2-28-14

Last day of February. It was miserable outside this morning. Rainy or sleety if that is a word. If not you heard it here first. Trend setter from Altamont kansas. 

Had lunch with sonny and judy then sonny and I shopped while judy visited her aunt

I spent the evening trying to get signed up for a cruise. Problem is that they are going to charge me over double if I travel alone. So no cruise yet. 

Going to be a grandpa next month. Looking forward to that. 

2-27-14

Went to visit the kesslers and two of their daughters and children. Then I watched a movie that Kim burks and Donna Jackson gave me. Both of those ladies are crazy so I should not have watched the movie but I did.  Movie was "the way"  Then this evening I ate with the days. I always enjoy an evening with them. Can't help but smile and laugh with them. 

So I had a busy day. Didn't get anything accomplished but had a good day. 

I received a message from Uganda  Africa. They asked for special prayer because of persecution. 

Also pray for Burt the coin man. He called and asked for prayer also.  

2-26-14

Where has the month gone. It was cold this morning. I worked outside. The wind was blowing from the north. Then I came inside and worked inside this afternoon

I spoke to the youth of the church this evening about my mission trip to Africa.  They seemed very interested and wanted to go on a mission trip. The youth are getting ready to go to winter jam. They sould have fun there

2-25-14

Got up and went outside. It was cold so I put on more clothes. Then I worked out all morning

Went to lunch with sonny and judy. Then I let judy beat me in cards. Ok she beat me fair and square. Then I got some lilacs from the farm and replanted them here at the house. Yes it was cold but the county extension office guy said to replant them between valentines day and st Patricks day. So I chose today as it was in the middle

Then I find it it is supposed to snow tonight. Oh well I have wood inside and will stay in tomorrow 

2-24-14

Ok maybe I am crazy. Called my friend ac and we played golf. Maybe it was 31 degrees. We were not the only ones to be playing at that course. Had a good time. 

Then ac went home to build a kitchen cabinet and I went back to David's. Met him and then we cut a huge limb off the tree in the front yard. Sarah said it was growing too fast and was getting close to the house.  Anyway we got the limb cut and put out for big trash day.  Then I drove home.  

Leanna had her last appointment with the at risk pregnancy doctor. Thomas weighs 6 pounds 14 ounces.  The doctor was pleased with leanna and Thomas. Oh Thomas has a lot of hair. Oh Thomas may be independent and a little stubborn. Hum must get that from brian. Brian had lots of hair--before he lost it all. 

Now she goes to see the regular pregnancy doctor weekly. 

So soon I might be a grandpa. Not too excited. Yeh right. 

2-23-14

Had a good day at church. Did Sunday school then had children's church then the pastor spoke on Hebrews 1. It was good. 

As soon as church was out I headed to OKC to celebrate David's birthday. I can't believe that david is 42. So we had dinner and had a good time just talking.

Went shopping for a birthday present for my son. He will be 42 tomorrow. He just told me what he wanted so I tried to get what he requested. Doesn't always happen that way. Sometimes I just get him something. But this year asked and waited for answer.

Pretty slow. Just relaxed. Remember I had a full day yesterday. 

Checked my trees. Would you believe that the fruit trees are starting to get buds on them. Hope they don't bud out then get frozen. 

Did some shopping today by using the internet. 

2-20-14

I got to talk to Marilee for over 2 hours. We talked about Africa pictures. It made me realize again how awesome God is and He lets me participate in a mission trip. Wow

Well this morning Dwight nancy and Dwayne came by to take me to Oklahoma with them. I was able to help them with the project they are doing in Oklahoma. It was a long day but a good day. Did things like wire lights plumb toilets and sinks. Easy stuff like that. Besides got to be with friends.

2-19-14

Got up and there was no wind but was in the low 40s. So I headed to the golf course. First time this year that I have played. Shot a 97 so I was happy. By the time I finished it was getting warmer but also the wind had picked up. 

Cleaned house did the laundry and also the dishes. Then had Awana's. David had the lesson. Very thought provoking. Then I came home and sat in front of the fireplace. 

I do enjoy my fireplace. 

Leanna had a special 36 week checkup with the doctor. Everything looks good  she is right on schedule according to the doctor. She is now scheduled for doctors visits weekly. Only 29 days until her due date 

2-18-14

Had a slow day planned with a little bit of golf. Then the door bell rang and my neighbor said that he thought I had a water leak. I checked it out and yep I had a water leak. So small change of plans. I turned the water off and started digging. Then I called a. Eight or for help. I thought that he had a back hoe. Nope but he did come over and together we dug and found the leak. We fixed the leak. But the day was shot. 

