Mowed the lawn this morning. Was a little wet but needed to get it done
Drove to Kansas city to spend some ye with becky Erica and elana
Went to eat with them and just talked. Jaye came over and ate with us
It was fun to spend time with people I love.
I am so thankful to God for allowing me to have the family members I have

I spent the morning on the telephone. I was trying to get some things corrected the I went to my brothers and played games. Judy's sister lavon was here from California.it was good to see her

I talked to Mona this evening and she said she is doing better. She is still having hip problems but she is feeling better. Thanks for the prayers 

7-29-13

Got to see Hayden and melissa they leave Wednesday to move to virginia wiTh mike. Was good to see them

Today I went o Leanna's new school to help her move boxes into her room

Wow God is taking care of her. In April leanna went to her old school and said that she could come back to work. Her principal said she had just hired someone to fill Leanna's position. Leanna contacted the principal at rancho village who interviewed leanna and immediately wanted to hire her

Well today we walked into a room with everything new. The custodian told leanna that everything was new. Tables chairs cubbies and most surprising teaching items. I know in the past leanna has spent many dollars getting math maniiputives. Science projects and such. Well today she had box after box of these items. Pretty amazing. What a difference. At her old school the principal didn't want her and made it hard on her and wouldn't get anything for her. At this school the principal bought everything for her and is very helpful. God is just taking care of leanna

Had a good drive home. No rain but it had rained over 2 inches. Also after I got home it started raining

7-28-13

What a good Lord's day. Went to church then went out to eat with leanna and brian. Then I came back to david and Sarah's. They had worked on the fence and had finished it.  It does look real good.  They did not make it to church. 

Then this afternoon we had grilled hamburgers with melissa Hayden virginia and ac. Melissa and Haden are moving to virginia to be with mike on Wednesday. So we wanted to spend some time with them. I can't believe that Hayden is 8 years old. I will go visit them I October. 

Thanks for the prayers for melissa. I think that she realizes that God is in control and that she will be alright even though it is scarey that they are offering an early out to mike.  She doesn't know where they will be in 2 years but she realizes that God is in control

7-27-13

Spent the day helping david and sarah with their fence. We power washed it and got it ready to stain. After washing part of it they realized that it needed to be replaced. So we will be replacing one section. We will try to get it done before church I the morning

We did take time to go to  dinner with leanna. Just a good relaxing time

Please be in prayer for my friend melissa. She quit her job to move to be with her husband who is in the military. The truck packed up their stuff and left for virginia on friday  Well the military I their wisdom offered mike an early out on friday  With lots of strings attached.  pray that they will know what to do and that they will be able to be relaxed about their decision. I know that God loves them very much

7-26-13

Woke up to thunder. Then more thunder. Yep it started raining. I drove to OKC. It rained all the way. Got here in time to help david and sarah to start cleaning the fence so we can stain it. I am sure we will spend all day tomorrow washing and preparation May not get any staining done. 

7-25-13

Worked in the yard this morning. Something about having over 300 trees just keeps me busy

Then I  went and visited with the pastor and his wife. Please pray for Mona. She hurt her back while In India and is in a lot of pain. Then since I was out I went to talk with Jim then I went to visit Ruth. She is. Ich better since she got home from her back surgery. Still in pain but doing better

Then I loaded the car as I will be going to OKC to help my children.   Ok I enjoy going to visit each of them. 

