sat up and we watched the Ryder cup.
Pastor Greg and wife Mona came to visit Barbara. Then we had liver for supper. Hopefully that will increase Barbara's blood platelet count tomorrow

We are going to just relax this week and grow blood platelets.

Survivor week 42 day 1

Barbara got up late because she had such an exhausting but exciting day yesterday. Then Leanna left and headed home

Barbara was hungry and she asked if we could eat outside since it was so nice out. So we just had a little picnic in our front yard. It was a Beautiful day that God provided so it was nice to just enjoy it with the lady I love.

The rest of the day Barbara just rested. She still has a little head ache. Don't know what that is. It may just be neuropathy We will talk to the oncologist about that. It is not so bad that she wants to take medicine for it

Survivor week 41 day 7

God is in control. He allows Barbara to function and enjoy family

This morning Barbara's brother and sister in law came from St Paul to visit her. She has been asking all week if she was going to get to see her brother well today they came and Barbara enjoyed it a lot. Before they left cousin David Herold came and then cousin Carolyn Evans came. We all went to eat lunch in Parsons. Had a great time. Barbara ate protein food for platelet building. I think all we see is David's hands in the picture Alice and Rich were going to Coffeyville for her 50 class reunion

Before we left the resturant my cousin Don and Pat Thompson came into the resturant so we were also able to visit with them for a short time

We came home and Barbara took a nap. But my brother and his wife Judy came to help chip wood. In fact Judy prepared dinner for us while Barbara was napping and Sonny and I worked outside

So a very busy day but Barbara enjoyed visiting with family.

She is tired and has a slight headache but no leg pain

Survivor week 41 day 6

Got up and fixed a protein breakfast for Barbara. She rested and then we ate lunch. Then the health care lady came. Then the nurse came.

Barbara had high blood pressure with the health care lady but it was back to normal when the nurse arrived

Barbara began having a headache this afternoon. She is afraid to go to sleep because the last time she had a serious headache she found out she had cancer. The mri's show that she is cancer free. It is just something we have to work through. The oncologist said that if she developed a mild headache to give her some medicine. I have done that and hope that she.will get some rest

Barbara is excited about the new Awana year that started last night. She cares about those young people

Pray that Barbara will be able to relax and let the medicine work.

Survivor week 41 day 5

Barbara got up and had a good protein laden breakfast. Then she napped. She said that her leg pain was only a 1 on a 10 point scale. We are just glad for the miracle of removing the pain.

The avastin is causing her some upset stomach but we can take medicine for that. She is just tired and trying to eat food that will raise her blood platelets


We had a nice rain today then the sun came out and it was just a wonderful day.

Survivor week 41 day 4

Barbara got up and wanted steak and eggs for breakfast. Remember she needs to build platelets. So for breakfast we had steak and eggs
For lunch we had chicken fried steak then for supper we had Suzzan's famous beef liver and onions.

Protein loaded designed to build platelets. Barbara walked for the therapist but was very tired after the session

She has a very positive attitude and wants to get better so she can work with the Awana kids that start tomorrow night. We will see how much energy she had tomorrow evening

She appreciates all of the prayers and knows that she is in God's plan.

Survivor week 41 day 3

We got up and ate at 5 then again at 9:30. Barbara was tired but we headed to give blood then we had lunch with Sonny and Judy. We enjoyed that

We came home and Barbara went to bed.

We received a call from the oncologist. Barbara's blood platelets have gone down to 52,000. So no chemo this week. We are still on schedule for avastin on Oct 10 but no chemo

No wonder Barbara is tired

Her attitude is still good. in Jeremiah 29 verse 11 it says that God has a plan for each of us and we are to have hope
So Barbara is full of hope because God is in control

We just have to be careful that Barbara doesn't start bleeding. She will continue eating to build blood platelets. Lots of proteins

Survivor week 41 day 2

Let Barbara sleep late and was getting ready to go to church but fell asleep 3 times. We decided it best to get sleep. Not in a church pew

One of the side affects of avastin is that it makes you very sleepy.

Well Barbara is very sleepy.

She continues to have a great appetite
Tomorrow we go for blood test to see if the platelets are over 100,000

Survivor week 41day 1

Barbara slept late. After breakfast she slept until lunch Then she napped but all afternoon she was hungry. I couldn't get enough food in her. I think that she ate 4 times. The doctor told us she would be tired. He also said that it was good that she had an appetite

We went outside about 9 pm and watched the moon. God sure made the sky beautiful.

Sunday is coming.

Survivor week 40 day 7

Barbara was very tired today from the traveling. So she ate and slept. Then at noon the physical therapist came then the nurse came and then the lady came to give Barbara a massage. When they left Barbara went back to sleep.

I read that avastin makes you very tired. Humm. She has been tired for some time

Leg pain is still there but not the intense pain of last month.

We are going to rest tonorrow

Survivor week 40 day 6

Had lunch with david and Leanna then we drove north to Altamont

We made it home and Barbara was real tired. I let her take a nap. Then we had supper. Immediately after supper Barbara wanted to go back to bed. I knew she was tired. After 4 days of riding in the car and she is exhausted. Her legs are swollen. I think from riding in the car

Barbara said she feels that the avastin is working and that she just feels better. Even though she is tired

Survivor week 40 day 5

Got up and had appointment with dr fink. Barbara has lost 12 pounds. I think it was water retention. The doctor was impressed by the improvement Barbara has made in the last three weeks we will not be able to take chemo until her platelets get back up to 100,000

Please pray that on Monday her platelets reach that mark Then she had an avastin iv drip. We left Dallas and headed to chickasha. This week is Melissa Evon's birthday. We couldn't leave town without a little celebrating. So Barbara took a nap at Virginia's house before Melissa and Hayden got there.