So I took a shower and went to the last home basketball game.  I watched the junior varsity. They won then the varsity girls and boys both lost.   Good evening. 

2-17-14

Got up and worked out by 5:30. Then I started doing my taxes. Using turbo tax. By 1:00 I was done. I glad to get them done. I wanted to get them done because I don't know when leanna is going to have my grandson. Notice it is not her son but my grandson. She had an appointment today with the ob-gyn doctor. Everything is still going as planned. So now she is 30 days from her due date. 

That is an answer to prayers as she has not had problems with this pregnancy.  

After lunch I rode the tractor with mark.  He was working ground on john's property. He had just finished working ground on rich's property. Nice day and most of the farmers were out and working on fields. 

2-16-14

Taught at Sunday school. Lesson was that God can use us even when we have personal reasons not to serve him. Moses stuttered but God used him. He had his brother Aaron do the talking. Hum I guess none of us have an excuse. 

Then the pastor taught on Hebrews chapter 1. For evening church he taught from Ecclesiastes chapter 1

After church we had our annual meeting. It was fun to listen To each of thee departments list what is being done. Just goes to show that the entire church is used. Amazing concept 

Looking forward to a good week.

Busy day. Look at the mom it is georgous.  Watch 4 basketball games  each game had at least one of the Awana kids playing so I watch 4 games. Then I went to the funeral of maple parsons. She was 98. After that I fixed some food and took it to Dennis Methodist church (Mexican food night). Also celebrated Nadine stevenson's 91 birthday. Whew   Had a lot going on.

Happy valentines day. Worked outside this morning. Then cleaned house. Had company coming so I had to get the house cleaned. Grilled steak this evening. Then just enjoyed the evening with friends.  

Spent time today with my cat and also my dog. They needed love

Ok I will write more tonight. Got calls that maybe I wasn't doing good yesterday because of the short post. Just didn't  have anything to say

Got up early. Worked out had breakfast before 6. In the morning. I went to get my lawnmower  from the shop. I might need it sometime in the future. Then helpd my brother load some hay. Then I came home and messed in the yard. It was the first day that wasn't freezing since I got home from Africa. So I worked in the garage and yard this afternoon   Spent some quality time with Elijah  Now I am tired. And so is Elijah 

Don't forget that tomorrow is valentines day

The weather warmed up today. Most of the snow melted.

Glad I got home when I did. Received a certified letter to be in court in Topeka. Yep robert thompson hasn't paid his water bill. Once I called them I am the wrong robert thompson  I asked how they got my name. They paid some research company to come up with similar names.  I looked on the internet and found 31,800 robert thompson's in America. Hope the city of Topeka didn't have to send letters to all of them. I tried to explain to the attorney that it would be better to do a little research prior to issuing a summons. I think it fell on deaf ears.  Anyway got another one solved.

Then this morning I went to an estate planning class. They only wanted 4000 dollars to help me plan my estate. I already have a plan but wanted to see with the recent changes in laws if my plan was still viable. It is. But they still wanted 4000 to upgrade mine

Still didn't get above freezing today. Tomorrow should be a good day to melt the snow.

It was cold today so I spent the day in front of the fireplace. So glad that I have wood to put in fireplace. Started a puzzle. Read the mail. Not a stressful day. Played with my dog and cat. They both missed me and needed attention. 

2-9-14

I slept a full night. Sure I got up and went tot he bathroom but at least I went right back to sleep. 

This afternoon I took a short nap. Now I am really tired and ready for bed. I was sleepy at church this evening but it was interesting.  We are starting a new study on Ecclesiastes. Very excited. 

It is supposed to snow tonight. May have up to 4 inches of snow. Oh well I know where the woodpile is and how to get more firewood. 

Saw 4 deer grazing in The back yard. I enjoy watching them

Ok I must be tired. You may get two of these tonight. The first one may have gone through but I am not sure

Anyway today leanna had her first baby shower. She got some neat items.  After the shower I headed home to Altamont. We have snow on the ground here. So the first thing that I did was build a fire in the fireplace. Makes the house feel warmer. My neighbors turned up the heat so that the house would be warm when I got home. Thanks

I had a good week just relaxing in OKC.  Thanks to all the family and chosen family that helped to make the week possible

Star Trek onesie  for Thomas. Leanna had her first baby shower. After the shower I headed home to Altamont. Got here and there was still snow on the ground. First thing I did was build a fire in the fireplace. Feels so good. 

