Survivor week 39 day 2

Correction. Last night Dwight and Nancy's granddaughter name was Eliza not Alyssa. Oops sorry to mom Leslie

Barbara got up and was determined to go to church. We ate at 7 and she went back to bed with a headache and leg pain. We didn't make it to church. Brian went home this afternoon. Leanna will stay a couple of days then go home.

Barbara still is getting better and her mind works good but her body just can't keep up.

Survivor week 39 day 1

Ok today Barbara gets up and she wants French toast. What does she think I am -a cook?

Yes I fixed French toast for her. She slept and rested most of the day. At 4 she wanted to show Leanna and I that she could walk. Not great but she walked. Her heart rate was high like she had worked out --she had.

We went outside. We had a birthday party for her. Outside She had a great time. Thanks to all those that came. You made Barbara's day. Dwight nancy Alisha david Suzzann ac virginia melissa Hayden Sonny judy becky Elena leanna brian

It was perfect weather and great fellowship with family and chosen
families

Barbara said her leg was still hurting but only at a level 3 not a level 10.
Another miracle.

Remember Sunday is coming. We are looking to God for His help and guidance

Survivor week 38 day 7

Barbara got up and ate breakfast She practiced walking and then immediately went back to bed with severe leg pain. She said her leg hurt whether she walked or didn't
The therapist called to say he would be here at noon. I tried to get Barbara up but she didn't have any energy. The therapist arrived just as I got Barbara up. He had her walk around in the house. She did great but got very tired easily. He was impressed by her ability to walk. After he left she ate and then went back to bed.

Leanna arrived this afternoon.

Barbara is showing signs of improving but remains very tired

Survivor week 38 day 6

Happy birthday to Barbara. She got up this morning and wanted me to fix her waffles. So that is what I fixed her

Our neighbor called and wanted to know if she could bring a birthday lunch to Barbara. Of course I said yes

Well at 11:30 her husband called and said we were going to plan B. something happened to cause the change. 30 minutes later they arrived with food. Linda from church brought Barbara some flowers with ladybugs in the flowers Thanks Nancy and Dwight the meal was great. as good as plan B was plan A must have really been something While we were still eating the health aids came. Before they left the nurse came and then before she left Barbara's brother John and wife Rosy came. When everyone was gone Barbara was pretty tired. She took a nap and then we had a light protein laden evening meal

Barbara has gone to bed with a painful leg. But it was a good birthday. Thanks for all the cards and calls and Facebook entries

Survivor week 38 day 5

Leanna got up and headed home today. She had to go to the district office

Barbara felt good but still had pain in her leg. The therapist came and made Barbara work out she got very tired from the exercises. He said he would be back on Friday to have her walk.
After he left Barbara went to bed. No energy.

Then she got up and spent the evening listening to her niece play the violin for her.

It was a good day but very tiring.

Pray that Barbara continues to be positive about the therapy. Pray that her platelets will remain high enough to continue to take avastin in 2 weeks

Last night was the last night of chemo for this cycle

Ok many of you have been on Facebook about Barbara's birthday. It is sept 6 which is tomorrow. We have a slow day planned

Survivor week 38 day 4

Barbara slept late today. Then she ate a protein lunch. She was very alert and wanted to do things like get up by herself. She couldn't but her mind told her that she could. Good sign

Then the therapist came and talked to Barbara about what she can do and he checked her range of motion on both left and right side. He got her walker out and worked a little bit with it. He said he would be back tomorrow He said that he felt that he could help Barbara gain strength and mobility. At the same time the health care assistant came. She talked with Barbara about taking showers and dressing herself.

We talked about modifying the bathroom to allow for Barbara to take a shower. The health care assistant is going to go get smelly (girl stuff) for Barbara. She said that she was going to make Barbara look and feel like a girl. Something about putting a bow or barrette in her hair. Anyway she will come twice a week to work with Barbara.

When they both left Barbara was exhausted. But she said that it was good that they were trying to get her more mobile.

Tonight Barbara took the last chemo of this cycle. She is glad because it just zaps her energy.

So we had a busy day but a good day.

Survivor week 38 day 3

Happy labor day
Barbara slept late. We had liver at lunch to help with platelet growth
She seems to be getting better but still can't walk. She wants to walk but the legs just won't let her

She still has leg pain

A prayer partner of ours went to heaven yesterday. Please pray for Marietta as she continues without her Jacob of over 30 years

We must have needed a boost today as as my friend from ohio texed to encourage us then my friend from Kenya called to pray with and for us then Drue called to offer some spiritual guidance Thanks

Also many people have been on Facebook with encouragement for Barbara. Barbara had Leanna get on her page and leave a message. Also in 3 days Barbara will have a birthday and birthday wishes are coming in from many of our friends.

Tonight Barbara told me she wanted to get up by herself. She tried but the legs just are not strong enough. But at least the thought process is there

God is in control and He will provide for all of our needs