7-24-13

Worked in the yard most of the day. Then I went to the cemetery and cut so,e trees and brush. Also put more dirt around barbara's grave marker

Then went to church tonight

Wow did you see the beautiful moon.  It was huge and orange. Just made me want to stare at it. God thanks for the moon tonight

Greg and Mona got back safely from India  but late. Mona has a problem with her back so be In prayer for her to be able to get relief

7-23-13

Worked in the yard all morning. It was warm and humid. Then I had lunch with sonny judy and mason. Judy was going to be the guest speaker at the senior citizens center after lunch. So I went along to listen to her. Then she asked if I would get aunt Nadine and bring her to the meeting. I picked her up and had her ride in the convertible. She turned 90  recently. She was all about telling the other senior citizens that she got to ride in the red convertible. After the speech I took her back to the assisted living center she told the admits tractor that she took a ride in a red convertible. I think I gave her a thrill. Glad I was able to put a smile on her face

I was trying to sit outside but the lightening and thunder and finally rain drops drove me inside

Talked to Ruth who had surgery on Friday. She was able to come home from the hospital. She still has to be careful but the doctors felt she could heal better at home. Smart doctor

Her sister had cataract surgery today but seems to be doing well.

Greg and Mona are supposed to arrive home tonight. Thanks for the prayers as they return from a preaching trip to India 

7-22-13

Wow where has this month gone.  Got up and was going to go outside but it was raining. 

Then I worked on finances on the computer. Then I drove to Joplin to visit lady that had surgery Friday. She was not doing as well today as the last two days   

I then came home and walked 4 miles   So I did t get much done today but there is always tomorrow 

7-21-13

It rained most of the night  2 1/4 inches. Church was good this morning. After church I took 7 others to Joplin to eat and see Ruth who was in the hospital for back surgery. She fell just before we got there so she was not feeling real good. The staff gave her medicine so we did not stay very long. They did not feel that the fall hurt the back surgery

This evening we had church again. It was good

Ray for the pastor and his wife ad they will be traveling back from India Tuesday

7-20-13

Got up at 4 to watch the British open only to realize that it is Saturday and the open doesnt start until 6. Oh well 

Fixed breakfast for leanna then loaded her car and she left to go back to OKC. She and brian were going to a 50th anniversary for a friend. 

 I headed to Joplin to visit a friend who just had back surgery. We had prayed that the doctor would have a great surgery. Well the surgeon did not need to put the metal rod in her back. Recovery will be quicker and the surgery only took 3 hours instead of the projected 6 hours. Answered prayers

Then I came home and spent the afternoon watering my 300 plus trees. Now as I write this it is raining for the first time in over a month. Should have watered sooner

7-19-13

Got up to watch the British open. Then my brother and nephew came for breakfast. Then we drove to play golf. Mason had never played but wanted to learn. Since I enjoy playing golf and  teaching other we played golf and had a blast. But first I had mason give me a ride in the convertible. He enjoyed that a lot. I think he wants one for his next birthday. After golf we had a leisurely lunch. 

Then leanna and I went to visit aunt Ethel in parsons. It was good to just talk to her and see her being so content.  Then we drove to Edna to visit aunt Neila. Had a good visit with her. She is doing much better after her bout with shingles. 

Then leanna and I went to the cemetery and spent some time at Barbara's gravesite. Very relaxing time. 

So we had a full day but a good day. 

7-18-13

Got up at 4 to watch the British open. Slept some and watched some. 

At noon leanna got here. She just came up to visit. Oh she also had news 

It seems that after much trying and doctors visits that she and brian are going to have a baby. So we are pretty excited about having a grandchild to spoil. Oh yes i know my role. It is to spoil the child and then send them home to mom and dad. 

I am sure we will have more info later. Just pray for Leanna's health and the health of the baby as because of Leanna's age she is a high risk 

Leanna had a small sign put in my yard. I think she thinks I am old and have trouble seeing. So she made the sign very big

7-17-13

Finished painting the decks. It was ot by the time I finished them. Then I took a two mile walk. Then I go ready to teach a church. 

I had to take a mandatory nap  church was ok no one threw tomatoes at me. Thanks to the church members for putting up with me teaching. 

7-16-13

Got up and went for a long walk with my dog. We saw one deer trying to hide from us. It was fun to watch as it tried to blend into the environment 

Then I studied so that I could teach the lesson at church tomorrow night

Then I decided to paint the front and back porch. Yep forest green. 