I am a blessed man. I have a great family and also chosen family that are wonderful. Thanks to all of you. Your prayers made it possible for me to go on this mission trip. The trip was good for me and allowed me to  reconfirm that God is an awesome God

Pretty easy day. Finished leanna taxes. So she is done. Then I worked on the computer. I had lunch with david and sarah. Then I went to Leanna's school and visited her  she had parent teacher conferences so I didn't interrupt the students.  Then this evening leanna and brian had some errands to do. So I tagged along. 

Then  leanna and brian helped (ok they did it for me)prepare a PowerPoint for church on Sunday. 

2-6-14

Got a lot done at Leanna's house. Fixed the kitchen drain then fixed the vacuum sweeper then fixed the ceiling fan. Then I worked on her taxes. Almost got them done but needed to go to ac and Virginias. Spent just a little time with them and then ac and I went to Altus for visitation. Randy Pinkham died on Sunday. Visitation was tonight and they don't know when a service will be. Not many scouts were there.  Doesn't matter. I wanted to go to support linda

Still tired from the trip but trying to get on schedule. Still wake up at 1:30 or 2:00. But will get back to normal soon.

Returned from Africa last night. Remember I was at the equator on Monday. Very nice weather but when I got back to OKC it was cold. Today is to be the coldest day of the year so far. Got up to 15 as a high for today. Went yo bed early last night but got up at 1:30. It will take some time to get back to normal. Normal a setting on the washing machine. 

The trip was exhausting but I am glad that I went.

Surprise! Your guest host is back for one last post. Daddy's plane was over an hour late, but he made it here. He wanted to go to Braum's for some ice cream. Big surprise!! He showed us some pictures and videos of churches and schools. Then we went to my brothers house to say hi.  Stopped by Sharon's house on the way back to pick up his car that she had graciously let him park in her garage while he was gone. By the time we made it home, he showed us a few things out of his bags, he crashed. It was about 6:00 am in Kenya. 

So you got stuck with me for last post. Thank you for your prayers!! They both made it home safely. I think we will hear more in the coming days about God's work on their trip. Goodnight!

Oops! Fell asleep last night without giving any update. But the truth is, I did not talk to Daddy yesterday. I got a message yesterday late morning that said "in Nairobi airport. Past security. Yippee" Then at midnight our phones sounded with a text that said "in Amsterdam. Waiting to get on a plane to Detroit. It is 7 in the morning. Loading now" Once the dynamic duo lands in Detroit, they will split up for their last flight. Daddy will fly here to OKC.  Larry will fly home to Phoenix. Still praying for safe travels that they both arrive home safely. It is snowing here, so I will have to check later about flights. 

So I guess this is my last post as guest host.

The dynamic duo have finished their work in Africa for this trip.  They had church and a dedication ceremony for the church building today. 

As I type, they are on their way to the airport. Please pray for safe travels! It will take awhile with flights and layovers. They will make it home Tuesday evening. I have told Daddy that he is leaving the Equator to come to snow. He has tried to describe the cold temps, but they just cannot comprehend that it could be that cold. They live on the Equator, after all. Praying for safe travels!

2-1-14

I have been remiss.  When Renatus came from Tanzania, the dynamic duo became the three musketeers! Or maybe the three stooges. Heehee Anyway, they finished the conference today with lots of teaching. If I understand correctly, they have been teaching in this order- Larry, Renatus, Bob.  Today they taught some Foundations, encouraging one another, and something else that the baby must remember because I don't. 

The three amigos are ready to finish their work and head home.  Renatus will leave early in the morning to take a bus home to Grace. Back to the dynamic duo for their final day of their work. Church and a dedication.  Larry is ready to go home to Kathleen. Daddy has not said to me that he is ready to go home, but of course his Barbara won't be there.  He has to keep working a little longer here on Earth before he gets to go home with her. 

We were discussing things breaking. Daddy said the hotel has no running water at the moment. It is broken. He has gotten to know most of the hotel workers as they bring him buckets of water. He told me several names and mini life stories. He has been a tiny bit sick so he has needed extra water for the bathroom.  The hotel's internet is also broken at the moment. But this seems significantly less consequential.

Sunday is coming! (That is for us. It is already Sunday there.)

Oops! I didn't do this last night. So the dynamic duo taught some more Foundations. Next Daddy is teaching about encouraging one another. The second day of this three day conference is done. They are winding down. Pray for them to finish their work well.