It was a lot of fun to just relax and enjoy the time with friends and family.

It was a very long day for Barbara but she said she was glad we spent the time with the Hays and Evon's and martins.

Tomorrow we drive to Altamont

Survivor week 40 day 4

Got Barbara up and fed her and then she went back to bed. She was tired from yesterday's drive. While she slept Sarah and I went to best buy and bought Barbara an I pad for her birthday. Ok I know her birthday was last week but Altamont does not have a best buy. Besides I needed help from Sarah. We got the I pad then went to the AT&T store and hooked her phone up as a hot spot. Now Barbara will be able to use her I pad wherever she is. Thanks Sarah for helping me with the technology. Then I took the I pad to David who got it ready for Barbara

I think the I pad will help Barbara use her brain

Appreciate both of them for helping me

Then Leanna Barbara and I drove to Dallas. We have an early appointment at Baylor medical center. After the appointment Barbara will get the avastin drip

Pray that she will not have any bad side effects from the avastin

Survivor week 40 day 3

Barbara got hungry at 1:00 this morning. So we had breakfast. Then we had breakfast again when she got up at 8:30. She still has an appetite. She gave blood this morning. The oncologist called and said that her blood platelets were at 88,000. They said that they would still do the avastin drip on Wednesday. Now I understand why Barbara doesn't have any energy

Her leg pain has lessened but is still present

We drove to OKC today and are staying at Leanna and Brian's. We will drive to Dallas tomorrow and see the doctor on Wednesday morning then return to Altamont on Thursday

Survivor week 40 day 2

Barbara talked about going to church but didn't have the energy. I went to church and then fixed her lunch. Then we took a nap
Barbara seems to be getting stronger but still gets very tired.

She gives blood tomorrow and then we head to OKC for a doctors appt. on wednesday

Survivor week 40 day 1

Today was a day of rest. My son says Sunday is a day of rest but we decided that it was raining and we were going to rest

Barbara ate lots of proteins between naps.

She had a slight head ache and an upset stomach. I also had an upset stomach so it must have been something I cooked for us. Anyway by the time she went to bed the only ache she had was in her leg

Survivor week 39 day 7

Guess what. It is raining. Wow over an inch already. Moisture came down most of the day
Barbara got up and had breakfast and said she didn't want to walk for the therapist. I put her back to bed to rest
Leanna headed home and at noon the therapist came. Barbara walked from the living room to the kitchen 3 times. That got her heart rate up so the therapist said that was enough. He was worried that Barbara might be losing her need to eat. Well after he left we had a good lunch. Then after a short nap we ate again at 3:30. I don't think we have to worry about Barbara not having an appetite.

Barbara is still having leg pain but she said it is much less than before.

Thanks Diane for the daily cards of encouragement. Like you keep saying God is in control. We keep seeing miracles every day.

Survivor week 39 day 6

Busy day. Barbara asked to sleep late. I let her sleep until 8 then got her up and fed her. She took a nap and then the lady came to help her take a shower. Then the nurse came to check her vitals. All vitals are within range

Nancy and Dwight brought lunch. Very good.

Barbara felt good this afternoon and tried on her green wig. She still has a sense of humor.

Had supper with david and Suzzann. What a good time

Survivor week 39 day 5

Barbara felt pretty good when she got up. Her leg hurt but she wanted to walk
She took a nap and then said that she did not want to walk for the therapist. Leanna convinced her to walk for the therapist. When the therapist got here Barbara walked for him. He was impressed that Barbara wanted to walk. Then we had lunch. After lunch Barbara had a stomach ache. She felt better after she drank some 7 up.

Barbara received a call from Nigeria wanting her to know that the pastor s there pray for Barbara twice a week. Also received a note from Arizona that people were praying for Barbara plus we got a call from people in Altamont that they were praying for Barbara
Isn't it amazing that God has people all over praying for her. God does have a plan and we are glad that we allow God to work His plan. Thank you God

Survivor week 39 day 4

Barbara got up early and then went back to sleep. She rested until the health care aid came to help her take a shower. She felt much better after the shower. Then we had lunch.

Barbara did a little bit of walking. It makes her tired but she needs to walk to strengthen her legs. She continues to have leg pain but walks anyway. The therapist will be here tomorrow
Was outside getting fresh air this evening

Survivor week 39 day 3

Got up this morning and Barbara requested beef liver for breakfast
Yep lots of protein in beef liver. Then she took a nap. Then we went to give blood for her weekly blood test

Thanks for the prayers because her platelets were 109,000 today

We had lunch and the therapist came to the house to work with Barbara. Then she rested

Hanna Day and her grandmother made a ladybug quilt for Barbara. It sure is great to have great neighbors

Leanna and I were in the back yard at 7:30 and we saw 10 deer in the back yard. They sure are fun to watch when they take off running and the white tails are bouncing in the air.