Well before I got that done a friend called to see if I would come and work on genealogy.  Had a good time and learned some things. Did you know that barbara's great great great grandfather gave 3840 acres to a seminary in Dayton Ohio to keep it going. The bible school is a Methodist seminary. The article I read said he was mowing hay with  a Team of horses and he stopped mowing and knelt down and prayed about giving the land to the school. When he finished praying he decided to give the land as long as they would teach student to study the word of God. Then he continued to mow his hay.  I looked it up and there is a school in the outskirts of Dayton that is a seminary

May have a road trip to Dayton in the future

7-15-13

Got up and had oatmeal. The doctor has said that I need to eat oatmeal for breakfast. So I try to do as she suggested. 

Then I studied. I have to prepare the message for Wednesday.  since the pastor is in India 

Then I went and played 18 holes of golf. It was fun but very warm. Still had fun

This eveningI went to sonny and Judy's for supper and a game of cards. Supper was good but mason and I got beat. We have to let sonny and judy win or they may not invite me back for dinner. Ok they beat us and we couldn't stop them

Then on the way home I saw a coyote  a momma deer then about 4 miles down the road a turkey then about 4 miles from the house I saw two fawns In a field. I think all the animals were out because of the cool weather. It cooled off quite a bit this evening. No rain but cooler

7-14-13

didn't get much done today. Went to church and came home and took a nap. Then back to church

So it was a real quiet day 

Some days we just need that. 

7-13-13

Got up early and started working outside on the yard. Was outside by 7:30 and got done at6:30. The cats and the dog was with me all day following me as I did various yard duties. Well after I took a shower this is what I found on the front porch. I think they were all tired. Notice there is room for me to sit on the front porch with Elijah the wonder dog

Just got an e mail from pastor Greg. They have arrived in India and they have hit the ground running. Although both of the guys are sick they are continueing to teach. They ask for our prayers

Slow day

I got up and spent some time outside putting termite treatment on my mulch. Then I worked on finances. I tried to get caught up and ready for taxes. 

Then I took a mandatory nap. 

I went to see my brother and mason ANSI got beat in cards. Sonny judy becky all ganged up on mason and I and beat us by 500 points. 

Oh well we will get them next time. 

7-11-13

Got up this morning and worked on the lesson for church. Since Greg is in India I will be leading the service at church. Kind of scary. I think that I have an outline and have a good idea of how to present the material.

Then this afternoon I mowed the yard.

It tried to rain this morning but not near enough to help the crops

I am sitting outside with my guard dog and two guard cats. Not sure they would be effective guards. But they like to be close when I am outside

7-10-13

Drove back to Kansas today.

Was impressed by sarah and her drive to help the people of Moore. This morning prior to leaving Oklahoma I helped sarah unload quilts that she had Alec to be mad to be given to those that lost everything in the tornado. She called it quilts for Moore

Well there were over a 1000 quilts at city hall this morning. I watched as two teachers came in and showed pictures of what used to b their homes and also pictures of their destroyed vehicles. Then they picked up a quilt. Others came in also but I left Thanks sarah for having the courage strength and compassion to help people in need

7-9-13

Went with leanna Jim Diane and aunt Lucretia to the Oklahoma history museum. I did not know that the real dust storm of 1935 was only in three counties in the panhandle of Oklahoma. I remember my father in law talking about the dust storm while he was in college in the panhandle of Oklahoma.

Then aunt Lucretia remember that as a little girl she collected cow chips to burn in the stoves. Remember there were no trees in this area at that time, only prairie It made the museum more real to go through it with aunt Lucretia who lived through it all

Then we ate at cattlemens Resturant before they left to fly back to California. It was real good to spend time with family this week.

7-8-13

Went and played golf with ac. We went to a course in Marlow. Great little course very well maintained

Then I went back to their house and worked on an upcoming cruise to Canada with them

Almost stayed too long as I was supposed to be at Toby Keith's to eat with david sarah leanna brian Jim Diane and aunt Lucretia. Had a good meal with them.

The Herold family reunion is over and we have traveled back to OKC I think everyone had a good time. It was good to reacquaint ourselves. We have the reunion every other year

I found out today that a pastor friend of my has been having issues with his heart. He has received a stent. Please be in prayer for High

Also a prayer warrior who was a care giver for her deceased husband recently got remarried and now I found that her new husband has
colen cancer. Please pray for Marietta

I must have been tired last night because Sunday has come. Enjoyed church service this morning
Pastor Greg and wife Mona are leaving for 2 weeks on missionary trip to India. Please pray for them

At the Herold family reunion. About 100 in attendance.
At 10 we had the 3 aunts talk about growing up and what changes they saw in the last 80 years
Leanna made a special lunch for the aunts plus about 20 others. It was grandmother meatballs. They were good

Then this afternoon the cousins all answered questions. Tonight after the family photo we had an auction

44 years ago I married barbara Herold. Today I am at a Herold reunion. This morning I had breakfast with david sarah brian aunt Lucretia and aunt Margaret. It has been fun taking care of both of those ladies the last 2 days. Then after lunch we headed to Texas for the Herold reunion. It has been good seeing family that I haven't seen I two years as we have a Herold reunion every 2 years

I am so glad that God allowed me to marry barbara 44 years ago. Yes I miss her a lot but I know that because of her belief in Jesus Christ as personal savior she is on heaven. That gives me great peace

Tonight I am thankful for the good health of baby phoebe day and parents. They are all doing much better and the plan is to send them home on Monday

Also pastor Drue freeman's father was in failing health and the doctors said he was dying. Today they transferred him to a skilled nursing home

Praise God for taking care of my friends and their families

Happy independence day

Weather was wonderful. We left Kansas this morning and drove to OKC. We made it to david and Sarah's for a cookout and swimming. I brought aunt Margaret and aunt Lucretia with me. Then we rested and went to the fireworks in Moore. So that is two nights in a row we have done fireworks

Just enjoyed being with my children and family both chosen and by birth. I am so blessed that God has allowed. E to have the family and friends that I have. Thank you God

Let the independence day celebration begin

Last night I had two of the Herold aunts at my house. We got up and had a leisurely breakfast on the back porch. Then we went to visit aunt Ethel in the. Using home. It was good to see her and below is a picture of the three of them. Two are in their 90's and one in the late 80's.
Then I took them to david and suzzan's farm. We had lunch and home made ice cream.

After lunch the aunts went to aunt neila's for rest and talking. I went to see my brother and sister along with becky mason Erica and Elena.

Then I came home and took a nap. Then the kesslers called and asked if I would come over. So I went over for a "red, white, and blue party. If was fun the cookies, the jello the drinks were all red white and blue. Had fun with the grand kids. Ok also enjoyed the kids and nancy and Dwight

Then I picked up aunt Margaret and aunt Lucretia and took them to the Altamont fireworks display. As soon as we arrived the days drove up and Benjamin sat on my lap until it was time for the fireworks. We have finally made it home after a full day.

Tomorrow will be more independence day excitement

7-2-13

Got up this morning expecting to help a friend at their grocery store. Well the truck was late so it did not arrive until 1:30. So we unloaded the truck and then put the food on the shelves. It was good to be able to help a friend. They had let too many people off for the holiday week and were short handed

Then this evening the Herold family came into Labette county. We had 19 eating at supper. Then aunt Margaret and Aunt Lucretia came here to spend the next two nights. We just talked and had a good evening

Others in the family are staying at david herolds house or aunt Nelia's

Spent the morning in the yard. I sprayed the fruit trees to keep the bugs away. Then I put new Irish spring soap on all my nut trees and fruit trees as a deer retardent

I think it works so I put new bars of soap on today

Then I went and played golf. It was good to relax and hit the ball

This evening I went to have supper with sonny and judy. Mason and I were partners and were able to beat them in a game of cards
